Meals to Lose Weight by: Mexican Salad

 

Ingredients:

  • Romain Lettuce
  • Shredded Carrots
  • Yellow Bell Pepper  (or red)
  • Tomatoes
  • Green Onions
  • Corn
  • Kidney Beans
  • Ground Turkey flavored with taco seasoning (Optional)

Dressing:

  • Lighthouse Lite Salsa Ranch
  • Salsa
My daily meal plan includes a salad everyday for either lunch or dinner. BUT to stick with your healthy lifestyle, you have to switch it up and eat different salads each day so you don’t get bored.  I’ll do a few more videos soon on some other great salads :)

Here’s some key ingredients I always keep on hand to make some yummy salads!
  • shredded carrots
  • mushrooms
  • kidney or black beans
  • garbanzo beans
  • shredded rotisserie chicken
  • crunched baked tortilla chips
  • finely chopped green onions (not as strong as the regular onions)
  • shredded cabbage
  • walnuts

This looks fantastic Marlena! I’ve been following your weight loss and watching your beauty videos for awhile now and you have been part of my motivation to lose weight. Im almost 17 and im overweight. I’ve had extensive health problems since puberty with my thyroid along with many other things. But with your encouraging words i’m happy to say i have lost 19 pounds and still losing, the natural healthy way. Thank you so much for the inspiration, and i hope to hear back from you?

I’ve never had problems concerning my weight ( even though I sometimes go nuts over a few extra ounces) but I really admire you. Hey Marlena,
I noticed that when you chop, you hold the knife incorrectly. Many people do this, I learned about the correct hold in cooking school. I’m not trying to nit-pick, it’s just when you hold your knife with your pointer finger resting on top, you can get carpal tunnel syndrome. So, when you hold your knife, keep your pointer finger curled down with the rest of your fingers, it’ll be a little hard to get used to at first, but you’ll have a better grip on your knife and will avoid carpal tunnel syndrome. We need you to have those MUG hands in good shape so we can get more wonderful tutorials!

Hi Marlena! I’m so excited for these videos! I’ve been waiting awhile for them and they’re here! First let me say I have been following you on MakeupGeek since just after you started, I have learned so much from you about makeup, I constantly get compliments on my makeup but I have also started getting makeup jobs as well…. BUT BUT BUT that is not the reason I ann posting this, since you started sharing your weight loss journey with us and posting your video how to’s I, as of.2 days ago, lost 50 lbs since last october! I have been more active but not necessarily working out at all (yet) but I’ve lost those 50 lbs by not dieting, but doing a life style change… I cannot thank you enough for giving me a new perspective on being healthy and not just skinny, I still plan to lose another 50-70 lbs more by really starting to exercise and shaping my food intake better but I am so thankful for you, you are a wonderful woman, beautiful inside and out and you have helped me so very much, as you do for so many other women as well…thank you -Crystal

I started last February and I have lost almost 50 lbs! I also quit smoking and I feel so much better. This salad was delicious! I did add cheese and a handful of tortillas but skipped the ranch dressing in favor of the salsa and added a little taco sauce for kick. I am going to try this for dinner with some broiled seasoned steak. I cut out a lot of processed food and simple carbs and I have noticed my skin is looking better. Has anyone else had this happen also? Maybe it is that i am drinking 8 cups of water a day religiously?

I love this post! Even though this is a make-up blog, I’m looking forward to seeing more healthy recipes.

How many lunches did you get from this or was this one meal? I really need to get my eating on track! Thank you!

Hi Marlena, just to let you know you have fans in Brazil and is good to see you’re going in the right direction seeking a more healthy style of life and gain the benefits of it. Put out weight is part of the pathway, but it’s really important change habits and take care to let that weight go for good and keep going. Obesity is a open door for lot of diseases like diabetes, high blod pressure, stroke and heart attack. It’s crucial incorporate physical exercise in ours (mine included, and I’m working hard for it) daily routines. Before that I sugest to everyone see a Doctor to get ready for it……you can start just walking ,but keep in mind when you build muscles you are increasing your fat burn even when you’re not moving, due to keep the body working……
Becareful with beans and corn they’re full of calories!!!!
