Review: Pixi Ultimate Beauty Kit
Hello you gorgeous muggies! (aka Make Up Geeks
) Here is another review of a holiday palette that came out for 2012- the Pixi Ultimate Beauty Kit!
What is It?
A sleek makeup palette that includes 32 eyeshadows, 8 blushes, and 16 lipglosses.
My opinion on this product:
Now anyone who knows me knows that I pretty much live at Target. I should have my own parking spot there- it’s bad enough that half the workers know me on a first name basis… Anyways, I’ve always walked past the Pixi makeup products while perusing the best aisle ever- the makeup aisle, but I rarely get impressed by what I see. However when I saw this massive yet sleek palette sitting on the shelf, I had to stop and try it out.
I love how sleek this palette is- with all the fussy packaging from other brands, it was refreshing to see a cute yet simply designed palette that had almost everything you need for a makeup look. It includes a nice variety of 32 eyeshadows- some matte and some shimmery. It has some bright colors and some excellent blending colors so its easy to create a complete look with just one palette. The eyeshadows are fairly pigmented, smooth, and easy to blend. They could have just a little bit more pigmentation, but they’re definitely not bad.
Now let’s get to the blushes: amazing! They’re so smooth, nicely pigmented, and come in a variety of colors from peach to pink and mauve. There’s 2 matte finish ones and 6 shimmery.
There’s also 16 lipglosses in a wide variety of colors- they look cheap at first glance, but they’re actually pretty good! They could be slightly more pigmented, but way better than other lipgloss palettes I’ve come across. Plus they don’t smell funky and aren’t overly sticky either.
I really don’t have many complaints on this palette other than it could use a few more eyeshadow colors (there’s no green and only one purple). The price is a little steep if you’re looking for an inexpensive palette, but it’s still cheaper than the major brand palettes that average around $52…
Pros:
- Sleek packaging, so is great for travel
- Nice variety of blush colors
- Excellent quality in blushes
- Great variety in eyeshadow finishes- matte vs shimmery
- Fair price for the amount of makeup included
- Needs more variety in eyeshadow colors
- A few eyeshadows could be more pigmented
Rating:
- Packaging: 5
- Quality: 3
- Overall: 4
- Would I buy again? Yes
- Price: $40

I think I may run out and pick this up tomorrow since Target is closed right now, otherwise, I’d be over there now
i have several other of the pixi kits…i love them…very nice eye shadows that last.
a must have.
I have on of their pallets. But I wear them wet because the colors pop more and they just don’t work as well dry.
Hi, Marlena. I really enjoy your tutorials. Would you do one that shows some looks you can do with this palette?
I would really like to see some tutorials using this palette as well!
I’m hoping on the tutorial bandwagon and asking the same. I’d love to see some looks with this pallet. I just got it today and don’t know where to begin, so many options lolol. Thank you for the amazing review!
I too would have just bought this palette in the UK for £20 from the Pixi store. They say the £20 offer is only valid until end December so get it quick. I would love to see some make up look as I also find that some of the eyeshadows are not really pigmented enough for my skin colour.
I’ve just looked for this in the UK…and its only £20….and from what youve said I think I’ll be definitely picking some up! they’ll make good christmas presents!
marlena, youre a star!
x
If you get it before 29th November at Boots you’ll get £2 back on your Boots card!
wow pixi is expensive in america! that palette is £15 here in the uk!!
I’ve purchased Pixi kits before, and they’ve been primarily shimmer shadows, and too fair blushes, but this looks promising!
On sale at target.com for $34 right now!
I’ve always looked at the Pixie products but have yet to try them. I will definitely be picking this palette up. And thanks Marissa for the online tip! I think that’s how I’ll get it since I have a few other things that are online only to order. Marlena, would love a look tutorial with this palette in the future!
Also, off subject, but do you know if there is a way to figure out lip colors that come in palettes? I bought the Tarte jewelery box set last Christmas and love some of the lip colors in it but can’t find a list of color names. Any ideas?
I’ve been a big fan of Pixi products for a while. Some of their products can be hit or miss, but the Flawless and Poreless is my favorite face primer (great for oily skin), and the new All Over Magic face color is really great as a mosaic bronzer/blush. I actually really like a lot of their complexion enhancing products. I use their foundation stick for days when I’m in a hurry, since it covers well and has a smooth cream to powder finish. The colors are very flattering for really pale girls like me, but those with medium to dark skin tones may find that their products aren’t pigmented enough.
If you want to avoid buying makeup that people have opened in the store, I would recommend buying straight from Pixi’s website. They have a lot of great discounts for regular customers, and you’re guaranteed to get a fresh, unopened product that hasn’t had any fingers stuck in it.
ASOS.Com have that palette and for a few more hours have 20% off if you enter the code HOT20
Hey Makeup Geek, this is such a lovely looking palette…I’m soooo tempted. I think it’s very great value for the quality you mentioned. I’ve heard a bit about Pixi by British beauty bloggers/youtubers….Gosh I just put myself on a no-buy but this is just too good to pass up!
I went out and bought this, it’s really good! Definitely worth it! Can we see some tutorials using this palette??
I just got this for Christmas and would love to see a tutorial with this product
I just bought the palette and I have to say so far I love the lip glosses they are very smooth and feel good on your lips and the color is what you get and that I love.
The eye colors are really smooth and go on very nicely. I will admit that once I watch a few more tutorials I will know the best way to apply these colors. . I have the e.l.f. eye primer and I think maybe with a better primer it will look so much better.
