5 Steps To Make False Eyelashes Look Natural

Hey, Makeup Geeks! We’ve noticed a trend that’s here to stay…full and lengthy lashes! False lashes are all the rage because they add fun and flair to any makeup look! The only trouble is they can be tricky to apply. Don’t let that scare you away! Give false lashes a go and follow these five easy steps to natural-looking falsies.

There’s nothing worse than seeing a thick black band across your lash line—it’s a dead giveaway that you’re wearing falsies! Instead, choose lashes that have a clear or invisible band that will easily blend into your real lashes. Our favorites are the Ardell Invisiband Lashes and Kiss Trio Lashes because they look natural and oh so gorgeous!

If strip lashes seem hard to apply or look too fake on your eyes, try out single or trio lashes. We’ll admit, single lashes take some getting used to because they’re quite small and can easily twist out of place when the glue is still wet. Trio lashes are the easiest to work with because they lay flat against your real lashes. To apply, simply dip the trios into your favorite lash adhesive (we love the Huda Beauty Lash Glue!) and press them up along your natural lash line after you’ve applied mascara.

You’d think that clear glue would be the obvious choice to hide any sign of false lashes, right? Not quite! Clear glue can actually expose your falsies by leaving a white cast behind that accentuates glue clumps. Yuck! Dark glue is definitely the way to go—it leaves no white residue and amplifies your look by making your lashes appear darker, thicker, and larger than life!

Always be sure to apply the falsies onto your actual lashes and never onto your eyelids. If you make the mistake of gluing the false lashes onto your eyelids, you’ll likely notice empty space between your real lashes and the false lashes. Trust us, it looks anything but natural. Yikes!

It’s really up to you whether you add mascara before or after you apply your false lashes. For strip lashes, we prefer to add mascara after applying falsies to blend our natural and strip lashes together. For singles or trios, we apply mascara first to see where we need a little oomph and should, therefore, add the falsies. The choice is yours!

Pro Tip: Take the blending one step further and swipe some black liquid liner along the upper lash line to hide any seams from the false lash base/band.
