Product Smackdown: Giorgio Armani Eyeshadow vs. L’Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow

If you haven’t seen any of my previous product smackdowns before, it’s where I do a comparison of two exact same products: one high end and one drugstore version. I compare all the qualities both good and bad, how they are alike and how they differ and at the end pick a winner.

Today’s smackdown is between the” Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill” vs. “L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow”. Both are cream to powder eyeshadows that boast intense pigmentation and long wear along with being crease proof and water resistant.

Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill

These became popular since the unique formula first appeared. the rich formula glides on evenly and smoothly for a highly pigmented, amazing look. The only downside to these is the price. These come in 12 permanent shades at $32.00 for 4 grams of product. I feel this is an absolutely ridiculous price for what you get when you are basically paying for the Armani name.

  • High pigmentation
  • Smooth consistency
  • Long wearing

  • Extremely over-priced
  • Could have a few more shades
Price:  $32
Where to Buy:    Amazon

L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow

These intensely pigmented eyeshadows come in 18 amazing shades. There is 3.5 grams of product per container which is just slightly less than the Armani. However, the HUGE difference is the price, at $7.00 per color, these are much more budget friendly than the other brand. I love how pigmented and smooth these are, plus they last all day!

  • Great color selection
  • Lower price
  • Smooth consistency
  • High pigmentation
  • Lower price

  • None
Price:  $7
Where to Buy:   Amazon  .  eBay  .   Most Drugstores

The obvious winner of this smackdown is…L’Oreal!  It’s the same formula at less than one quarter of the price.  With the same rich pigmentation, smooth cream to powder formula, easy application and the ease of being able to pick one up at your local drugstore, this is an easy choice.

I hope you enjoyed this “Smackdown” and try these unique eyeshadows for yourself. If you have tried them let me know what you think!  I hope you are all doing great and staying happy and healthy!

What a fabulous smack down and I now can’t wait to get the Loreal ones! Thanks Marlena, so great to be exposed to great products via your videos… You look fabulous as ever too.

I just bought the L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Flash Back Silver and Burning Black. Very beautiful colours!

Hi! I love these Loreal shadows, and own every color, but I cant get it to blend out, and they only seem to apply well if you use a finger. I find it a little difficult to create a look that way. Ive tried all of my brushes and they dont pick up and disperse the color as well. So ive been doing color blocking with them . I can place this product on my lid, but I have to use other shadows to build around it. any advice? Could you do a look using only these loreal shadows?

This was a great review! I went to pick up these shadows and they are a great find. It is so hard to know what drugstore brands are going to look like with no testers available and with reliable reviews like yours it makes it easier to find quality products that you know won’t sit at the bottom of your drawer. Thanks Marlena!

wow! those swatches of the l’oreal ones are gorgeous. however, i couldn’t get them to swatch any better than regular eyeshadow at drugstore price/quality, so they don’t look anything like that when i have tried to use them. i wish they did, but i’d really need to know what primer you used/technique because they look barely pigmented, chalky, uneven and messy when i use them.
