How to Curl Your Lashes like a Pro
My favorite Lash Curlers:
Shu Uemura
This lash curler has been a favorite among makeup artists for years now- its soft rubber pad holds curl well and applies just the right amount of pressure. I did realize however that many stores are not selling this brand anymore… But if you can snatch it, it works really well!
Price: $19
Where to Buy: .. Amazon . eBay
Tarte
This is my new favorite lash curler! When I found out my beloved Shu Uemura one wasn’t being sold everywhere, I asked which one to try and I was told this Tarte one worked really well. The handle on this is easy to use, and the rubber pad also holds curl well. The shape of the curler fits perfectly around all my lashes also. Great new find!
Price: $15
MUG Brow Brush Duo
I like this brush as it’s dual ended- one side for filling in brows, the other for separating lashes or combing through brows. Not a bad price, and does the job
Price: $4.29
Where to Buy: Makeup Geek Store
Tips for Curling Your Lashes:
- Start at the base of your lashes and make sure to get all lashes in the curler. Hold for 3 seconds- no longer or it will crimp the lashes instead of curling them
- Curl the lashes in 3 segments- at the base, middle of the lash, then tip of the lash to get that natural curl
- Use a good quality curler- it makes all the difference in getting curled lashes that stayed curled all day!
- To separate the lashes, use a spoolie or apply mascara (my favorite mascaras will be posted soon
)

Thanks for that Marlena!
Good timing…I was just about to go out and buy a lash curler!
Thanks!
Thanks Marlena,I didn’t do it quite like you!! Now I know… Your biggest fan,
Erica
That Tarte lash curler is soooo cute, I’m gonna have to get me one now, just cuz it has purple rhinestones, lol. Hope you’re feeling a bit better today.
I usually need to separate my lashes after I put on mascara, should I do it also with the brush?
Hi Marlena, I am glad to hear that you are feeling better. Please don’t rush for work or anything else rest as much as you can and as much as needed . Please make sure that, that your wounds are healed properly. You know that health is wealth.
take care love u, bye for now
I want to get my hand on one of these Shu Uemura curler too but
would you really recommend buying it on eBay? or the actual site?
I see that eBay sell it for cheap, but I’m afraid if it’s authentic brand.
hey marlena hope your feeling better love your videos!! Are you going to do a review for MAC wonder woman collection ? Thanks
THANK you! I pinched my eyelid with this before years ago so I’ve stayed away from the lash curler i think i will try it again!
Hi Marlena! I’ve been watching your videos for ages now – you have taught me from scratch how to do my makeup credibly! Thankyou sooooo much!
(I’m from Australia
)
Although I have a problem with my eyelash curler – I have small eyes, and my lash line ‘curves’ a lot, and so I find that my eyelash curler is too ‘straight’ if you know what I mean…I can’t get all my lashes in the curler, and end up only curler about half, no matter what angle I hold the curler at…it is quite frustrating!
I’m guessing that I need a curler that is more curved. Any idea where I could get one like this?
Does anyone has tried the Mac one i have been tempet to buy it but im not suree!
Thanks
I LOVE the MAC eyelash curler!!! It works great! I think it’s $18
Hello,
Is there a life span for a lash curler? I have had mine for over 5 years, not sure if I should toss it and upgrade? Is there a detriment for keeping a curler for that long?
Thanks!
Shu Uemura pulled out distribution to the U.S. so that is why they are hard to come by in stores now. The last of them are being sold
I totally agree, the best eyelash curler ever!
I have the tarte eyelash curler but mine doesn’t have those cute rhinestones! where did you get that? I checked amazon, sephora and ebay and they don’t have one with rhinestones.
Hi Marlena, I was hoping you would give some tips on how to curl lashes after you have all your eye makeup on and you’re ready for mascara. (Which is when I always curl mine – right before application) it seems like the metal part of the curler ALWAYS pulls off my eyeliner and I end up having to redo it every time. It’s so frustrating. Do you have any tips on how to curl them without the metal part sticking to and pulling off eyeliner?? i don’t like to curl my lashes until I’m ready for mascara, so it seems pointless to curl before I put all my eye makeup on – they won’t still be curled by the time I’m ready for mascara? There has to be a trick to this….
HELP! thanks!
Love your tutorials….
Renee
Hi, I know I’m not the person who you exactly want to talk to but how I would do it is curl your lashes and then put you’re mascara on. Let it dry so that you wont get mascara on you’re hand and when it’s dry put whatever you put on you’re eyes and (I dont know if you put liqiud or pencil but it will work on both) and then put you’re eye liner on.
yeah, I should try that. I tend to always need to reapply liner after I curl anyway! Might as well just apply mascara first and then do my eyeliner.
You can get the Shu Uemura one on Ebay for $4 free shipping!

is there a very good mascara formula for curling them or that dries real fast so they stay in that shape? is? it if its not good to curl your lashes? my hair stylist said its not good cos u pull them from their roots and modify the structure of hair by putting pressure on them, just like with our hair…what have you found out about this?
i curl my lashes (i have very bad lashes they look? down and they are REALLY straight) i put on falsies and then u can see the two layers, cos mine go back down!!!!
I seem to get my eyelids in the curler all the time, is this because of the actual curler or am I just not doing it right? The quality of the curler might be horrid, not sure??? Luv Ya and thank you! Callie
Great video! I don’t use an eyelash curler myself though because I have really big eyes with a long lashline and I have yet to find a curler that can get them all in
So I just stick to a curling mascara. Any tips on curlers for bigger eyes are welcome though?
Okay, I have just turned a teen , finally , and i have basically watched all your videos. I’m pretty sure you have my e-mail because it made me put it in and i have a couple of questions , if you could please email me!
hello. i was wondering if this is ok because i put mascara on first and then curl it but it really hurts when i take the curler off because my lashes stick on the metal bit
Marlena,
I am a Flight Attendant and a Esthethician and I so love your web site, it’s so informative and easy to use. I hope your feeling better, you look great. I was wondering if you could do a favorite’s mineral powder. I have oily skin and want the coverage but don’t want my makeup to look to thick. Thank you and get better soon.

(((((
Now eyelash curling isn’t something new, and of course isn’t something nice for your eyelashes. It gives nice look, but it can make them thin and they can fall off. Please never use heated curlers. They do more damage than the ordinary!
heyyyy i loved your new look you looked sexy
heyyy!!!!!!!!! i love wat you have done .your whole make over loooks awsome.
i love your newtransformation and i was wondering if you would want to go on a date with me if you do call me 623-330-5129
Hey Marlena, you do fantastic work!!! My problem here is that my eyelashes aren’t long enough to grasp without getting my lid
I really don’t know what to do about this!!! Urrghh
Thanks a lot Marlena for information on how to curl…
