NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil Calabria Review and Swatches

Recently I had the opportunity to try out NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Calabria. It was my first time trying a shadow pencil by NARS, so I was quite excited. As you may know, I love eyeshadow pencils (such as Urban Decay or Estee Lauder) because of the pigmentation, portability and and longevity.

Where to Buy:

SephoraNARS and Amazon for $24

The Website Claims:
Soft Touch Shadow Pencils provide easy, portable, long-wearing application. These jumbo sized pencils have versatile functionality to shade the lid, line, or highlight the eye.
Smooth, creamy texture delivers a smooth, velvety feel to the eye and make for easy blending and an ideal base for layering with a powder shadow for increased color intensity.

  • Portable application
  • Smooth, creamy, long-wearing formula
  • Easy and seamless blending
  • Ideal base for layering with powder eyeshadow to increase color intensity

While the pencil lives up to its claims of portable application, creamy formula, and easy blending, that’s it. It’s not long wearing on me. It doesn’t really last 20 minutes, with or without eyeshadow primer.

I took pictures immediately after application, at 20 minutes after application and then at 2 hours after application. This product just does not work on me. I wish it did, because I love the color and I love NARS!

While I do think the color is pretty, I found its performance disappointing. I have high expectations from NARS, and this product did not meet my expectations.

NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencils are available from Sephora, NARS and Amazon for $24 (.14 oz).

The Nars shadow pencils are dreadful and I’m surprised the company hasn’t removed them from their line entirely or reformulated them as this does not reflect well on the brand. Might as well buy a cheap NYX jumbo pencil for all that creasing or buy UD 24/7 eyeshadow pencils for something truly long-lasting/long-wearing and creaseproof.

That does look bad, but did you try layering a powder over it? I’m curious if it at least makes a decent base.

Next time try applying the pencil to just your lid and blend up to the crease. Don’t go any further. After that use a purple shadow that’s slightly lighter and brush it up to the brow. Any brand will work, as long as its close to the NYx pencil.
Sometimes creme pencils can look that way. Really need to blend.
Good luck!! Give it another try!
