Coastal Scents GO Palette Review
Coastal Scents has a brand new product: 7 new palettes all inspired by different countries! These “Go Palettes” include 12 eyeshadows that are all associated with the particular country of the palette. Coastal Scents has a great concept here. These palettes are great for travel, and ironically are inspired by travel!
I definitely found some positive elements about this product. First off, I love the packaging. Sometimes when I look at Coastal Scents products, I am disappointed with their packaging. However, these creative palettes are rather original! In addition to the packaging, is it ok to say that I love the low price?? Makeup can be rather expensive, we all know that! It is so refreshing to see such an eye-catching product for such a low price. The palettes are available individually from Coastal Scents for $8.49…so I’d say that’s pretty cheap! These conveniently small palettes are great for travel, and the variety in colors makes it nice for different looks. So if you’re looking for a cheap alternative to mix up your makeup collection these Go Palettes make a great twist!
Now, I know nobody likes to hear the negative elements, but here they are. I do think, for the most part, the colors in each palette are well associated with each country, but there are a few that I thought were a little random. For example, loved loved loved the Paris palette…but didn’t exactly know what to do with the brighter blue! Also, the Nuuk,Greenlandpalette had a few too many neutral colors for me. I didn’t love it. In addition to that, I thought these palettes didn’t have very much variety in colors and finishes within each individual palette. For instance, I thought some palettes had too many matte colors, or even vice versa by having too many frosty/satin shadows. My biggest negative element of these palettes was that they all did not have the same level of pigmentation. I would have loved to swipe my finger over each color and see clearly what the color was…rather than for some of the lighter colors having to rub the brush hard on the color in order to get enough for a swatch. Not all of the colors are bad, some are better than others. I noticed the lack of pigmentation more in the lighter colors for sure. If all the shadows had great pigmentation I would hands down suggest that everyone have a Go Palette of their own!
For your convenience, Makeup Geek chose the 5 palettes we loved the most from the Coastal Scents collection, and they are available in our store now. Like I mentioned earlier, there were two we didn’t care for very much. If you would like to have the complete collection they are available at Coastalscents.com, but we only want the highest quality products for our MUGGIES!

cairo is my favorite place ive ever been to..thats enough to make me go out and buy my palette
It is cheap, but I am not impressed…
The pigmentation doesnt seems to be all that…i think i will pass on these! Thanks for the review!
Pigmentation is the most important thing, so no matter how many shadows there are, it doesnt matter if you cant use them properly!
I have a larger coastal scents palette and was very disappointed. The colors weren’t pigmented at all. Even with layering, you could barely tell I was wearing eyeshadow after an hour or two. I gave mine to my young daughter for her to play with. I saved my money and bought Urban Decay’s Naked palette after this purchase, and I am SO much happier – even for several times the price.
I find this rather surprising…. considering that I have four 88 color palettes with amazing color payoff and a stunning selection of color. Coastal Scents is my go to company…. because on a college budget, brands like MAC, Sephora, Too Faced, Urban Decay and Lorac just can’t be afforded. Maybe they changed the formulas for the products or something……… ?
Also, I have found that using a good primer (the only thing I can splurge on) pretty much solves my pigmentation issues. I can turn a cheap, drug store product into something that looks like a million bucks. Perhaps this may not work for everyone though. Different products work differently on everyone.
I guess I’ll save my Christmas money for something else then, lol.
I think would be cool if you did a tutorial with each pallete.
I find this rather surprising, I have seen live swatches of these palettes and the pigmentation is awesome. The pictures do not do these palettes justice!
I am from Egypt and live next to Cairo …I think the colour choice is very smart ..We love all these browns yeah
…but I can’t see enough pigmentation as well …However , I wish coastal scents would be available here wich isn’t
i guess i’m going to buy paris
