The Best Concealers Ever!

Hi Makeup Geeks!

You all know I love to try new makeup products, so I’ve compiled my “Best Of” series stating my favorite makeup products of all time!  My top picks are completely unbiased- I simply want to help you spend your money on only the products I know are amazing.  Trust me, I have tested, swatched, and worn just about every makeup product out there ;)

Enough blabbing…. On to the best concealers!

Best Under Eye Concealers:

Bobbi Brown Corrector

This peach tinted concealer is perfect for dark circles under the eyes as it counteracts the blueness (orange/peach is the opposite of blue on the color  wheel, therefore the colors balance each other out). The gel like consistency is perfect for under the eyes. It won’t cake up or look too dry. It glides easily, isn’t too thick, and covers extremely well.

To apply I simply take my ring finger and swipe the smallest amount under my eyes before I apply my foundation. If you don’t wear foundation, then you will need a color close to your skin- not peach. Correctors work differently than traditional concealers in that they are colored- specifically for correcting a specific issue (ie blueness under the eyes looking like dark shadows or circles).

Eve Pearl Salmon Concealer

Eve Pearl Concealer_Final

Very similar to Bobbi Brown’s Corrector, this concealer works amazingly well under the eyes! The difference is this one is a bit more pigmented in color, so ultimately it hides the blueness under the eyes better. The consistency is exactly the same as the BB one, gel like, so it glides easily without caking up.

IT Cosmetics – Bye Bye Under Eye

If you want a concealer that is meant to not only cover dark circles, but is also good for your skin, then search no further, this is it. It boasts of not only being waterproof, but having collagen and several vitamins infused into the actual product. Here’s how the company describes it: “The truly innovative formula contains high concentrations of Vitamins K, A, C, E and Collagen – clinically proven to reduce under eye puffiness and discoloration while strengthening the delicate skin of the under eye area.”

I will say this is an amazing concealer, again, very similar in texture to the Bobbi Brown and Eve Pearl, but it comes in a more convenient squeeze tube. The texture is gel like so it glides on easily, plus it is incredibly pigmented, meaning it will cover those dark circles even more, without having to use more product.

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat

Even though this is actually claimed to be a “skin brightener”, for me it works well as just a plain ole’ concealer. ;) I use this under the eyes, BUT I apply after my foundation and not before (because it is the same color as my skin and not peach like a corrector is). You do not need this in addition to correctors, as you don’t want to apply too much product, especially under the delicate eye area.

The consistency of this is a bit creamy versus a gel, but it isn’t so thick to where it emphasizes any wrinkles or crevices. If you don’t have bad dark circles, then this should be plenty coverage for you.  I suggest getting a shade lighter than your skin to help brighten up the area.

To apply, I take a soft dome brush and gently sweep this under the eyes after I apply foundation. Or you can apply straight to bare skin if you wish to skip foundation, just be sure to blend really well.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

Maybelline Concealer 01

This is without doubt the best drugstore concealer ever! This comes in a tube and has a wand much like a lipgloss would. It’s easy to apply and blends into the skin smoothly and evenly. It’s a thin, liquid formula that covers and hides imperfections incredibly well. It also hides dark under eye circles, no problem. This concealer is available in 6 different shades catering for either pink or yellow undertones. The best way to apply this is to use a soft dome brush and sweep it under the eyes or around the nose where you need it.

This has a smooth formula and doesn’t get at all cakey. It does have a slight smell but is nothing offensive or too harsh. I find this is a great dupe for the YSL Touche Éclat. This is ideal for those days when you don’t want to wear a full face of foundation but still want to cover any darkness or imperfections you may have.

Best Concealers for Blemishes:

MAC Studio Finish Concealer

MAC Concealer_Final

The difference between undereye concealers and blemish concealers is simply the texture: concealers that work best on blemishes have a thicker, creamier texture. I love this MAC one as it covers incredibly well and doesn’t look cakey like some cream concealers can. It comes in a convenient little pot which is great for travel, and it is available in a variety of different shades (I am NC30 right now- yay for a tan! haha).

Price: $14

Where to buy: Amazon . MAC

Makeup For Ever Camouflage Cream

This palette was my first love for concealers! I love how well it covers my blemishes and how it doesn’t get cakey. The texture is almost exactly like MAC’s Studio Finish, but it includes 5 shades in one sleek palette, perfect for custom blending. To apply, I dab my finger (clean finger *cough cough*) into the concealer and dab over the blemish. Do NOT swipe as it will streak instead of covering the blemish, especially if it is raised.

If you need just a little coverage under the eyes, this could work, but be sure to apply with a soft dome brush so you get a super thin layer.

Price: $36

Where to buy: Sephora . E-Bay . Amazon

Dermablend Cover Creme

Dermablend Concealer 01

This lightweight creme is perfect for hiding blemishes, dark circles and redness. The creamy formula melts into the skin leaving a flawless finish to the skin. I simply dip my finger (clean of course) into the pot and dab it over the places I want to cover. The long lasting formula doesn’t appear dry or cakey.

This comes in a range of 21 shades broken down into 5 skin types; fair, light, medium, tan and deep. There are 4 shades in each group except for the tan which has 5 shades to choose from. This means there is a great shade range for everyone regardless of whether you have pink or yellow undertones.

She used it in the “How to Conceal Undereye circles” video. Not sure why its not here…

Yep, I’ve used it :) It actually works really well! I didn’t include in this list as I felt it is overpriced for how much you get, and since using the Eve Pearl one, I like it a bit better :)

With the Peter Thomas Roth concealer, what is the other end of the “tube”. It looks double sided… Where can i buy this along with the Eve Pearl other than thier own web sites?

I trust your reviews before anyone else on the web. I know you have tried soo many products, which is why i dont ask if you have used other concealers, because you have probably tried them, and they didnt compare to the ones you have on your list. Thank you.

The other end of the Peter Thomas Roth is a highlighter :) I don’t like it as much as it’s very liquidy… but I love the concealer!

I’m curious why Benefit’s Erase Paste isn’t on here. What about it don’t you like. I’ve been considering buying it and trust your opinion very much.

I hate the Erase Paste! It’s looks really cakey and sits in the fine lines under the eyes making them looks worst! Really not a great buy for me. And I heard so many complains for this thing…

I felt the same- was waaayyy too cakey for me :( It’s very thick which is great for blemishes, but makes it very hard to blend

I usually go to alot of stores like mac, sephora, and macys. I spent like thousands of dollars on makeup that I love. Can you tell me what concealer you love best?

I love Erase Paste for my under eyes. It’s so creamy, and I’ve learned I need less than I think. I also had to get the #2 to darken the #1 up a bit. I have horrible dark circles and I pat these lightly on top and set with MUFE HD finish or ELF’s HD finishing powder and it lasts, covers and brightens. Marlena doesn’t have the dark circles I do so probably didn’t obsess over this product like me. I really recommend Erase paste.

I had the Erase Paste for a few months, and while it did a fairly good job, it tended to disappear a little during the day, and the color was so-so. When it ran out, I traded it for the MAC Studio Finish and it’s WONDERFUL. It’s basically the same as the Erase Paste, but it stays put, covers better, the packaging is easier to use and it comes in tons and tons of colors. I also think it’s cheaper.

I love you and I really trust your opinion, but I do not get the love for the Eve Pearl Salmon concealer. I picked it up a few months ago. It slides around like crazy, no matter how I apply it. I am very fair with dark circles, but it is so super orange. If I try to use a regular concealer (not a corrector) over it or foundation over it to tone down the orange, it just slides everywhere. I just do not understand the raves for this product.

Do you have oily skin at all? You need just a little bit, and definitely apply under your foundation. Not sure why it’s sliding so much :( I wonder if you got an old one…. Are you using primer under it? (if so, try without to see if it stays better)

hi marlena how r u ?
m ur big fan m from pakistan i watced all ur videos n m also a beautician i want some training from u n wana job in ur sdaloon plz contact me m very thankful to u if u reply me m waiting marlena tc GOD bless u n be happy

I’m using MAC Studio Finish Concealer and it works well on my dark circle. By reading this article I know more about anothet great concealer. I think I’m gonna try Bobbi Brown :)

Thank you Marlena

Omg!! I lovd all this conealers!! All are so cool!! but I need to say than my favoryite definitely is the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat… ^..^

I really LOVE the Mally Beauty Concealer, you can get it at QVC or her website. It really covers and when she says its “bullet proof” she is not kiddin. It lasts all day.

Marlena, I would love to know what concealer or makeup you recommend to hide sun spots or melasma. Im treating mine and staying out of the sun, but can’t help what is still left behind. Please help! Thanks! :)

I was wondering if anyone has tried the benifit bo-oing ones and what you think..i have #2

I love benefit boing! I use it for my blemishes and under eye circles, and all my clients ;)

Marlena, can you write an article on your Top 10 eyeshadow primers or maybe just your favorites please? I would really appreciate it! Oh and thank you for doing this! I’ve been searching for concealers lately and now I’m sold on the MAC one. :)

heyy!! ur really pretty! i like how u do ur makeup!! :) which one should i use first concealor or primer?? whats primer for? whats concealor for?

Use primer first. Primer is to “prime” your skin for makeup. Concealer is meant to conceal, or cover up any imperfections on the face :)

How about the Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette? There are also 4 shades, very blendable and does not accentuate fine lines under the eyes like the Amazing Cosmetics one does for me. And its price is definitely a bonus!

Have you used any Graftobian products? I’d love to hear your opinion on them. I picked up their color corrector palette at IMATS and ordered their cream HD Foundation online. It’s the ONLY foundation I’ve ever found that perfectly matches my super pale skin!

I really like Graftobian’s concealer for under the eyes- it glides easily, but I had a hard time matching my skin with them… That’s good you found one to match your skin- so many companies don’t do a wide range of colors!

Hi Marlena,
What concealer would you recomend for light dark circles and a little bit of blemishes here and there :)

I would get the coastal scents camo quad as they are good for both the eyes and blemishes :D

I’m in the market for a new concealer, but a healthy one is hard to find. I’m especially concerned about the ingredients because concealer is applied around the eyes and on blemishes… While none of these products are rated on, I can tell from looking at the ingredients listed on the manufacturers’ or Sephora websites that some of them don’t seem very safe. Do you have any thoughts about any natural products? Korres, perhaps? Or the new one from Tarte with amazonian clay?

I feel the same way…i actually bought 2 concealers recently from sephora by TARTE and its all natural and chemical free and both the stick one for blemishes and the potted one for undereye have done a great job for me especially when I don’t wear alot of makeup on a daily basis but sometimes i just need to cover dark underyes of blemishes-it lasts long too-check it out…hope it helps

I as well, do not understand the love for the eve pearl concealer. I can’t get it to stay under my eyes, therefore there is no coverage. I do not have oily skin! I guess I will try it without a primer and see if that works.

Let me know if using it without a primer helps? I use mine with a primer as my eyes are a bit more dry, but I don’t have any problem with it staying… I use on clients a bit too. I hope it works better for you!

I, too, am not feeling the love for Eve Pearl. I’ve been using it for several months, with primer and without, and under my foundation and it slides off by the time I’m done putting on my foundation. I’ve tried several different applications – those from your videos and from the Eve Pearl website but it just doesn’t seem to work on me. It seems to provide the coverage when I first put it on, but again, by the time I’ve finished putting on my foundation, it’s disappeared. My skin is not oily so I don’t understand why it doesn’t work.

I have naturally tan skin and very dark blue/purple circles. It’s been so frustrating to not be able to find the right product. Any recommendations you have, I’m sure all of us with this issue will appreciate!

Thanks for all you do! I love your site and am looking forward to you bringing in models of all types for your tutorials! That will be such a great help!

It works best but If you have oily skin it may slide due to it’s gel like consistency. I works okay for normal/dry skin. :D

Hey Marlena! I absolutely adore you and your videos/articles! I have a question… I really want to try the mac one, but I want to know if you can also use it under your eyes as well as on blemishes? I barely get dark circles, but when I do, i’d like to use the MAC to cover them. (And I have blemishes to cover just about everyday) I’ve been searching for a good concealer, so I hope I like the MAC! :D thanks!

Hey Marlena! Thank you for your wonderful tips. Because of your previous tips listing the MAC studio finish concealer as your top choice for covering blemishes, I was able to choose the right product for myself. Okay, enough kissing up. :) I have two questions: firstly, I don’t always wear foundation, so would it make sense for me to buy two products for undereyes? One for the time I don’t wear foundation (such as the BB corrector); and a second for the times I do wear foundation (such as the IT concealer)? Also, if I were to look for an inexpensive, low-end drugstore brand of concealer, would you suggest Neutrogena’s 3-in-1 concealer? I am a sucker for SPF. Thanks again for all your help.

oops, i got them switched… of course, as marlena instructed, the BB with foundation, and the IT without foundation..but is it practical/economical to have each type for each occassion?

What do you recommend for very fair, sensitive skin Marlena? I use Dior Nude Natural Glow Hydrating Makeup (010 Ivory) and am currently using a MUFE concealer that a Sephora artist recommended but I find that it is a little dark and hasn`t always blended well (more noticeable under fluorescent light).

My primary concern is residual redness from blemishes. Light under-eye circles.

I think concealer is the most important part of your makeup routine. so i was thrilled to see this article :)

I have been watching both Marlena for such a long time! She has inspired me and motivated me to make my own youtube channel :)

It would mean the world to me, if you checked out my beauty youtube channel!

Benefit’s Erase Paste is definitely, definitely, the best concealer for eyes with lower hollowness. The hollowness in the eyes are not under-eye circles. It is just the natural shape of the eye in which less fat is deposited in that area. Unfortunately, this gives a very, VERY, tired look even if you have rested well since there is a natural green/blue discoloration on the whole lids. I myself have green veins showing through my lower lids which is really frustrating and untolerable O_o !! At last, after my long journey in search for the right concealer, I found Benefit’s Erase Paste the best with its thick & sticky consistency which gives the illusion of fuller lower lids and amazing staying power. However, i do find that reapplying it each 3 hours or so helps in maintaining it as it tends to fade away in heat of the atmosphere. Ciao ~ <3 Thankyou Marlena for the reviews.

hello Marlena, I´m looking for some concealer, because I have very dark and bad hyperpigmentation. So i wanted ask you about colour and how to work, how to hide it.. Products for bright it does not work, and im using 50+ now I´m in Miami so I´m using 100% uv block.. But still it s pretty dark. It make me feel sad and uncomfortable. Please help, i can send pic of my face in email. Thank you k.

The Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette is great too–it’s a really creamy consistency and comes with 3 concealer shades (a skin tone shade, a peach-ish undereye correcting shade, and a green toned blemish/redness correcting shade) and a translucent powder. It’s $10 from Target. I actually really like it, and it’s lasted me a long time. Have you tried it, Marlena?

Hello Marlena, could you please do a review on Inglot concealers sometime? I live in Europe and 90% of these brands are not available here and since I’ve seen you posted a video reviewing some of the Inglot products, it would mean the world to me to hear your opinion abt their concealers :)

Hi Marlena! Wanted to ask you if you still recommend the Benefit brighting powder the one that comes in a little round pinkish container to use I’ve your concealer(undereye) you uses ir in One Of yogur tutorials :) thanks!

Hi Marlena, I was wondering if you have ever used Hard Candy concealer? I bought this after watching your concealer tutorial (for the colors only I know you did not use Hard Candy in the video) My biggest problem is that the darker color is heavier then the 2 lighter shades making it hard to blend. Do you have a favorite concealer compact that would have the 3 shades plus yellow, green, and pink. Thanks for taking time to answer our questions. You are looking great keep up the great work. I am starting my diet tomorrow new month and a new me. Please keep the tutorials coming I love them.

Marlena can you help me with large pores on my check? I have tried several. The older I get the worse they get. Please help. I use the Clarosic and purity made simple to clean. I have tried several concealer but I would like your advice. Thanks

Hi marlena, what shade would you recommend in vyes saint laurent? I am nc 37-40 and have really dark under eye circles.PLSSSS HELP!!!!

I would honestly recommend taking a look at Maybelline Super Stay 24hr Concealer. Despite not normally purchasing Maybelline cosmetics, I picked this one up to hold me over until my MAC Studio Finish Concealer was shipped. (It’s torture not having a MAC near me!) Honestly? I don’t think I’ll be shelling out the cash to have MAC concealer shipped to me anymore. This stuff is amazing for under-eye circles.

Definitely caught me by surprise.

I dunno if it is becoz of my undereye skin and my dark circle.

I tried half of the products u suggested and they are not really good for undereye.

For the BB one, if I put a thick layer, no matter with my concealer brush or my finger, which I can cover 70% of my dark circle. But it will be really dry instantly even I put on eye cream before and end up with a cakey eyes. And my undereyes become worse if I put on both of the corrector and concealer. If I put a thin layer, it won’t become cakey, but just cover 10-20% of my dark circle.

For the YSL, it is good, if u just wanna have a natural no makeup makeup. Coz It just can cover a little of the dark circle. Similar as cover by foundation.

For the Coastal Scents, I like the colour. But it is quite dry for eyes. So I just use it for shading. And it is really good!

For the Laura Mercier, I didn’t use it for covering my eyes as well, but I use if for covering my acnes spots. And it is good!

Try Benefit’s Erase paste, it has a thick, sticky consistency that covers up really well. The best way to apply it is by patting once into the container with ur middle finger then patting it all over the lower lid. After that set it with a translucent powder of ur choice =) However, this product suits green undereye circles best, not BLUE circles as the color of the concealer is pinkish to cancel out the greenness of the lid.

Thanks for the tips! I also LOVE love the MAC concealer that’s more of a liquid and comes in a little squeeze tube. I use NW20 and it’s light yet covers!

Love this article! I’m glad to have a few to try when my Eve Pearl runs out!

For those who don’t like it… I honestly didn’t care much for it at first. I felt like it didn’t really cover much, and I had a lot of slipping as well. But, I don’t know if I got better at applying, or if my eyes realized this was what was going on at got used to it? lol either way, now I really like it! The price for me is a little steep for a concealer, but honestly, I cannot see myself running out of it anytime soon. I’ve had it for 2 months, and you can barely tell I’ve used it.

Thanks for all of your hard working reviewing products, Marlena! You are my fave beauty guru, and I really trust your opinions!

Great list!

I like creamy comcealers and always use Clinique’s which comes in a lip gloss type tube. How do you find it compares to the ones on your list?

which brand or type of concealer would be best 4 me to use,i am a black lady, i av light complexion, like the complexion of tyra banks or rhianna…….what would you suggest i use?

hi marlena i love your work but i was wondering out of all 10 concealers which concealer would you rate to be number one in covering the blue from the dark circles i need something with the best coverage please! thanks

I’m surprised Cle de Peau was not on this list. MUA and cosmetologist over here, and it is the best concealer I have ever used, hands down. I’ve tried it all, from inexpensive to high end, MAC, Makeup Forever, Benefit, Too Faced, Clinique, etc and no one holds a candle to Cle de Peau. It is really pricey($70-75 @ Neimans, Nordstroms, etc) but for me, it’s honestly worth every penny. It conceals my dark circles(SEVERE dark circles at that), brightens, doesnt look cakey or get into the creases around my eye and the texture is so silky!

There are only the concealers for darkcircles and blemishes. I don’t have any of it. But i have many freckles. So i’m using concealer,it hides them. But not perfect. I’m always unhappy with this.
So i want to know what concealer is the best for covering the freckles.(sorry, I.m not so good at English :D)

I have used Bobbi Brown for over a decade. LOVE it. Well, I decided to cheat on Bobbi and purchased Cover FX’s concealer. While I would love it if I wasn’t addicted to the Bobbi one, I just can’t seem to quit her!

Hi Marlena,

I went to buy the Bobbi Brown corrector. The BB makeup artist insisted that the corrector is not brightening and that I couldn’t buy the corrector without the concealer. I could only buy one so I ended up buying the concealer. I’m still doubting my purchase because i know you reviewed the corrector. Can I use the corrector as a concealer? What do you think of the BB concealer?

I absolutely love you’re videos and you’re blog! I was looking into macs pro long wear concealer, and i have normal to little oily skin. Would you recommend it?

I love your blog, and your videos! But i was wondering what drugstore concealers you recommend, as I don’t want to spend so much. Thank you!:)

I currently use the yellow in the Coastal Scents Color Corrector Quad. I find the texture creamy and easy to work with. I actually blend it with the NYX orange concealer in a jar and they works really well.

I was just about to splurge on the ysl éclat, but then saw the Clarins review that said it was better, so now I’m really wondering which one is better! It’s conflicting information! A response would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

hello,, i really like to watch everything you do

am using Diorskin sculpt,, mmm i wonder if it’s good?

thanks, wish you all the best sweety -k-

Marlena, I’m using MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation NC42, but the concealer NC42 looks kind of dark in the pictures of the product so I’m not sure of order it. What color exactly do you think I should use?

Hey Marlena ! Just wondering, could you do a list like this one, but with drugstore concealers ? :D Muchly Appreciated <3 Btw, You were one of the first makeup gurus I ever watched, and you are truely a beautiful inspiration, and I cant help but smile whenever I see a new video or post from you :) Stay Beautiful.

Is there any video of the top 5 or top 10 drugstore concealers? I sometimes find many concealers are overpriced or that some just don’t hide those darn under eye circles. When I go to the drugstore there are sooooo many choices that I don’t know which concealer to try. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated :) thanx

hi marelena i have a typical indian complexion not to fair not at all dark.but i have very prominient dark circles rest of my face is very clear so dark circles are highlighted even more. the problem is except for mac no other brand which u have suggested is available here if i have to get it shipped then i am very confused which shade will go on my face if u can help me out.

Hi sonali, I have the same problem that you have with very dark under eye circles. I tried a few products but I really like Bobbi Brown corrector and Laura Mercier concealer. I got a light shade in the corrector and a darker shade in concealer so I can blend them when I have a tan. The Laura Mercier has a little oilier texture but it really blends well with the Bobbi Brown.
