My favorite products from this line that I’ve tried are the eyeshadows and lipsticks. Blushes weren’t too bad either- nice little compact with pretty colors!

Great review, thanks again for sharing!
i am chinese , and i am so happy that i found this website
I love the tutorials and not the reviews….this is helpful…but I am still a MAC girl!
Hi Marlena,
Would you be able to do a stage makeup look using browns. I dance alot and have competitions coming up so i would love my make up looking gorgeous!
I can’t wait to hear from you and hope you’ll be able to do this look ASAP!!!!
Thank you Marlena for all the amazing tutorials and videos you share with the world!
YOU’RE A STAR!!!!
I’m not sure how soon I could get to the tutorial as my studio equipment is somewhere in between Michigan and Cali right now
But… to make brown look striking, you need to pair up with a bright color or a light color so there is contrast. Put the light or bright color on the lid with dark brown in the outer V and feathered in with a stiff dome brush. Line the lashes with black liner to make your lashes look thicker.
With stage makeup, always go brighter and darker than you normally would as the lights wash the colors out- so if it looks too much for daytime, then you’re just right for on stage
Thank you Marlena so very much!
Marlena as always gorgeous looks for us mugies
I wanted to know if you could please re-do a look I found in your idea gallery it was put together by you called: NYX LOOK: Blondie/Apricot Moose/Atlantic June7,2008 I tried taking the colors listed but failed on placing the colors as you did– would LOVE LOVE to see you recreate it as a tut…. APPRECIATED!!!!
hello! how can i join this site pls?
Hi Marlena.
love your reviews and ofcourse your tutorials. But I need to know one thing out of the subject. How old are you? Cause you look great, even better after your weight loss!!!
I think she said she was about 30 one time. I swear she doesn’t look a day over 20! With or without make up!
Hi Marlena!
You look beautiful as always! Love the lipgloss….it’s poppin’ more than usual!
Great review. Those eyeshadows intrigue me now. Will try!
Thanks again for sharing!
Keep the vids comin’!
Hi Marlena!
Great vid again and I love your makeup here! May I ask what you have on?
Hi Marlena,i love all of your tutorials, can you please do a tutorial on how to properly take makeup off?i love wearing makeup but when its time to take it off i cant take it properly out off my eyelashes, can you please help me???thank, you are an inspiration to me.
Hey, Marlena!
I was wondering what your recommendation would be for a primer, for someone who has combination/oily skin? Is the Urban Decay better than the MAC mattifying gel? Thanks
You look great!!!! Thank you for all your videos. I love them and look forward to each one. And yes we all know that you are honest with us… that is why we watch.
Thanks for the review!! I love Urban Decay but it’s really hard to get in Québec where I live!! And you got me interested in those MUD eyeshadows, I’m a fan of MAC eyeshadows but it would be great to have a cheaper alternative… but once again, don’t know if that’s available here…
ok checked out the MUD website and it’s not available in Canada…
Hi Marlena! Thank you so much for this!!!!!!
Have you tried the new Loreal primer? Can you give your opinion on that?
I have tried it- it’s ok, but too tacky (imo) for blending
It holds color really well, but just hard to blend over
Love it! Thanks so much for your reviews, they have definitely helped me make decisions! Also, I was watching Vampire Diaries last night and they were totally using those mirrors in one of the scenes. I had my husband pause it and was telling him how ‘cool’ they are and that I think it would be a great investment
lol. We’ll see…
Great review, i am not a big fan of UD shadows, they are too shimmery for my taste, I am a loyal fan of MAC, I hope you can do more tutorials using MAC products. I love all your tutorials regardless of the products you use, your personality shines every time. Keep them coming.
What is the lipcolor on your lips?! It’s gorgeous! And by the way… YOU LOOK ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! You look great. Keep up the good work!
Lip color isn’t an exact one I’m afraid- I mixed 2 of Kat Von D’s lipsticks- the orange one and nude one with NYX Perfect lipgloss on top. (I’m limited on makeup as most of it is packed up- gotta be creative now
)
hi, love the video. what polish are you wearing? did you do your nails yourself? are they your real nails or gel? just really like them!
~thanx,
kat
I have them done- they’re gel nails, and I’m not sure of the color of nail polish
It’s a orangy pink color
I love your makeup in this video! Can you do a tutorial on it? It reminds me of the look you did using the NYX blue eyes quad (which I wear all the time and it looks great – so thank you for that!).
OMG i want that mirror!!! i’m trying to build my vanity and it’s really hard to put up a mirror THEN lights after. so right now, i only have a mirror and it’s hard to put makeup on. always looks uneven because of my lighting =( but wow… i would REALLY like to have that mirror. it’s so pricey!!
what is on your lips? gorgeous!!
It’s a compilation of different things I’m afraid- Kat Von D’s orange and nude lipsticks mixed together with NYX Perfect lipgloss on top (all my makeup is packed up
)
Hello, I like your videos, you are so nice and beautiful. I also like your makeup in this video, could you tell us what you used on your eyelids? Good luck with everything
You were so cute reviewing the MUD products on the sofa with your feet on the background
I really like the idea of the mirror but I don’t like pink colour…
Marlena- what lip stick/gloss are you wearing in this video? It’s gorgeous!

Hey Marlena,
Thanks for the reviews. That brand looks pretty cool. I’m originally from southern California too, so I like to represent.
Take care!
Marlena, I been waiting for your new tutorial….. Your eyeshadow in this vid very pretty can you do a tutorial for us. Thank you very much
Hi Marlena,
Thank you for the review. I was particularly interested in your thoughts on the Urban Decay products like the tinted moisturizer.
I think the main reason I like your reviews/tutorials over other people’s is because you come off as so positive and non-judgmental. Keep up the great work!
Hey Marlena!! Great review. You are looking so beautiful. Good luck with your move! Im moving this weekend too and then off to Europe for 2 months backpacking!!
(But i will find ways to keep checking the site wherever I am. I am ADDICTED!!)
Love you girl, you rock.
M
Can you post what makeup you were wearing in the video? Love it! (especially the lips! Great summer color!) Good luck with the move!
I wish i could remember what was on my eyes
I think it’s MAC’s Juiced with Espresso in the outer V, and a bit of Cork in the crease
Hi Marlena. I am new to Makeupgeek. Honestly, I think you are the best makeup artist on the internet! Please keep up the good work
hi marlena i previously wrote u but i think u may be busy to write back and i understand.. i wanted to see if u could help me find my nars loose powder color.. in mac liquid im nc42 and the pressed powder im c40 im thinking im desert but im not so sure… id really appreciate it if u helped me out.. thanks!
Yep- I would go with Desert
do you know what color id be in the revlon colorstay foundation?
hi marlena , do you recoomend the sally hansen primer and the truly powder? ty
You know, I haven’t tried those yet so I’m not sure ….
Hey Marlena,
I just wanted to give you my thoughts on the Urban Decay De Slick Spray.
I had very high hopes but IT DID NOT WORK AT ALL. I have oily skin but not dramatically oily. I tried it a few different ways just to give it a fair shot- under makeup only, above makeup only and under and over make up. I also tried the minimum spray and the maximum amount recommended. NOTHING. I live in Florida and the weather is warming up but we aren’t into the hardcore heat yet. If it doesn’t hold up now forget about it in the summer. The only good thing I can say is my blush seemed to hold longer. I’m not one for returns but THIS ONE IS GOING BACK. I hope others have beeter luck than I did : )
where can I fond mud cosmetics. I like verymuch
where can I find the mud cosmetics malena?
Hey Marlena. Recently I had bought the Revlon colorstay foundation with the Monistat Chafing gel for primer but the primer seems to be so greasy and makes my face so dry even tho I had moisturized it before that(and let it sit), so when i put on my foundation, it looks so horrible, its flaky and dry and VERY noticeable. I dont have oily skin, i have normal skin, Idk whats going on. Also my hair is SO flat and boring. I want to try putting volume in it like in your video but Bedhead is so pricey, and im not sure if i want to buy it unless i know if the volume is gonna look good in my hair. Are there any alternatives to the Bedhead so i can try it out before buying the pricey Bedhead? Thanks. Hope to from you soon. You look great!
Does your skin look dry and flaky without foundation? Ok, try putting on the foundation without the primer and see how it does. It’s all about the skin underneath, so if it’s dry you might need to use a thicker moisturizer/night cream
I tried not using the primer, but the Revlon just looks so fake… I know i have the right color for my skin. I just dont think Revlon is for me.
Do u have any suggestions on alternatives to the Bedhead products for voluminzing hair?
Thanks.
Have you ever tried Model in a bottle Setting spray instead of MAC fix+? I really wanna get some setting spray but MAC is a little pricey. Do you think Model in a bottle will work just as well?
One more thing… I wanna get the fix spray but is there something out there that isnt so expensive? and where could i find it? Thanks.
“Lip gloss ho” – Love it! LMBO!
PLEASEE marlena ANSWER MEE! I’ve written so many times, I just have one question: What product do you reccomend me to minimize pores???or anyone can tell me something!! THANKS!
Hi Yarelis, to minimize pores, use a toner after you wash your face and before you moisturize. To hide the pores, I really like Clinique’s Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector
can you show some dramatic look with the combination of gold and red. PLZ PLZ PLZ
great review marlena!
I loved the makeup that u were wearing during the review… can you do a tutorial on it ?

KNEELING before you DEVINE PRESENCE
Thanks very much Marlena!
I am correct the makeup you are wearing is part of the UD Summer of Love pallette? Looks very natural and flattering.
hi marlena i was wondering if you could show us what you use to wash your face with and what face and eye creams you use thanks so much your the best.
Hi Lori! I have a partial recommendation for makeup removal @ a Major bargain price that is highly effective. Baby wipes! think about it, whats more sensitive than baby’s skin? and they are moisturizing so your skin is never stripped. I buy the ones that are made unscented for sensitive skin. they work sooo well. Hope this helps!
I use Mary Kay’s Facial Soap, Clinique’s Night Recovery Cream (I have dry skin), and Clinique’s All About Eyes Eye cream, and I forget what toner- I think Neutrogena… Oh, and St Ives Apricot scrub
i love love love all yur videos!!!..yur sooo super super gorgous!!!..i really look up to yuh a tonz, yuh help me sooo much in my makeup skills,n push me harder to become a makeup artist dream!!!!!…am soo glad that yuh look very happy in yur videos!!!>..very proud of yuh, from the bottom of my heart, yuh know i have a bday coming up in may,you know i would love just to meet you n have a one on one makeup tutorial with you cause your the best one i known and seen soooooo far!!!!
god bless your fan D’Nisha
Can’t wait for the review of setting sprays. What is your favorite?
Hey Marlena! Loved the review…I have always read that the “over 40 crowd” needs to stay away from any type of shimmer eyeshadow…that mattes are our friends!!! The UD shadows you reviewed look to have quite a bit of shimmer. Could you possibly (when you have time ha ha) do a tut or review on products for the mature eye/face? I know your more mature MUGs will great appreciate it!
I’m definitely hoping to
Just trying to find models that are willing to be on camera
great review
hi, marlina dear u look rock in this video frend i have a request dear i love u hair colour plzzzzzzz tell me what is ur hair colour and what is ur stikesss colour
It’s a combination of 3 colors: Plum, Dark Brown, and Auburn Red
MAC is still my favorite – more MAC tutorials would be awesome – esp. for natural looks.
I have fair skin so I can do the bright/very dark colors.
Thanks for sharing your time and talent Marlena !!!
Have a Wonderful Weekend!! Blessings
oops – I meant CAN’T do the bright/very dark colors.
Thanks again!!!!
I just started following u over the last couple months, u are the makeup guru’s GURU. I am a bargainista so unless its a product I will travel for and pay top $ for, I stick to less pricey brands. I too am a VOLUMINOUS devotee &,lol, A lipgloss ho even though I like the more recent trend of lipsticks comeback. I’m newly hooked on all things NYX. But could you get around to doing a review on the MUG shadow pallets that are in your store? O, & if you made any MUG tee shirts or hats I’d TOTALLY wear them. XL please! you are the bomb!!!
Marlena,
I`m weekly looking for your tutorials…. I just think they`re awsome.
Not all of the products that you show are available in Mexico, so sometimes is kind of desapointing not be able to try them all.
Please keep the good spirit…
XOXO
I love all the things you do. but I do have a question? where can I find the MUD eyeshadows.
just go to http://www.mudshop.com
Hi Marlena,
do you know of a inexpensive eyelid primer?
I’m actually getting in some Palladio primers- they’re only $8 and are made by the same company that makes Urban Decays
They should be in stock next week- I’ll do a review when they come in- I’m so excited!!
~~hey marlina!!~~
~i love love love your make-up tutorials!!.. you are just so lovely~ and you have such a lovely way of teaching make-up =) i have learnt so much from you, thank you!! =)
~i have a request.. can you please tell us about make-up expiration dates.. like powders, mascaras, eye pencils, and lipsticks.. coz i was checking that online but most websites were suggesting 3 months to up to 1 year.. is that true?.. i have some make-up products which i purchased like 5 years back.. is that really unsafe to use?.. i thought you would be the best person to ask =)
~always waiting to see your new tutorials =) take care!!
I actually don’t follow those most of the time as it’s a bit unrealistic to keep something only 3 months… I usually recommend 3 years for dry products (powders, eyeshadows, etc..) and 1 year for cream products. 3 months for mascara though as it dries out and is really easy to give eye infections if you aren’t careful
Thanks so much for the makeup reviews! Question: You have beautiful skin. What foundation do you use if any?
Take care and hope to hear from ya..tina
Marlena, I just want you to know that since you’ve come into my life; I’ve never looked better! All my daily or going out looks are from your tutorials or inspired by something you’ve shared with us mugs. I’m in the last 5 months of my wedding planning and just when I thought I had no ideas for my look on that special day, your vintage look has saved me! A million thank yous!!!! Muah, muah (kiss on each cheek ), if you were in Boston I would so snatch you up as my makeup artist….lol.
Hey Marlena!!
Prom is right around the corner and I can’t find any way to do my makeup!
My dress is purple so could you PLEASE do a tutorial on what colors go best?
Or if you just suggest some colors here, that’d be amazing!
Thanks!
MUD eyeshadows are great. I like them even better than MAC, though the color selection is not as great. Spanish Gold is my favorite. Also Poppy blush is a gorgeous matte peachy/pink blush. It is highly pigmented and a little goes a long way. Their brushes are great too. If you sign up for their mailing list, they will email when they have are having specials. Right now is 20% off everything (except the $49 kit) with the code SPRING. This is good until April 30th.
Website is http://www.mudshop.com
Marlena,
First of all, those MUD eyeshadows have made me extra excited for my trip to the U.S. this year – us Canadians seem to be out of luck.
But what I’ve been itching to know is if the book behind your lighted mirror was “Gourmet Rhapsody” by Muriel Barbery. She’s one of my favourite authors!
On a side note: I always love your reviews and tutorials, thanks for keeping them up.
Marlena you are beautiful as always, I always look forward to your awesome tutorials, thanks as always for exposing us to new exciting products, good luck with your move, may God Bless you and get you there safely!
**HUGS**

Hi!! Marlena, someone suggested make up tutorials for more mature ladies.I’m 41 and love make up!!!Please give us some ideas on how to wear make up at our age and look younger?
Thank you so much for all your tutorials you have no idea of how much you helped me.I didn’t wear make before I run into you on you tube, because I didn’t know how to put it on.Now I love make up and to follow you tutorials. You are awesome!!!!
Hi Marlena! I was wondering if you could do a tutorial for mineral powder foundation? And maybe a review/suggestion of the ones you think are the best?
I didn’t know where else to post this, hope it’s okay to post it here!
I find your website really helpful!!
Hey can you do a tutorial on that look you’re wearing in the video? I absolutely love it!!
Hey Marlena what happened to the sonia kashuk bent liner brush and the fluffly crease brush that was in your store? I also liked the super easy make up tutorial for teens becaused i’m a teen. The only problem i have is that when I was looking for the loreal voluminous mascara in carbon black, I only found it in hydrofuse and the original do they work the same? because I bought the hydrofuse one. The maybeline dream mousse blushes, i couldnt find in peach satin, and since i’m light skinned and i cant find the peach satin one should I get it in cloud wine #50? please reply =]
Thank you

Hello Dear Marlena, thank you again for this wonderful review ! really appreciate!

Thank You
Hey Marlena……….great review….and you look great as always…..somehow you inspired me so much to look beautiful and confident…..hey there is this book called ‘The Secret’….i feel you should read it….dont tell me you dont have time….:)
Marlena,
I had a question about foundation. I recently just purchased Revlon’s photo ready foundation. It is okay, but I have a lot of scarring and it seems like it doesn’t cover it up well enough. I also break out very easily and after I used it, I broke out. I don’t know if it is from that or what. Can you help me? I need something that covers well, but not too heavy-and easy to use, and something that does not make me break out? Any suggestions?
Thanks so much!
You are amazing:)
LOVE your site!! i just happened to stumble across it where were u years ago??
I am just trying to get back in the swing of putting on makeup after having 6 kids! My skin has changed & i am having a harder time finding cover up makeup I’ve been to make up stores like ULTA which have prestige makeup and they do help me with tips and product but i LOVE knowing i can come home & take my time with u. Any suggestions on skin care? do you have tips on what i should have at all times in my makeup bag? What are the essential brushes i should have. I do feel like once i watch u i want to rush out and get every brush every item u just used too. I lOVE how u give suggestions on similar or less expensive products because at times that is more helpful. Keep doing what u do!! bye the way 5 of my kids r girls so you’ll come in handy for them. for years to come.
Hi Marlena,
I recently went on the coastal scents website and saw they have a new palette called metal mania which looks gorgeous. I just wanted to get your thoughts on it if you have it. Maybe you could do a quick tutorial from that palette sometime. Thanks.
Ashley
do you use fix+spary after eye make up or before?
Fix + spray is after you are all done with your face. Just watch her face routine video.
Nice meeting you today. I looked you up on facebook. Do you have an account ? Let me know…take care and welcome back home
hi, i’m from malaysia. may i know where can buy that mirror??
Hey Marlena, new to your site and fascinated by your tutorials! I’m a huge MAC fan in Toronto, ON, and your vids taught me a lot (and I thought I knew what I was doing HAHA). Thanks for having this site, I’m sure it’s crazy time consuming for you but I must say so far, it’s been way helpful to me! Look forward to your new stuff, and good luck with the move miss!
Lipgloss ho’s unite! <3
Marlena,
Thanks for all your reviews and tutorials, I was wondering if you like any other tinted moisturizers with spf other than the Urban Decay one.
Hola escribo desde Chile, y quisiera saber si tienes un pincel (brush) para cada color, por que si es asi hay que tener miles de brochas una para cada color?

Hi Marlena,
I am a teen and I am interested in starting to wear a foundation. I want something on the lighter side (coverage) and, I have dry and sensitive skin. I recently got a Bare Minerals foundation sample at Sephora. Do you think it is a good idea idea for me to use mineral foundation, is Bare Minerals the best (or one of the best) mineral foundation to use on my face, and is there something else you would recommend that is less money?
Thank you Marlena and, I just wanted to tell your you are beautiful and wonderful and, Thank you for the videos.

Love all your videos! These review videos are really useful, and I was hoping that you could do a video on your favorite water proof products?? Summer is coming and it would be nice to know what products are the best-lasting in pools and humidity and such. Thanks so much!
I agree!! I have a pool that I’m constantly around in the summer so this would help a lot!!

hello marlena. I recently came upon your videos, and I am sooo glad that i did. Your absolutely beautiful! i am loving all of your reviews/tutorials! You have such great taste….I am currently interested in the MUD eyeshadow pallettes. I went on their website to get them, but I think you left out the colors on the second set of colors, the one with tinsel and graphite—- is it really SUNSET?? It kind of looks more like the spanish gold…. and the lightest color also? PLS PLS PLS double check….thank you!
Love the review! I’m going to socal next month, can’t wait to check out the MUD stuff, I don’t think we get it up in Canada.
Hey Marlena. I saw this ad on the front of makeupgeek.com about MAC brushes. I browsed thru it and looked at the brush sets they had. Now, im confused. Is this really MAC cuz they dont look the same as the ones on MAC website. If they are, that would be awesome cuz id be snatching those deals right up. Can you check out the website and let me know if its real MAC brushes. Here’s the link to the set I’ll prolly get…

Hi Marlena, Thanks for the info on all those products, it helps us a lot! I’ve been wanting to ask you a question: where do you do your make up? what’s the best way to organize your products?do you have like a vanity table or something like that? are there some good ones to look up for? thanks!
Marlena, I live in Des Moines, Iowa and the nearest MAC is 35 minutes away. I really LOVE those MUD makeup eyeshadows you showed, where do you think I could get them? Do you think the mall would sell them, or is it something I have to order off the internet? I am so glad you showed those, those pigments are just amazing!!!!
Hi Marlena, please come back on Youtube, we miss youuuuuuuuu
Big big kiss
I agree totally……..
Hey with the primer potion does it matter what color i get? cus i am black and i am scared to buy it what if it turns out to be too white. The multiple eyeshadow where can i buy it? .

Hi Marlena,
Need help!……I love the summer review, but can you tell me what eye cream/shadow that I can wear to the beach without it washing off or looking like a raccoon after a couple of hours?? Will MAC paint pots work and water proof eyeliner work? Wasn’t sure if paint pots were water proof or not.
Thanks for everything!!!

hi marlena, do you have any advice on skin care products? do u have a tutorial on complete make up application from start to finish. im new to your site and still a bit rusty on how your site works. thanks
Marlena,
I love your videos, they are the most unique, down to earth, best hands on learning tool I have ever used to learn how to apply makeup, where were you when I was in junior high and highschool looking like mimi from the drew carey show. you laugh but I’m just being honest. I just wanted to sincerely thank you for taking the time to show people how to properly apply make up. I work for a law firm and everyone else gets complements on their hair and make up, since I followed your videos, now I do too!

I love Urban Decay! I have recently bought their Pocket Rocket lipgloss. I love them! Have you tried them yet. I was told they are like the MAC Dazzleglasses.
Great review!! Just wondering…I love the ring that you are wearing in this video and was wondering if you would share where you bought it. Thanks and have a great weekend!!
Hi! Love your reviews! What color is the Urban Defense? Bulletproof or Bodyguard?
I’ve been following your videos for about 6 months now, and you have completely given me the confidence to wear many of these looks proudly!
I frequently get compliments on my eye makeup, and I owe it all to you! Thanks so much! You look fabulous as always!
I was wondering what the name of the four colors you used in the MUG palette are.? You listed seven and I would like to know the name of the four in the palette.
You are GORGEOUS!!
& very helpful! thank you so much for posting all these videos
Keep it comin’!
I’m going to try out the MUD products! Thanks for this review! I hope you can review Urban Decay’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ palette and maybe provide some tutorials? Please?! lol I love the shimmer and the way the shadow looks on your skin in the article you provide online. By the way, thanks for doing that, we can see the shadow’s texture and luminosity better because of that sort of demonstration. Unfortunately it’s sold out right now, but God as my witness, I will get that palette! Take Care!

Love your videos. Your gorgeous and very talented, by far the BEST guru on youtube. Well done Hun!
I will like to know what is your opinion on the 88 color palette if it is any good & is it a BH cosmetic original?
Hi-I am in my early 50′s and wondering if you have any make up tips for your older subscribers. Love your channel!
What kind of face products do you use to wash your face?I have been breaking out on my forehead and chin plus i have oily skin.=l. I’ve tried differend products but they don’t seem to work! Plz help!!!Also when you apply your make up on do you apply it also on your eye lids?
Thank you for all the tips. I am a working makeup artist in Florida. I heard about the Urban Decay spray fix and I immediately bought it. It definitely comes in handy being on set and especially in the Florida heat. It works very well and there is less touching up. I highly recommend it. Thank you for all your videos and reviews!!
can you list all the products thanks!
