Black Opal Photo Tutorial

This jewel-toned look is every bit beautiful as it is easy to recreate—just follow the step-by-step photo tutorial! Like the dark backing of a black opal, this look uses black gel liner as a base to emphasize and intensify the play of color on the lids. Add a pair of tapered lashes to complete this regal creation!

  • Makeup Geek Eyeshadow in Creme Brulee 
  • Makeup Geek Eyeshadow in Barcelona Beach 
  • Makeup Geek Eyeshadow in Mocha
  • Makeup Geek Eyeshadow in Vanilla Bean
  • Makeup Geek Eyeshadow in Corrupt
  • Makeup Geek Pigment in Insomnia 
  • Makeup Geek  Gel Eyeliner in Immortal

BRUSHES USED:

  • Makeup Geek’s Pointed Crease Brush
  • Makeup Geek’s Pencil Brush
  • Makeup Geek’s Soft Dome Brush
  • Makeup Geek’s Small Crease Brush
  • Makeup Geek’s Bent Liner Brush 
  • A flat stiff brush (Like MAC’s 239)

STEP 1:

Apply Creme Brulee into the crease and along the lower lash line with a soft dome brush

STEP 2:

Add depth to the crease with a small crease brush and Barcelona Beach

STEP 3:

With a pointed crease brush apply Mocha to the crease and outer v

STEP 4:

Pat Immortal gel liner all over the upper lid using your ring finger or a flat stiff brush this will intensify the pigment being put on top of it

STEP 5:

With a clean flat stiff brush pat Insomnia all over the Immortal

STEP 6:

Blend Vanilla Bean into the inner corner with a clean small crease brush

STEP 7:

Darken the lower lash line with Corrupt and a pencil brush

STEP 8:

  • Line the upper lash line with Immortal and a bent liner brush, creating a wing at the outer corner and a “beak” at the inner corner
  • Apply Immortal with a bent liner brush along the lower waterline

STEP 9:

Apply a set of lashes (here I’m using Ardell Lashes Natural Demi Wispies) and your favorite mascara to your bottom lashes.
