Actually, you can use Prestige eyeliners from the drugstore! They’re soft and creamy and not too expensive

It was a MAC brush that was limited- can’t find it on the site right now
But, the MUG deluxe crease brush should work- that’s the one I used when I first tried this look and it worked pretty well 
This looks like a brush I just got from Sigma. It is a Small Tapered Blending Brush E45. It works really well in the crease.
It’s the MAC 226 brush. It was limited edition but crops up randomly in various collections. You can probably find it at a CCO if you can’t wait for it

Well last weekend Goddess me and the Misses went to a horse racing event and low and behold looking through the runners … in the 15.30 race thiers was a horse called .. Marlenas Surprise .. on a 8 to 1 odds ……
So we went to the paddock area .. and what a fine Fillie she was .. A lovely long black mane, super fit body and a well rounded Hine quarters to give Malenas Surprise the thrust she needs!
Sure enough at 15.30 see was off …. and did she …. Romp on …. what a Go,er …. as Marlenas Surprise …. Chomping at the bit for nearly 2 mins of full Thrust action, she was giving her rider the Ride of thier life ….. before giving one last Bolt and …. Shot to the Finish! ……………….
She finished in a well deserved 3rd place and we went to the winners 3 enclosure and i managed to give her a nice stoke and tickle under her chin … although i thought some of your gorgeous Goddess fake eye lashes would look very nice on her

Just wanted to ask you I started to use the morracan shampoo I love it is soft but my hair is still a little frizzi. I use the morracan oil that they sell in the sallys beauty supply. I use it but still a little frizzi. What do you suggest I do? Can you help me? thanks
I would use a hair mask just on the ends of your hair- many companies have an overnight treatment or mask of some sort. I put some on the ends of my hair once a month and sleep in it overnight, then rinse in the morning

Yep! Sephora has some really nice brushes- I can’t remember the exact numbers, but they all have been nice
Also we have some really good ones in the MUG store that are cheap (I promise I’m not just trying to make a buck), but I really like the Deluxe Outer V brush, the blush brush, and deluxe foundation stippling one- those are my favs. Also, the soft dome brush is VERY close to the MAC 224

This is one of my favorite looks-ever! I have Pout and it is definitely one of my lipglosses that I reach for frequently. I almost picked up that palette at Sephora in August, but wasn’t sure if I would really like it.
I noticed alot of MUGS commenting about budgets and asking for dupes, suggesting what we ALL know, times are hard in this economy!! So Marlena and The Wonder Team @ makeupgeek.com, I was hoping you could research some cosmetic lines that I’ve been testing that I’m swiftly falling in love with. They are cheap in price, high in pigments, but there are few that are not golden. one is called KLEAN COLOR, then theres KISS, & L.A. COLORS. I’m on a budget but my makeup hobby is very active so I shop makeup twice a week, this site has stoked my addiction and dream to do freelance pro makeup! Thanx for the tut, I’ll try this for work tonight!
Where can you get KLEAN and KISS makeup? I’ve heard of LA colors, but not the other two…
There are TONS of “Mom-n-Pop” shop type of beauty supply stores in Detroit and most of them carry different combinations of those lines. If you could Email me somewhere I can send you a couple of their products, I’d be glad to, I’m always giving friends random products for them to try so it’s no biggie. They also have a website you can order from but you really have to see them in person to get why I would even consider trying them. now I cant stop buying them!

Don’t get MAC foundations! I hate to say it as I love MAC products, but many of their foundations break you out
I would actually try the Revlon Colorstay first to see if you like.
For other MAC products I really think their eyeshadows are the best as well as their lipsticks. I have a couple articles on what colors are my favorites and even took pictures of some swatches so you can decide

I always bought MAC foundation but when i saw that you use Neutrogena Healthy Skin in some of your tutorials… I love this, its so light but with a great coverage. I use MAC foundation for years & never thought it would cause break outs but now that i use Neutrogena i have notice that i dont break out as much! I have combination skin

I haven’t really tried Pixi products yet- just a little at Target. They seem really nice quality, but aren’t worth the price compared to other brands. That’s just my opinion
This look is very beautiful. I wonder what you do when you are doing makeup on a client and want to use lipgloss like the one in this video. How can you use the same lipgloss on more than one person? I understand when it’s in a pot or in an open palette, but not in a tube.

You need to get disposable lipgloss wands and dip in the tube one per client- if you need more gloss, toss the wand away and grab a new one. You can get them at most beauty supply stores or even on ebay

You could probably get the same look with a sparkly silver nail polish, but since my nails break easily (I do so much with my hands that I’m rough on my nails!) I get them done at a salon.

I’m fair skinned (FAIR SKINNED like almost see-thru. jk. not that fair.) and i have dark red hair. I want to wear something other than just clear gloss, but everything I try makes me look like a clown!!! What would you suggest for a lipstick/gloss/stain/whatever?
I’m 24, and didn’t start wearing makeup regularly until a year ago.
Also, I’m no professional, but I recommend a nude shade if you’re not sure. I like L’Oreal’s Colour Riche in shade 862, the name is (surprisingly…lol) Nude. The only drawback to this one is that it kind of tastes… flowery.
If you want a sparkley lipgloss, the Kat von D Lightning Sheer Lipgloss in Stripper (if your Sephora still has it, but it’s discontinued) or Retox (it’s pale pink with irridescent sparkle)
For NYX lipglosses, I like the Megashine one in Sunshine. It looks yellowy, but I swear it goes on almost clear. Marlena will also no doubt recommend Beige, which is a light pink, or Natural, which is a beigey-nude. There’s a fairly new article here on the site that has recommendations on other NYX lipglosses, which also tells you which are best suited to different skintones:

I was going to do this look today, but it’s all gloomy outside, so I can’t take any pic’s Boo. To tell you the truth this is one of your best looks yet, I can’t wait to try it. I don’t have the pallette, but I have the SmashBox one that was from Ulta I think, it came with like 78 shadows, brow bar, lip gloss, gel liners, I’m sure you know which one I am talking about so I know I will find a dup. The 88 palette is the best for duping almost anything. The SmashBox set I have even has a green gel liner, not exact, but I use what ever is the closiest. Hope you are doing good, and it’s nice to finaly join the crowd. I work with forums at my comany so I don’t really use them, but for you, my hero ANYTHING! MUCH LOVE.

Costal Sents I think is the best for dups. You can get a paiette of 88 shadows for like 20 bucks, that is what I almost always use for my dups. it is a website costalsents.com but I you will have close to any color you need. Drug Store brand are still really pricy.I would save up for that 88 or 78 palette cause the 78 palette you get a bunch of blushes too, I think in your case 78 would be best. Good luck and I hope you can save. Or ask for nothing but makeup for xmas, thats what I’m doing haha.

Hey Gabriela- I am not Marlena but I would recommend light peach in the BB Corrector if you are a NW20…..I am NW25 and I use light peach….Hope that helps……

I noticed you listed the bobby brown color corrector for the undereye area in “deep peach” as a product you use on your face. how much do you like it? i have severe dark undereye circles (basically due to transparent skin!) and i have thought about investing but i dont know what color to get. i am light to medium skin – usually in the yellow-er beige family
Ok, so…I thought me and my bestie were the only non-artists just ridiculously addicted to MAC/makeup! Then I became familiar with the MUG videos on YouTube. Suffice it to say, I’m glad I’m not the only one “embracing my makeup addiction!”

Hi Marlena!!!!!!! I’m such a fan of you and the website. I love all of your tutorials; they’re soooo informative!!!!!! I’m always learning something new. Have a question for you: I’m a lighter-skinned African-American woman, and I’m having a hard time finding foundation in the drug store. I’ve been wearing MAC since 1998, and it has always worked for me. (no breakouts or allergic reactions) After watching some of your tutorials, I went to Ulta and Wal-Mart to find Revlon Colorstay foundation. It looks like the colors are either too light or too dark. I’ve been wearing NC42 in liquid foundation and C40 in Studio Fix powder foundation. Any suggestions? Thank you!!!!!

hey marlena i was wondering about something.. i purchased a smashbox cream liner about 3 months ago and im not sure how to use it because i tried using a liner brush and it just didnt grab enough color to see on the lids im not sure if i need to put something on them so the brush can grab more color.. please help

Thanks so answering my lipgloss question. It was such a simple answer, but sometimes you need someone else to point these things out:) So I was curious what you do with your lipsticks. Do you break them off and put them in a lipstick palette? If not how do you use those per client? You can use a lipstick brush, but if you need more color than what you originally put on the brush, do you wash the brush…? Thanks so much!!!!!
I found a guy on you tube that shows a very easy way to make your own lipstick pallettes though im not sure of his name. If you type HOW TO FIX BROKEN MAKEUP, and search the sidebar for a guy with the word CHICKEN in his name, he has a great method. basicly you would go to a craft stor e like MICHAELS and buy a stackable plastic container, they come in stacks of 5. Shoot over to the isle where they have painting tools, and you’ll find these little disposable paint scrapers. sanitize the little pots and caps with %90 alcohol, and with plastic gloves, wiggle the whole piece of lipstick gently off the tube. use the spatula if its easier. I have re-potted about 20 lipsticks, still working on the other 50! Good luck, hope this helps.

Love, love this look.Thank you for all your instruction. I’ve been following you on YouTube for a least a year and you have influenced how i apply my makeup. Best tip ever is applying a shadow over lower lid eye pencil. I now have an outline the lasts all day.
