I just did this look for work tonight and I duped the MAC colours using my 88 palette and 88 shimmer palette… I was kind of worried it wouldn’t turn out right, but I actually loved it! Super fun and different!

What a brilliant series of looks! I am really enjoying the tutorials. I just wanted to ask about getting eyeliner to STAY! I get so frustrated when I look at myself in the middle of the day, and my eyeliner has smudged itself below my lower lash line… it just looks sloppy… I’ve tried packing it with a similar-coloured eyeshadow, but to no avail. Any thoughts? Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Maura! This is really tricky- especially during the warmer months. Is your eyeliner in the waterline? This is harder to get it to stay put as this area naturally gets wet from the eyes, but for under the eyes I found the Stila waterproof eyeliners to stay put better than my Urban Decay ones. For the waterline, I can’t really say a perfect method… Liquid liners definitely work, but they come across harsh sometimes

Have you tried applying just a little bit of primer & a very light layer of your regular powder below your eyeliner? I have the same problem and frustration with my liners. When I apply my primer I use whatever is left on my finger under my eye where I will apply my liner (but not in the waterline). Next I apply my eyeliner and top it with a similar colored eyeshadow (as you do). Finally I put a light layer of regular face powder or matte eye shadow (one that matches my skin color) just below my eyeliner. I make sure it’s a light amount so it doesn’t look cakey. I have oily skin, and by the end of the day my liner still looks good. Good luck!

love love love this look been trying to create a bright but not to showy look for the summer would love to see more. one question i know you have cheaper alternative product but have you ever thought a few times alot cheaper lol my friend like to say i have mastered beauty on a budget i have found great shadows primers blushe foundation ant much more from drugstore to dollar stores because i cant shop online and i cant afford mac and all the other really great makeup thers just one thing i have a problem with a concealer ive tried soo many and my dark circle jus keep shinin through do you no of any i would love to pay $5 or less but on a good week i can do $10. keep the beautiful looks comming god bless

I actually don’t have as many eyeshadows as you used (not even inexpensive alternatives), but I have so much to learn simply from the techniques that you use and from your talent of picking so many colours that end up creating a perfectly unitary look. I love this look! I’m 14 and a huge fan of your website. Is there any inexpensive foundation you could suggest? (not exactly for everyday wear but something to wear often enough) I have pale skin and freckles, I don’t want something to heavy but something that still offers kinda good coverage

My favorite inexpensive foundations are the Revlon Colorstay (this is full coverage so is a little thicker) and Neutrogena Healthy Skin
I went with Marlena’s suggestion of Revlon Colorstay and I am very satisfied. I have rosasea on my cheeks and Tzone and oily skin. I am also very sensitive and this one actually didn’t break me out! It is very waterproof though, so be sure and have a really good cleanser to remove it.
(and anyone still using SOAP on their face (which I was doing until 39 yrs old) do yourself a favor and get a real cleanser. You will finally stop drying out your skin and breaking out. It may take off the makeup, but you aren’t doing yourself any favors.)

NYX I have found in Ulta and in small quantities in CVS Pharmacies (they are hidden on an endcap in all the stores) Hope that helps!

p.s. I’m having a hard time finding a primer that works good on oily eyelids, any recommendation? I’ve tried Laura Geller, Spackle (which so far is working better than most), NYX eyelid primer, PrimeTime, Dermalogica…. so far, I’m still creasing by the end of the day, or with spackle, I’m fading even if not creasing. HELP?!

I do have one problem though. I am VERY allergic to NYC makeup products. I did search out Mac to see if I could still get the products in store but they only had 2 colors that you had listed. On line wasn’t much better, so I was wondering if you could recomend any other alternatives for me please.

First I want to say how much I love love love your work, your videos are amazing. I think your persona on your videos is very real and for all those that don’t believe so, I feel sorry for them. When someone is doing what they love for a living that comes through when their eyes light up every time they get to talk about what they do. A positive attitude is something to be cheered for not questioned.
The drink inspired looks are my all time favorites. They are so pretty and when people are often afraid of using color in their wardrobe, they can put a little color in their makeup selections.
I would love to see you do a video where first you do half of your face with expensive products and then the other half with the inexpensive products as alternatives. I think this would really show us how you really don’t have to spend a fortune on products while also demonstrating the true difference between drugstore and designer line cosmetics.
