NARS Sheer Glow Liquid Foundation
This foundation is so beautiful! As we age, our skin tends to look more dry and dull- this NARS foundation helps give that glow back without looking shiny or oily. It covers really well, but doesn’t feel heavy on the skin!
It comes in 12 different shades- the one I am currently wearing is “Barcelona”. Also, if you have oily skin, I would say to try the Sheer Matte instead as you will not need the extra “glow” :)

DiorSkin Sculpt Line-Smoothing Lifting Makeup
This foundation also gives a beautiful finish to the skin! It gives more of a satin/matte finish vs the luminous finish that the NARS one gives, but it covers really well and applies evenly. I like how lightweight it is and how smooth it looks on my skin.
This should work on all skin types- oily to dry, and it’s best applied with a damp sponge (like the Beauty Blender Sponge)

If I had to choose between these two, I would get the NARS Sheer Glow as it is a little cheaper and has a more luminous finish. But if you have oily skin, I would try the NARS Sheer Matte (I tried it and wasn’t a huge fan, but my skin is more dry). I hope that helps you all in your quest for the perfect foundation!!

I dont’ tend to use foundation as I find it too heavy, and it really makes my skin look “made up”, and suggestions for very sheer coverage, like a tinted moisturiser? I have oily skin, however it’s pretty clear, so I don’t need to cover it up that much. I’ve tried Laura Mercier, but it feels heavy on my skin.. Also I ALWAYS get shiny no matter what I’ve tried. One more thing (sorry this is a loaded post) I’m turning 30 this year, but no one ever believes me, I still look 22 apparently, but I’d still like something preventative to use. For the past few years, I’ve been using Dr. Denese Defense Day Cream, it’s a tinted moisturizer with SPF 30.
It’s goes on really smooth and has a light feel. You can buy it on Ebay or HSN. I usually use it instead of foundation. The only drawback is that it can be a little pricey.

I’d like to try one day NARS foundation, but for now I’m in love with Makeup Forever HD Foundation as it’s light and conforms to my skin tone, very natural looking.

The MUFE HD is not slightly cheaper, but offers a wider color selection, a buildable coverage, is more hygenic, wastes less product with the convenient pump and looks like real skin – just better. But then, I never understood the fascination with dewy skin as real, healthy skin doesn’t look dewy…lol)
The NARS Sheer Glow fad has certainly made it’s rounds but is simply no comparison to the MUFE HD in my opinion.

Riiiiight!! That’s funny to imagine! Like when Lucille Ball does the VITA-MEATA-VEGAMINE commercial and gets plastered! That combined with the MAKEUP TO CATCH A MAN idea- I’d buy tickets and Coronas to watch. But Jokes aside, when you mix 2 different types of foundation, do the formulas ever clash? I’ve always wanted to try but I thought that they would separate on the skin and look broken or streaky. Can You mix a cream highlighter with liquid foundation?

I have always been a fan of Dior foundations. They are more pricey but I think they are worth it. The finish is amazing. I have been using the Dior forever, as my skin is on oily side. I would appreciate your review on Dior forever foundation. Thanks.
I’ll have to try these out, even though I doubt very much that this will work on my skin… no matter what foundation I use, my skin breaks in oil after 1 hour, I’ve even bought ‘model in a bottle’ spray, and it does absorb all the oil, but it also eats away all my foundation, so it ends up looking awful!
I am so sad! Any other suggestions on what foundation I should use / skin product? Thanks xo

Hi Marlena! great review! well please give a review on MUFE HD foundation. I use estee lauder double wear , its really nice but looks a bit heavy on my skin because i have a fluffy face
and i have a question that when i apply foundation , i apply it on my neck too but still my neck looks darker than my face so should i use a darker foundation on my face? moreover when i apply my foundation and i take my photos so my face looks overly white but when i see in mirror it looks less whiter than the photo. i want my face to look naturally flawless. can u please tell some tips to find the right foundation for skin, for example, does the foundation has to be one shade lighter or darken than the skin tone or how light the concealer should be? i would appreciate if u do a tutorial about how to apply different types of foundations with various techniques icluding mineral foundations, cream-to-powder foundations, panstick foundations (inglot cosmetics have these), liquid foundations, mousse foundations etc please do this tutorial in detail…i know m asking for too much. i will wait patiently…i know u have a busy routine but please accept my request. and aah one more question when i apply concealer under my eye, my eyes (below the water line) looks fluffy, how can i avoid this problem? sorry marlena m asking a lot to you…but u r my only inspiration. love u

OOPS! i made a mistake, after the application of concealer, my under eye looks PUFFY not FLUFFY….. got confused before.
I’m soooo glad you have foundation on your mind! So they had PUR minerals on sale 2/$25 @ ulta, I went in and had a consultation, and when I got home and tried the color myself, I got instant OOMPALOOMPA orange face. This has happened to me before also at Sephora and Macy’s. It is part of the reason I started buying less and less expensive makeup. What is with their lighting and how do I get a good match in a mall-like setting? Meanwhile you have made me a fan and regular user of Revlon Colorstay and Photofinish foundation. I stick to my true love L’oreal Infallible 18 hr foundation, if you’ve never tried it I think you’d love it, but since I’ve been a new MUG I’ve aquired a HUGE variety of foundation. For mineral foundation I’m a lone fan (it seems) of Neutrogena loose mineral foundation, so as soon as I hit the MEGA MILLIONS I’ll try the NARS and Dior, Or who knows, maybe Ill get it from Santa?

Thank you Marlena for the review. I have the NARS Sheer Glow foundation in Deauville and love it. I like a full coverage foundation and the NARS has not disappointed. I have been mixing it with my Revlon Colorstay and today tried it with the Revlon Photoready. The mixed products have given me great coverage.
Question? The MUA I purchased the NARS from suggested putting a small amount on your hand to warm the product up and applying with your fingers. What are your thoughts on this? Personally I use a stippling brush and like the finished look.

I recently bought nars sheer glow and am currently using it with the makeup forever hd setting powder, i was wondering if you had any other recomendations for setting powder.
I’ve used both of these myself and liked both quite a bit. I almost passed on the Nars Sheer Glow when the girl at the counter suggested it, because I need something with good coverage, and the term “sheer” does not suggest that this will fit the bill. She gave me a sample anyway, and I’m so glad. I’m not sure why they used the word Sheer in the title of this- it’s definitely a medium coverage foundation. This is also a GREAT option for pale gals- Siberia is a great match for my paler-than-MAC skin tone.
I loved the Dior for a bit too, but was disappointed to find that the fairest shade is too dark for me now.

You like Revlon colorstay right? I like it too, but for me it’s very difficult to blend, you need to work too fast. I like Rimmel London Lasting Finish foundation beter. It blends beautifully and has great coverage. The only con is that color selection is limited. My absolute favorite high end foundation is the Armani Luminous Silk foundation. It is so lightweight! You should try that. It feels like a tinted moisturizer or less, but gives you a Full on coverage! The con for this one is the price: 59 bucks! But one bottle lasted me three years!!!! (I only used it for speacial days)
I agree with you Nadia. Armani luminous skin foundation is fantastic. After Dior foundations, if I liked any is the Armani Silk. Its super light and feels amazing on the skin, also the colors are not too pink or yellow.
Hey Marlena! Im a NC 30 in MAC’s studio fix fluid and use Urban Decay’s Urban Defense in Bodygaurd! Could you please tell me what color/number would suit me in NARS Sheer Matte Foundation (I have oily skin)? I want to order online and so can’t really match it myself!
Went to Sephora yesterday and picked up Fiji from NARS. I am normally an NW15 from MAC. I am in love with this foundation and I have only from a trial run on my face! I also picked up a multiple from Nars and a Matte lip stick pencil…loving their stuff!

First: Got “Stila Kajal” in Topaz. It’s amazing, it pops my eyes. I wasn’t expecting it to be so intense but it works so well. I love it. I also got “NYX Round Lipstick” in Ceto but didn’t arrive yet. What do you think about the color, by the way?
Second: I did find a MK Consultant, I have the contract here and I can’t wait to make my first order.

I use Mac’s NC35 which color of Revelon and Nars i am?
I am having issues. With foundation. My issue is that , this could be because I am using inexpensive foundation, I am finding that liquid foundation builds up and looks spotty and it will enhance the pores on my skin. I’ve used Bare Minerals for several years and find that the powder gets to caked and makes it feel drier. What do you recommend?

I would like to start off by saying i love your tutorials i have learned so much from you. i just ordered the nars foundation from there website today and i came across that they have a pump you can buy seperately for $6.00 i find it better when the foundations have a pump its a lot easier to handle.
As a bi-racial woman (Filipino, Black, Puerto Rican & French), it is very difficult to find foundations that actually look natural! I have dark hair, dark eyes and fair-medium skin. For years I’ve used Bare Minerals, and while it’s a great product, I wanted to try something else….so the search began! I have tried all the foundations you have recommended, and all BUT NARS did not work for me. I purchased NARS Sheer Glow in Stromboli and oh my goodness…talk about beautiful coverage without looking “made up”!! It matches me perfectly!! I use the UD setting spray and the UD Naked pallet, and use NARS sheer SPF Lip Treatments in Angelique….it looks like I have next to no make up on….and at almost 40, I need that!!

Although I likely won’t get my hands on either of these foundations (the nearest Sephora store is a 5 hour drive, minimum), I did take your advice and get the Revlon ColorStay. It’s awesome.
