Review: Clinique “Take The Day Off” Makeup Remover

They Describe it As:
A makeup remover that quickly lifts away long-wearing eye and lip makeup without tugging.
My opinion on this product:
This is by far the best makeup remover I have ever tried! It’s been my go to brand for years, as nothing else removes my makeup as easily as this one. It does have some oil in it, but it doesn’t feel greasy like most others. It removes makeup really well without tugging on the eyes, and there’s no funky smells with this one either
I know this is a bit more pricey than other makeup removers, but trust me- it’s TOTALLY worth it.

Where to Buy:

I love this product. A little goes a long way and yup agree it’s expensive but it works well so it’s worth the price. A little oily and I am prone to little break outs around the eyes but this doesn’t do that for me.
Marlena can you tell us the makeup you’re wearing in this video. it’s gorgeous. Spring here in Australia and that look would be great.
I love this product as well, good job for giving it some publicity and introducing to more women!
I usually use Neutrogena’s eye makeup remover but sometimes I wake up with a little mascara residue so I think it would be a good idea to try this one
but does the Clinique works for the waterproof mascara as well?
It works great for any waterproof product. I have the Stila Smudgeproof eyeliners and they are the hardest to remove and using this product is super easy.
I used the Clinique for years but switched to the Neutrogena because it was half the price. Now I’m wondering if the Clinique might go further/ last longer…How about a comparison Marlena?
Would this easily remove waterproof mascara too, Marlena?
It most definitely will. I wear waterproof mascara and it gets it all off.
I had been wanting to try this product as well, but was leery of the price tag until I found the travel size in the “impulse buy” section at Sephora… $10.50 CAD and it will last a while, as I don’t need to use it every day (except a tiny bit for mascara leftovers)… Works great!
Thank you so much for this review. I’ve tried drug store brands and I’ve disliked all of them. This was very helpful. It’s expensive but if it works without leaving all the oily residue, then I’m sold. I’ll go out and buy one this weekend. Keep up the great reviews! <3
Mary Kay Oil-Free Makeup Remover seems really similiar. I’ve been using that one for years!
My absolute favorite eye makeup remover is Mary Kay’s Oil-Free remover. It doesn’t tug at my eyes and lids (which I love) because I sometimes wear waterproof mascara and more dramatic looks. I agree Clinique does have a good remover, especially compared to drugstore brands which usually leave the eye area oily.
Great review, if I remember right I think this remover can be used for lips also. Thanks for the advice Marlena!
I LOVE Mary Kay’s makeup remover too! It’s amazing. It’s the only low end makeup remover that I found takes off my waterproof mascara without any problems. I just leave the cotton ball on my eye(s) for about 5 seconds and everything comes off so easily!
I love this makeup remover as well as Clinique’s Naturally Gentle Eye Makeup Remover. Both work wonderfully at getting my eye makeup off, even if it’s waterproof. The Naturally Gentle one doesn’t sting your eyes if you accidentally get a little in them, either. I’ve used these removers for years and never had a problem.
I work for Clinique….and this is by far my favorite eye makeup remover…even before I worked there!!
Hi everyone. I just wanted to let you know that Take the Day off is actually oil-free. There is a type of silica in it and that’s why you get the slippery texture when using it. I have been using it for years and have recently started working for Clinique. Happy Makeup!
hey makeup geeks! check out my makeup/beauty website! http://www.thelipstickbandit.com
thanks guys!
Clinique’s makeup remover is by far the best. It doesn’t take a lot, so even though its a lil on the expensive side, you don’t have to buy it as often as lesser quality removers. I have very sensitive skin and I’ve never had any issues with it. And I have yet to find any kind of makeup it cannot remove. It removes it so easily too… no rubbing or tugging required to get completely clean.
i love the clinique makeup remover as well but for anyone looking for an inexpensive alternative, i’ve found that the neutrogena make up remover works just as well. You can find it any any drugstore, target, etc. Hope this helps.
The look your wearing is very similar (maybe identical?) to what you wore in the Mac depotting video – can you please do a tutorial on this look? Its gorgeous!!
Thanks!
I will never use another makeup remover ever again. I tell every one that its the magic makeup remover. It takes off everything! Most removers I’ve used leave some makeup in my eyelashes or something but this really works! Also, the price is great, not too too expensive. I just mix it with a little water on a wash cloth and it works perfectly. And the best part is that it’s oil free!

Is this only for eyes and lips? or does everyone use this on their face as well? I’m trying to find something that will cut through the Bare Minerals makeup and not break me out.
I would use it on your face, but Clinique has a Cleansing Milk for the face that you massage on with your hands and just tissue off. That is really nice as well. You don’t have to use much to remove your makeup
I could not agree more! I’ve used it for years now and will never change it. It’s an amazing product and if you go to the outlet store you can find it for $14 or like I do stock up when I go on cruises because they sell it for $13.
You should give a try to the -Bioderma miscellar solution- The sensitive one (pink & clear bottle) is by far the best makeup remover i’ve ever tried! Non oily at all, no perfume ( it’s smells nothing) You can use it on eyes or even all over the face. it’s amazing!!
18$ for a make up remover? That’s ridiculous!!
I have one for 4€ (5,50$) and it even takes off my waterproof (and bombproof) mascara!
The one I use is the express eye make up remover from Yves Rocher. It’s one of those 2 phase removers. Here’s a link: http://www.yves-rocher.de/control/product/~category_id=2112/~product_id=21058
I think they have a US site and sites for other countries, too. Just google “Yves Rocher”.
This eye make up remover really takes off anything and everything! I’ve tried a few other ones, too and no other can take of my waterproof mascara (like I said: it’s really bomb proof, haha)!
Just try that if you’re looking for a cheaper alternative!
I’m gonna have to try it I use the LANCÔME eye makeup remover and its $27 so this will save me some $ I hope I like it
I’ve been using the Nutreogena brand for years but find that I still have mascara residue under my eyes the next morning. I wear waterproof mascara and thought maybe it was just due to that… I will have to try this to compare.
Marlena– can you please do a tutorial on your makeup in this video? It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! ps: are you coming to Los Angeles any time soon for classes? Thx!
Definitely find this useful. I’m currently using Mary Kays (which is a lot of peoples HG) and I like it, but I feel like there’s some tugging and I have to use a lot to get my 3 coats of mascara off
I’ve used many others, haven’t found my HG yet. I will definitely pick this up on my next Sephora trip, thanks for the tip!
I HAVE TO KNOW.. what eyeshadow are you wearing in this vid? I looooove it!
Thanks so much for the info. I love your eyes in this video…do you have a tutorial on how to create the look?
How is it at removing eyelash glue? As a burlesque dancer I have to wear eyelashes several times a week. Eyelash glue is so persistent. Any tips for gentle removal?
Thank you for the video. WHat eye shadows are you wearing, Marlena? xx
You remind me of the chef “Nigella Lawson” in this look. Her makeup on her food show is usually like the one you have on you in this video.
FYI: There’s a smaller size (50ml) at sephora. I guess that will help us budget our money. Its a good product so go for a travel size instead of buying the big one.
and its only $8.50 btw
I agree, it is the best eye makeup remover ever! I wish it would come in a bigger bottle.
Love your site and videos!
TTDO make up remover DOES NOT have oil in it. Silica is what’s in it that appers like oil!
