WOW!!!! I ACTULLY USE LOREAL VOLUMINOUS MASCARA AND I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU MARLENA,ITS ACTULLY THE BEST MASCARA I HAVE TRIED. WAIT BETTER THAN VOLUMIOUS? I HAVE TO TRY THE FIBERWIG MASCARA IT HAS TO BE BETTER…. GOSH MARLENA YOUR SO PRETTY AND DO VERY GOOD REVIEWS!!!!!!!!!!!1
WOW!!! I’m one of the first to send a message!! YAY!!! Anyway, so i am hoping to go to a M.A.C store next saturday that sells M.A.C pro products. Marlena there is so so so much to look at and see so i would really appreciate it if you helped me and gave me some recomendations of what to buy or check out. I went the other day to David Jones (store with makeup stores in it) and had a look around at the makeup, i bought some products… smash box face primer and the revlon foundation i really like them so far the only thing is my face is drying out and is braking out (not from the primer or foundation)… do you have any idea of what i could do????? I am using a three step cleansing routine by Clinique so i reduced my use of it to let my skin breath. OH and Marlena when shopping the other day i looked at Benefit makeup, wow they have some good products (expensive – in Australia makeup is a lot pricier then America) do you know any good products i should check out by Benefit??????? Anyway Marlena i would just like to thank you for all the hard work you put into your work it is recognised by me and i’m certain everyone else!!!!! Ok then i really hope to hear from you!! Thank you again Marlena.
YOU’RE A STAR!!!!!!
Try Benefit Hoola bronzer–I use it almost everyday-very pigmented, so a little goes a long way. Also, the Benetint is so lovely. I use it to highlight my cheekbones and cupid’s bow. Those are my recommendations for Benefit products

One question: how do you know that you’re face isn’t breaking out due to the new products you’ve been using (primer/foundation)? Maybe it’s too heavy of a product to be using in the summertime. Try tinted moisturizer for a little while, and see how your skin does after a week or so. With the heat and humidity in the summertime, it’s very common to forgo foundation and use a lighter product, like the tinted moisturizer. Let me know how it goes
Marlena, you’re the best! I look forward to your vids and blog posts–you’re so professional, but personable at the same time–you make us all feel like one of your girlfriends! Thanks for all you do!
Ta different primer … The Smashbox primer has dimethecone (silicone) and it forms a barrier on the skin, which does not allow the skin to breathe. Using it every day is probably too much for your skin (it is for most).
Try a silicone free primer, such as the MUFE HD #0 primer or the LORAC AquaPrime…hope that helps!
oops-i said i used benetint for highlight, but i meant highbeam by benefit–sorry!
I love the bobby brown Gel Liner, iv had it since Christmas and its a great product. Great review. Keep doing what your doing your so brilliant at it.
I love love LOVE your tutorials! I have a wedding coming up in a WEEK and was wondering if you could do a tutorial on a look Rihanna had for the 2008 AMA’s. I think this look is gorgeous. Here’s a link
http://www.coutureinthecity.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/rihanna008.jpg
If you click on the pic it should enhance it for details. Any HELP would be great. Thank you!
Hi Marlena! I really love your videos! Great haul, very nice products!
I follow your tutorials for a while and your work actually inspired me to start my own blog, thank you very much for it!
I wish you all the best!
Jelena
hey i watched your video and i just wanted to let you know the fiberwig mascara is by imju, a japanese brand. its actually targeted at asian ladies with short and sparse lashes.
Hi, How are you? YOU ARE BACK!!!! two questions: I wear a red dress, I need your help. I don’t know how to choose the colors of eyeshadows, lips…?(my hair is dark brown and my eyes are green/brown, and my skin is pale) and what are the steps of application of my loose powders, blush, primers…?thank you
I think you should look at her vintage glam look tutorial, I think it’s the perfect look for that sexy red dress.
I used the FiberWig mascara for a while but it made my eyelashes really weak and brittle ):
Hi Marlene, the Fibrewig mascara has been popular across countries like Japan, Taiwan & Singapore. Personally, I didn’t find anything fantastic abt it becoz it’s a very wet mascara, has to wait for it to dry, and I don’t see my lashes curling.
My favourite is Maybelline Curly Extension ( only in Asia), which does wonders for me. See my video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC_sw2hqa3Y and u will understand why.
Great haul – thanks so much! I also love Bobbi Brown’s Gel Liner!!
Hi Marlena
I agree about the Illamasqua liquid metal, they do crease but they are amazing, Surge is my favourite one.
It is true about MAC fluidline, they tend to dry out
You are so lucky to have gotten your hands on the Bobbi Brown gel liner in Sapphire Shimmer, it’s no where to be found!! I immediately went shopping online after viewing this video. I checked bobbibrowncosmetics.com, amazon.com, and ebay. The only things that’s even remotely close to it is the new Denim Ink. I’ll continue to look though, I just have to have it!
Great bag of goodies you got there. I can’t wait to try out the rice powder in natural. I use the Nars one, too (after seeing your review on it!) but the flesh is too pale for my summer tanned skin.
BTW, did you go to IMATS?
Ceelou, if you go to QVC.com they have a Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner in 13 different colors, although they don’t have Sapphire Shimmer, you might find something comparable you like:)
Hi Marlena,
Always love all your reviews and tutorials. Can not get enough of them. I’m a little bit obsessed with your site and makeup~!!! Just wondering a couple things:
1) can you list the products you are currently wearing in this makeup haul video
2) any future tutorials for wedding looks-bride, bridesmaids, etc.????
Thank you~!!!
this is the first time ive actually spent more than a few minutes on your site and I LOVE IT! i am a subscriber on youtube and i watch all your videos< but i am IN LOVE with your website. i will def be purchasing things from your website very soon!
I bought the fiberwig mascara 2 years ago when I was in Hawaii, and was so excited to use it. It was ok for me, didn’t thicken as much. The fibers were hard to wash off. It looks great on you though! I might have to give it another try!
Can’t wait for your next installment on how to become a makeup artist!
@Courtney – Could you tell me where you bought it in Hawaii? Thanks
Marlena, the brand is Imju. I’ve been using Fiberwig for EVER!!! (At least as long as I could get it in Sephora)
I watched this video with my mom and she really wants the rice powder but shes not comfortable buying it online at your store, did you buy it at sephora or a different store? so that way she can buy it. And also the same for the pallido eye primer, so that way i dont have to spend $17 for the too faced shadow insurance. lol
Thank you:)
Palladio is avalible at Sally Beauty Supply.
you can get both the primer and powder at a SALLY BEAUTY SUPPLY. they carry both lines
Thank youu!
they also carry them at ulta
Marlena, I was just curious about the rice powder being “translucent”. I work a lot with photographers and have always felt like any translucent powder makes the face look ashy in pics. Have you used this yet in photo shoots??
OMG Marlena!!! Finally, somebody pro status is recommending Fiberwig. I’ve been using it for over two years now and I can’t believe how many times I’ve told people this is the best mascara EVER. People just don’t believe me – they think I have extentions on lol. I love your post/blogs – you’re amazingly talented. Brenda

GODDESS MARLENA
KNEELING before your DEVINE PRESENCE
Greetings from Singapore!
Actually the Fibrewig mascara has another kind that’s used for the lower lashes. It’s sold here but I’m not sure if you guys have it over there. It has a really small brush almost the size of a pencil brush. It’s super convenient to use it! Way much better than any mascara brush tip!
Hey marlena, great vid as always! I *just* bought that voluminous mascara last night (BOGO 50% off @ CVS) thought I should try a change from my Double Extend (which I still love), guess I should’ve waited a few days! haha I’ll have to give the Fiberwig a try once I get through the new ones. I was wondering if you had any favorite other tools like tweezers, eyelash curlers, etc. Also, I know for many products that you recommend you say to buy them on ebay, but I’ve heard ALOT about fake MAC cosmetics/brushes and other brands on there; could you give us some tips on spotting them? Thanks!
I think you sold me on the rice powder and the liquid metal palette. I love love looooooove the color pay off.
Hi Marlena,
Thanks for the latest and greatest review. Have you done a review on facial primers – I’d like to know which ones you use? Also, what do you think of Mary Kay products?
Thanks! K
That’s awesome, I’ve always been a huge fan of the Voluminous stuff, too. I can’t wait to try the Fiberwig!
What about the becoming a makeup artist series? Are you still gonna be doing that I ws really looking forward to that. That cant be it!!!
hey Marlena,
I will be getting the rice powder, i have been looking for a good face powder for fair skin, plus i am so oily. Your tutorials are the best i look forward to watching them and learning about all the great products out there.
i just bought the rice powder at store near me and i love it, its great for girls who are oily like me.
I loved the Illamasqua Liquid Metal Palette!
Love your website, you’re my makeup diva!
marlena how do you feel about sephora’s trick of the trade makeup setting spray?
I love the voluminous mascara as well. I’ll have to give the Fiberwig a try
I found out with the hard way that the mac liners can dry out. I have not done this yet but I have heard that you can add water to the liner and that when your using the liner to turn it upside down to stop the air getting to it and drying it out. If u haven’t trashed like I did with mine, then maybe u can try it out.
thanks for the review! you look gorgeous and i’m loving the nars blushes! the only thing i’m not loving is the fiberwig mascara… not because the product doesn’t work great, but because they test it on sheep =( just a little disclaimer for any animal lovers like myself! Fiberlash by MAC is a great alternative.. no animal testing, just testing on models cause they deserve it- haha! =) =)
Hi Marlena! Thanks for the video, it was great! I went to the Makeup Geek store to look at the Rice powder in Translucent but it’s out of stock! Are you going to get a new shipment in soon?
Thanks!
Cristina
We love the things you’ve got! Please do tutorials with the Illamasqua item! We buy things when we see them in haul videos, but get dissappointed when they’re not used in tutorials, like the Urban Decay Vol. 2 Book of shadows. Wish I could see more tutorials from that. You look gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!
I have the Palladio powder I loooove it to death!!! Its a bit messy but totally worth it to me. I use a fluffy brush for it and just use whats in the lid. The only downside is that the box is TINY like 2″ wide and long and an inch tall. (I haven’t watched the video yet so the size is probably mentioned already lol)
Love ya Marlena!!
Marlena! I love the way you do reviews. It’s always so clear. and I love how you really connect with the viewers
OMG great review! I’m particularly excited because you mentioned a few products that
Ive recently purchased this week. I have the palladio rice powder and after following your flawless face tutorial, am in love. I did my own little haul based on some older vids you did and i bought the NARS loose setting powder, discovered a sparkly 1 they carry called “machu pichu”, orgasm blush, the multiple stick, and lipgloss ( ok so i went a lil crazy but it was my birthday). I HAVE A MAJOR QUESTION- How do you apply gel pot liner in the waterline, is it safe, and does it smear?? I bought the maybelline ones because I heard they were as good quality as smashbox, but have only used them on my lids. THANX AGAIN XO!!
O one more thing, your lipcolor is superb, and the highlight on your cheeks has me looking through my stuff to see if I can do it. Can you please do a tutorial on applying false eyelashes? I’m dying to try it but unsure where to start.
I cannot live without my Palladio Rice powder…I love it! Threw out the puff that came with it and use either a powder brush or a disposable puff. I’ve been using it for a year and it has a permanent spot in my makeup collection.
Hi there, its the first time i leave a comment but just jumped in to say that im in looooooove with ur website!!!! ure sucha likable and gorgeous girl and i love to watch ur videos!!…btw great haul
I have an upcoming wedding this month as well and i just noticed a girl called TANYA asked u for the Rihanna makeup tutorial and i adore that look too!!so PLEASE would u do that tutorial for us???Thanks for sharing what u know!!!XOXO
Hey Marlena,
Ive bben watching you for awile and I noticed that you always have really pretty cocktail rings on where do you get them?
Thank you so much! You’re awesome. I really appreciate the recommendation of the Palladio Powder. I’ve seen it sold at Ulta. I think it’s really great that you always include less expensive alternatives for makeup. I always value your recommendations =^)
Hey Marlena! i love your tutorials, i was just wondering if you could do a tutorial on the make up you’re wearing in this video? that would really be appreciated thanks xx
A question for you, Marlena. As a makeup artist, you probably know something about the organic/eco-friendly makeup trend (like the stuff in Sephora.com’s natural/organic makeup section). Is it really better for your skin than normal makeup? Is it good to have a balance/variety, like all-natural skincare and normal makeup? What is your opinion on this?
great review Marlena a do agree with the palladio products they have some hidden treasures
and by the way your hair looks super cool as usual you got to tell me your hair routine girl
it looks so pretty and shiny and put together don’t be mean and share Hey! you should do a tutorial on that that be cool .
best wishes girl
Bye
i got my fiberwig mascara here in japan =) i usually see this but never tried because i didn’t know that it is amazing they don’t have testers or something… but now i got it i’ll try it maybe by tom =) tnx marlena girl good job hope you will continue doing videos and advices for us
Hi Marlena, I like your wonderful goodies u picked up
Makeup shopping is always the best! I’d love to see a tutorial using the illamasqua eyeshadow pallet.
Hi Marlena,
Great haul! Going to have to try those Palladio products! And the fiberwig. If it’s better that voluminous, it must be awesome. Voluminous has been one of my favourite mascaras since highschool and then I couldn’t find it in stores where I live, so I had to get it online. So now, I guess I’ll have to find fiberwig to buy in Australia.
I’ve tried the nars blushes after seeing your tutorials, and I must say that i agree with you about blush with no shimmer. I much prefer a matte blush!!!
Thanks so much for sharing all of your tutorials and reviews. Absolutely adore your site! Thanks again, keep up the amazing work!!!
x-chel
Dearest beautiful Marlena,
I was just wondering what you thought about Mary Kay makeup…I would love you input? Am I wasting my money? Thanks for your tuts! I love them
It’s great to see what others are using and why – thanks Marlena! I completely agree with the NARS blush…I love their colour range and high pigments
Wow, great review, I had a shock to see Palladio rice powder as part of the review though. I remember my grandma use to use it a long long time ago and the packaging was a little different minus all the fancy sponge and shift. I remember it as a square block of harden rice powder in a container. So good to see it again.
Gonna go try it again
Nars loose powder is still availalble at Nordstroms and on the narscosmetics.com website. I love the Beach Loose Powder. It is expensive, but amazing.
Just wanted to let you know in case you wanted to replenish your Nars loose powder stock!
Also, for those Bobbi Brown Eyeliner lovers….(I am one of them)…for Hazel/Brown eyes…the Black Plum Ink is beautiful. I order it on easy pay from QVC.com (Bobbi Brown sells her makeup on their for easy payments). The price of $21 is currently broken out into 2 monthly payments and they have countless colors of the eyeliner….
Could you do more haul\reviews on your favourite drugstore products!!! I love your haul\ reviews but I can’t afford most the makeup on them. Please and thank-you:)
I love your eyes in this video…is there a tutorial on your look here?
The best mascara I`ve ever used is the YSL False Lash effect, you have to try it, the only problem is that`s kind of expensive: 30$ But I think it`s worth it!!
I think Fiberwig is a Asia brand or something. I was a little disappointed with it. It was suppose to add volume to the lashes and it didn’t on mine. I have long lashes but not thick (common among Asians) But i guess a little better than the normal mascara for me, as the fiber did add a little more but not as expected (in fact the results is not even as good as a good thick mascara)
I’ve been using Bobbi Brown gel liner forever. I love it! it doesn’t smudge thru out the day and no leaky eye liner (must have) Im using the color Caviar and it looks like black and at the same time it’s not too dark for day and u can apply thicker to look more black. When it first started it’s just 2 or 3 colors, not they have a lot. Gonna try bronze/brown soon
Marlena~thanks for the info. I have been on your site for about 2-3 yrs now and am always discovering new tricks/ info and insight from my fellow muggies. so thank you for providing such an awesome place for us to share our thoughts, our work and our passion for all things makeup!
Secondly~I’ve taken notice and am LOVING your eyebrows lately. Dont know if they are fuller or if you darkened them but I would love to see a tutorial on your typical routine for shaping/grooming and which is better pencil, gel or powder for filling in??? Mine got pretty thin there for a while so I am trying to grow them back out and have found a couple tutorials on You Tube…but I must say, I am diggin yours!
Always~Katie!
You look so beautiful in this tutorial! Could you give please give a tutorial on what you are wearing on your eyes…Thank U
Great tutorial! I’ve been looking at the rice powder for a while, so its great to know it works well, any idea when it will be back in stock?! Thanks
I was so excited about the Rice powder – I am really a light to med skin tone, but the translucent was WAY too light for me. I am so bummed. I am going to try the next shade darker as soon as I can get to a Sally’s Beauty Supply to avoid another shipping cost.
Any idea when the MUG Stippling brushes will be back in-stock??
Thanks for your videos – you have given me the courage to try some new looks lately!
Hi Marlena,
LOVE LOVE LOVE you and your vids…I learn SO SO MUCH FROM YOU… =) So first I’d like to just say thank you for all you do for us True Make Up Geeks….haha =)- I was wondering I am a little older I will be 39 on the 27th….and I have just discovered my obsession with being girly….haha I know I know Im a little late…in the game! LOL….But I was wondering I am of hispanic decent and I have an olive complection….I noticed I am starting to get some blemishes on my face in terms of spots and like little pin drop moles or face spots…So I was wonder what would you recommend when it comes to face shimmers and/or bronzers?
Thanks in advance,
Christina =)
omg ur tutorials are amazing:)
u really know what you are talking about!
can u please check out my channel on youtube-blondefashion01
xoxo
hi marlena, love the haul, love sephora. thank you so much.
AWESOME TIPS!!! THANXS! ?
Hi Marlena,
I cant help but to comment on Palladio Rice powder when I saw it! It reminds me when I was small, I used to see my aunts having this sort of loose powder box. And that was about 20 years ago! The packaging of small square box is so similar and especially the lady on the box! I kid u not!! It was a very cheapo product that everyone can afford back then. It is a non-branded item and its like a little red box in color, and the powder is totally white in color and it is in baked version. I have no idea where the items are origin from, but its like China? Coz the wordings are all in Chinese. It was extint already for many years and I was surprise to find one surface thats almost identical!
i watches your tutorial all the times and so far none of the girl i like more than you because you have the best makeup tutorial ever..no joke!…i was watching it on youtube and you always talking about check me out on makeupgeek.com so i decided to come by and i was confuse, i was like “is this a website on your own that you create or what is this website about”?..i see that you have a shop too and i was so excited and wondering are these are some of the stuff that your selling?..so what kind of payment do you accept?…i’ll love to get some stuff!!!!get bak at me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn girl ur advice in this video is extremely helpful! Thank you SO much- Ur BEAUTIFUL girl!
take care.
<3ERiCa
That’s awesome, I’ve always been a huge fan of the Voluminous stuff, too. I can’t wait to try the Fiberwig!www.favsky.net

Hi Marlena!
I love all your videos and tutorials! So I would like to tell you how you have helped me. (Not only by posting your awesome tips and tricks with makeup
Next year, it’s time for me to apply to another school. And I had no idea what I was going to apply to. But you have got me interested in the makeupartist program. So thank you! And keep uploading videos, they are appreciated!.
What lipgloss were you wearing in this video? By the way, i LOVE your videos, they helped me apply my own makeup better and you are so beautiful.
