If you don’t have the 28 palette, are there any other shadows you can recommend for those colors? (Aside from the highlight color, I have one.)
you can use the Maybelline Amethyst Smoke Quad. i first thought she was using these colors from the quad until i watched the video
The purple shade she uses in the crease kind of looks like MAC Shale (which is super gorgeous, IMO) to me. The other, darker one she uses in the outer corner looks like UD Hustle (from the Naked Palette).
I could be completely wrong about both of those, though.
i don’t have the palette what colors should i use
Love love love this look!!! You look stunning! I would love a tutorial on your hair style in this video! Just a quick concern: I have trouble with putting mascara on my bottom lashes because I always end up with a black “u” shape under my eyes from it rubbing off, making my dark circles appear even more. I have even tried waterproof to prevent it from coming off, but to no avail. Any suggestions, Marlena?? Thanks in advance!!
i agree w/ Jessica. Would greatly appreciate a hair tutorial based on Marlena’s lovely hair in this vid
I used to have the same problem but just now I’m using maybelline collosal lashes and I have to say I haven’t had any problems at all. Worth a go maybe?
My suggestion is to put clear mascara on your lower lashes first–that way you don’t have to put as much black mascara on because the clear will amplify them first and then the black goes on easier. I always hate doing my lower lashes too and use this trick every single day.
You’re absolutely right! This would look good on any skin tone. Purple and coral are such flattering colours for everyone. I have officially bookmarked this tutorial. Thanks.
I love the lipstick and blush in this tutorial! Even though this is a “nighttime” look, you could easily change up the eyes to make it daytime and work appropriate too! Thanks, Marlena!
love it love to be the 3rd commenting on your magical creations lol
Marlena,
You are a blessed woman ! The gift God gave you to show your beauty inside and outside and the way you can show how every woman can be more beautiful is simply amazing. I love to see your tutorials. I have tried some of them and I know I need to practice much more. I love shimmery colors but they are not for all occasions. Living and learning ! thank you so much for being here and making all of us very happy.
Kisses from a Brazilian girl,
Nedabr
hello marlena! On one of your previous posts, I asked what would be a good eyeliner for the waterline. You had answered me with many answers, and I decided on the UD 24/7 liner. My store didn’t have perversion, so I got the color zero. It doesn’t last too long at all, and it gunks up and gets all gross in thinner corner. How can I make my liner stay longer? How can I stop it from gunking up in the center.? Also, does the Mac fluidline work well in the waterline?
Thanks,
Jessiana
I know most shadows do gunk in the corners. One tip for long wear is to use an angled brush, dip it in black shadow, and pat it over the eyeliner pretty generously. I find that this definitely helps liners stay on much longer.
You just told her to put eyeshadow in her waterline??
Use a gel liner in the waterline. It doesn’t run because it’s waterbased. Apply just like she did in this video.
Marlena’s tip of dipping your eyeliner in Fluidline or Bobby Brown gel liner seems to work the best to me. I don’t have the gunk problem as much, but I think it also has to do with particular eyes, too. I wear contacts and have allergies, so my eyes tend to gunk up more than other people I know. Also, if you run a piece of tissue or Q-tip very gently over your waterline before lining your eyes, it helps with the gunk. Just my 2 cents, but I hope it helps. No one likes black eye boogers
I really love the Tarte EmphasEyes waterline pencil in black. I’ve used it for the past couple years — it goes on easy, is nice and black, doesn’t clump up in the corners of your eyes, and doesn’t transfer too much throughout the day. Plus it’s teensy in diameter and (I think) made of natural ingredients. I buy it especially for the waterline; one drawback is that it’s so small that it’s not easy to use above my lashes. Hth!
hi marlena i love all the looks u do!! especially the purple eye shadows
Another winner! I love the purple, I actually did a purple smokey eye recently based on the older “Purple Poseys” tutorial and it came out great! Now I have more incentive to pick up the Neutral Palette haha
You look gorgeous as alwayzzzzzz Marlena !!!!!! Hugs !!!!
Hey marlena, I was just wondering what product you have on your lips at the beginning of this tutorial, is beautiful very natural with just a bit of glitter/shimmer.
Love your videos btw, I discovered them recently and the makeup on you website is much cheaper than here in australia, so I’m starting to really get into it now.
xx
I would so love to do this with sketch from mac but what other colors can I use?
very nice tutorial, as always, i have heard that this 28 neutral pallette is similiar or the dupes like mac eyeshadows. Is this true or not?????? when its true can u make a turorial of it and show us, what can be a dupe for mac eyeshadows ????? thank u marlena
Wooo Hooo! I have been waiting for something like this – PURPLE! Sad that this is all it took. This is going to have to be my favorite use of color. I will be purchasing the cheek and lip colors to complete. Wonderful job Marlena!
Is there a difference between the BH Cosmetics pallet & the Coastal Scents pallet? I assumed that they were the same so I went with BH Cosmetics because I got a good deal on it {Amazon} but most 28 neutral pallet tutorials on Youtube mention Coastal Scents. Which one are you using in this video?
I LOVE my BHCosmetics 88 packs. I have 3 in different sets (matte, shimmer, tropical) and they are very rich in pigment. I can always find a color to match what Marlena uses in her tutorials with these sets.
Absolutely beautiful. I have been waiting for you to do this kind of look for a really long time. It was well worth the wait. For those of us that dont have the 28 palette what are NYX dupes or even MAC dupes? Thanks so much.
What a pretty look! While the eyes of course really are the stars of the show, I thought the lip color was outstanding. I’d love to achieve the same effect! I’ve got an olive complexion and stay away from corals as a rule, but I’ll try this combo because the result on you is perfect.
Hi,Marlena.I like Bobbi Brown Corrector but I don’t know how to choose the right color.I’m MAC NW 20/25.Can you help me help, please?THANK YOU FOR YOUR TUTORIALS.
Omg i love this look purple is my fav color. i was wondering if you could do a nice warm smokey eye using the same pallet.
Great job.
love Toni.
xoxo
Jezz Marlena you’re more beautiful each day… I haven’t commented that much lately but I check out all your tutorials everytime cause I’m totally addicted to this website.
Great job!!
Love, Sara *
Another winner look!!! You are the best guru out there because you put so much care and excellence in your looks.
When I use the different Coastal Scents palettes (these palettes are put out by many brands), the eyeshadows seem to be extremely chalky and have a lot of fall-out. How do you keep from havinig the issues with fallout?
hi Marlene !!!!! u looking totally amazing. just love u a lot . Marlene i don’t have this palette which brand is it As i live in Saudi Arabia i don’t know where to buy it from.
love u * soo much

I had to laugh, youtube immediately linked to your old NYX smokey purple look from way back when you were doing tutorials in front of the window. Oh man, how far technology has come, huh? You still looked gorgeous of course, just a lot more low tech. LoL
This look looks amazing if you use blue or peach colors instead

Love it!!!!
Hello,
I know you are very busy but when you have time would you please do more tutoriasl using the 28 Neutral Palette.
Thank you,
Rosie
what a marvellous look!
i have two great suggestions to make our beautiful life more beautiful here:
- let’s find some synonyms for that “gorgeous” word!
(i’m sorry, english is not my native and it really freaks me out to hear that “gorgeous” all the time, besides there are millions of other adjectives),
- your perfect hair sometimes covers the eye and it’s hard to make the steps clear.
again – this is my own pov.
thank you very much for everything! a real inspiration!
Ok got the 28 pallette today from you. It’s gorgeous! More tutorials with this one please? The purple smokey eye tomorrow is mine ! Xoxo
What do u think of the elf makeup? Have u tried it? Thank u I have learned so much!
hey Marlena
luv the look !!
what do u think of DiorSkin Air Flash Foundation???
is it gd for the combination skin type !!?
Hi Marlena,
In your future tutorials, can u also find products to use that sell in the UK, as most of your products i cant find in UK stores so i cant pull off the same look. Thankyou, i hope u are doing well & keep up the good work, another gorgeous tutorial!!! x
You look lovely Marlena.
Do you have any suggestions for a 1inch curling iron?
Thanks!
Marlena: Love you more daily: charm, gift, and color artistry. I have learned so much from you! Back in the comments, someone was bemoaning mascara bleed into concealer. I have had congenital circles than longer than all you MUGs ages added up. One thing I learned from Dick Page in a rag: Blinc Kiss Me… or basically any other tubing mascara, topped with Diorshow formula of choice.(waterproof works) That works pretty well for black, and you can use the Blinc primer, and knock your shades off with length and volume. Blinc also makes colors, though you usually only see black and brown. I use only Blinc on the bottom: be it purple, green (olivey), navy… and coordinate/ contrast with an upper lash color. As for the concealer: let the undereye cream set forever!!!!! My recs are Caudalie Pulpe Vitaminee and Korres for circles. Hylexin: don’t bother, works for a bit, then reverts to what you had before. Let set forever. Apply concealer..I want to try your salmon…If it is too solid, many things thin it well, like Smashbox photo op eye brightener. Also let it set for a bit, then brush tap MUFE HD on it. Benefit Erase Paste w/smashbox thinner set with powderflage works well should one be able to utilize a pinky concealer. I think the trick is to make sure that either the concealer or the mascara is virtually “dry” before you apply the other one. It takes forever, and means that you sort of can’t apply all product at once, but Patience is a Virtue. Ladies, I had concealer before Kennedy was assassinated, and really think that setting time is your best friend on this issue. Also, become mindful of hands to eyes. Good allergy eyedrops: Similisan Allergy Formula (Swiss, quasi-homeopathic, but now appearing more often in regular drug stores.) On me, natural tears hurt and make my eyes water. Similisan feels like a slight change in temperature, has never stung, and never given that rebound effect of the ‘commercial’ allergy eye drop brands.
All my love, world around, for MUGs young and old. Color forever and best face forward!
