  • Definitely not my favorite palette :-(

Review by Sandra on April 8, 2012

I bought this from Coastal Scents, not MUG. So I can't very well blame MUG for my disappointment in this palette. Especially since they don't make it. But yes, I was pretty bummed after reading all the rave reviews on CS's website and then getting products which are, in my opinion, not even good enough to stand next to even WetnWild, or any other drug store brand.

The shadows are chalky, poorly pigmented, and don't blend very well at all. As other people have mentioned, several of the shades are far too similar to each other. Every time I think I'll give this palette another shot I wind up regretting it and having to remove all my eye makeup to start again. Really disappointing.

If you want some decent neutrals, stick with either MUG shadows or get the NYX Nudes palette. The lip glosses in it are terrible, unfortunately, but the shadows in that palette are FAR better than this one. Incidentally, I also have the NYX Champagne & Caviar palette, as well as 3 other NYX 10 color shadow palettes and hate them all. Complete chalky, powdery rubbish. Don't bother wasting $10 each on them. They're nothing like NYX single shadows or the products in the NYX Nudes palette.
  • Below average...

Review by Anaconda on February 3, 2012

The colors look gorgeous when you see them, I was really excited to get this palette. BUT...the color payoff just sucks. Some of the eye shadows are well pigmented and I use them but most of them are just chalky with no color payoff. I would skip that palette unless you're really into the ''natural look'' where no color actually shows up on your lid lol.
  • A must have .. for all kind of plays with neutral colors...

Review by Anne on January 6, 2012

I got this palette a week ago. Since I got it, I tried almost all colors... These are all quite "neutral" as the palette is described, and are perfect for blending, creating natural shades and daylight smoky eyes and shading.
They colors are "enough" pigmented for the use I have of it, considering I am not a professional makeup artist... and if we follow Marlena's tutorials, we can really play with this palette and always find "the shade" which will allow you to play around to blend a darker color or else...
I believe this is THE basic palette to have as part of your makeup colors.
I am very happy, especially with the very "neutral" and "naked" colors.
Thank you MUG for making those kind of palettes available to everyone at an affordable price.
  • wasted money

Review by Bijoux on January 6, 2012

Not impressed with this at all. I was looking for a cheaper alternative to the ud naked palette but ended up buying it anyway. Loved the colors but the shadows are too chalky on this one and not what i expected.
  • not all bad

Review by stacie on December 8, 2011

at first when trying this palette, i was SLIGHTLY disappointed. but i have so many different ways to alter my makeup. i have a naturally warm complextion so the cooler neutrals would appear chalky. i own a few of the NYX jumbo pencils and i use them as a base to make my colors stand out to achieve the look i want. a friend of mine also gave me a maybelline cream eyeshadow palette (i think its maybelline lol) and i use those as a base too. im not going to waste, ive learned to make due with what i get and this palette suits me well for my rushed days when i've over slept and need to get ready for work. absolutely fine by me.
  • Disappointiing...

Review by Charlotte on October 31, 2011

When I opened the palette I thought the colours looked fantastic and that there was as good mix of neutrals, that looked both wearable and true to the 'neutral' look...however, the quality is hugely disappointing as is the ability to extract any proper colour from these shades. You could get much better value from almost any other palette I would think...such a shame!
  • Beautiful colors, very low quality

Review by Brittany on October 4, 2011

When I first saw this, I thought "OH PERFECT" So many colors and so many different ways to wear a neutral make up look. But all of the colors are SOOO chalky and very hard to even get on the lid. So disappointed in this. Most of my colors have popped out of the makeup case and now have missing eye shadows that can't be used b/c they cracked and crumbled every where.... ugh.... not worth the money!!!
  • great colors, low quality

Review by lipsticksue on January 4, 2011

I lit up like a Christmas tree when I opened this palett. The shades were so wearable, a very nice balance of cool and warm neutrals, and from what I could tell matte and shimmer shades. Unfortunatley, the shadows have so little pigment that, you can't even notice the colors. It was cheap, so I really can't complain. In this case you get what you paid for. But, instead I would spend the $10 on the Champagne and Caviar palette from NYX. It is a fantastic neutral palette..very wearable, and much higher quality.
  • Yuck

Review by Missey on December 27, 2010

I bought this palette for its great range of neutrals. At first glance, the palette is lovely, however, all of the shadows are chalky, pigmentation is nonexistent, and they fade away rather rapidly. Invest in decent makeup, this is just a waste of money.
  • I loved it!

  • Beautiful collection.

Review by Renilicious on September 19, 2010

This palette is GORGEOUS. The colours are very subtle on the skin which is perfect for someone like me who is not used to wearing much makeup or can't wear too much colour due to hooding.

There's a good range of matt and shimmery colours in different tones of brown, peach, pink, mauve and yellow - there's something to suite all skin tones in this one.

My only nitpick with the palette is that there's about five colours that are all extremely similar and look exactly the same on the skin.

Other than that, this is a great collection for anyone who favours neutral colours.
  • Really pigmented and easy to apply, basically a great palette~!

Review by Chantal on July 30, 2010

This palette is soo versitile... I can create everday neutral looks or smoky mysterious smokey eyes (hello Kardashians!!!)... It's a great deal! The colours last a long time, are pigmented and not chalky... The colours also blend and go on very well :) I <3 IT!!!
  • Love it!!

Review by Scandoll on June 24, 2010

I really love this palette, i decided to get it when i started noticing that my color e/s was grawing but i had no neutral colors for more toned down natural looks and when i came across this palette i just had to have it.
PROS: It has a variety of netrals from light to dark ,my fave dark color would be the dark bugundy from to right corner, and from, the light ones its 2nd down and 2nd in from the left corner, its a very pretty shimerry highlighter color. Most colors have great pay off, mostly the dark ones, but i guess since the lighter ones are just that "lighter ones" then i shouldnt complain.

Cons: I just wish that there wasnt such a close similarity in color to other e/s on the same palette. Some just look a shade lighter or darker than the color next to it.
