Hello Kitty Noir Eyeshadow Palette Review from Makeup Geek on Vimeo.

Today I am reviewing the Hello Kitty Eyeshadow and Lipgloss Palette. It comes with 25 different colors of eyeshadows, including neutrals, purples, blues, pinks, blacks; some of them are shimmery and some are matte. It also comes with 10 lip glosses, that range in color from pale pink to dark maroon. Some of the glosses are very transparent, others go on with more color, they are great for layering or wearing just one. All the makeup comes packaged in an extremely cute Hello Kitty tin that you can keep even after you’ve used up all the makeup!
What I love:
I really like the nice tin that the makeup comes packaged in, but I wonder why they didn’t paint her nose yellow. I like all of the colors of eyeshadows and lip glosses. I love that it comes with a double ended lip/eye brush that says Hello Kitty on it. The brush ends were nice they weren’t prickly and they didn’t lose hairs while I was using them, this is a good quality brush. The glosses are nice and smooth with a variety of colors, they don’t feel sticky or smell yucky either like some lip products do.
What I hate:
Nothing! Well, maybe the price.
Let’s talk price: The retail price is listed as $49. I think that is a bit too much money because my 88 palette was about half that cost. We did find some websites that were selling it for $25, which is a much more reasonable price.
This palette has tons of colors and they are all different. You could create an endless number of looks with this palette that you can wear anywhere, like a party or you could even use it for everyday! This would also be a good palette to grab if you are going on a trip or spending the weekend away from home. This palette would also be an awesome gift to give to any girl that loves Hello Kitty!
So all in all, I really love this palette! I think it’s super cute and I can’t wait to see how many looks I can create with it!
Rating: 4 out of 5

what website did you find them for 25 dollars?
Sephora had it for $24, but it is out of stock.
Ok marlena,
You have outdone yourself again. Having emma do this review, is not only genius and quite adorable… …but gets me very excited for my 2 year old little one to start doing her own reviews! I can’t wait to take mazzy to sephora! Thanks Emma! Your were extremely cute!!!
omg ur adorable ! Lol
So I was in a bad mood today and now after watching this I’m not. Too cute!
What the……….?????????? hahahahaha
Soooo cute and adorable Emma ! I love your review darlin…
I loved the way she held her hand up to show us the eyeshadow brush! Just like Marlena does on her tutorials!! So, so, cute!!!
Me too! It was my favorite part
Adorable!
SOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE ! ! !
and I am talking about you sweet Emma!!!
Well done! You are AMAZING!
Emma is so adorable!
This review is simply so cute!!! Great job gal!!!
i thought this was a cute, fun review, and I was sad to see someone post a negative comment about a little girl doing this. As Muggies, we can all relate to this review as I’m sure most of our make up obsession started when we were children, and I’m happy MakeUp Geek took a chance to showcase someone else’s opinion other than Marlena (whether it’s different ethnicities or different ages). Because of this, I am even a stronger fan and supporter of MakeUp Geek.
Awww what a cutie!!! The Hello Kitty Palettes are always a great gift to give girls for their first makeup kit
I still remember my first Makeupkit from when I was 7 & I still have it!!!
OMG this is too cuteee awww n hey she did a pretty good job!
I think she did an excellent job! she was so professional, and swatched all the colours beautifully. Well done sweetheart, wonderful review
i love mug and marlena but sorry dont appreciate a kid doing a makeup review. its precocious. and im amazed you guys remove negative comments!! not cool guys..
They have the right to remove whatever they want if deemed inappropriate such as people leaving profanity laced rants. You don’t like it that’s fine you have the right to have an opinion, but some of the people on here have gotten down right ugly over a little girl reviewing Hello Kitty. Why is that because your tarnished minds go to a dark place where you make assumptions about could or couldn’t happen when a kid is placed in front of a camera. This isn’t Toddler and Tiaras honey lay off with holier than though attitude.
Please dont get so defensive. I agree its rude when some people get all ugly when they dislike something. But many dont and have genuinely found a kid reviewing make up weird and uncool and have expressed it plainly. Just like a lot of us love and admire Marlena’s work this time we didnt identify with her. Thats all. Once must accept differing views too.
If the comment was about a video of mine, I would have left up but she is a child. She’s not wearing makeup out in public but is playing with it for fun. No harm, and she demonstrates how articulate and bright young children are
i think it’s great to see a child playing these days like how I did instead of playing video games or watching tv. I would be interested to know what the games those people played who didnt like it.
I agree with you Cherry. And I think it is positive discussing this in a respectful way. I love Marlena’s work, But I do not support kid wearing make up.
Dedee,
I absolutely respect differing views. When it comes to people’s opinions about kids on the Internet that is in the end a parents choice. This is no different than kids in commercials. My issue with all the negative comments is that no one is looking at the product which admittedly comes from a company that caters to young girls and teens. Everyone is harping on why a young girl did it I say why not. Kids are in commercially and this essentially is a more simplified version of one. She is not in provocative clothing she is not acting in an inappropriate way this child is simply talking about Hello Kitty makeup. Let’s keep it in perspective. I am a mom and a fierce advocate of child protective programs but I am also practical and pragmatic. We all need to take a breath and a step back and stop bashing this video for what could maybe possibly happen. BREATH PEOPLE BREATH!!!!!!
Really? A kid reviewing a product that’s first and foremost for kids is SO appalling?
I think this video isn’t only so ADORABLE! But also practical and gives us the point of view of someone who is in the age group this product is meant for. And for the record i started playing around with makeup when i was about her age and i’m pretty sure, i’m alive and well
Don’t bash the video just because it’s a kid putting on makeup see things in perspective and please do think before you start posting mean words about it! It is after all a child!
Begga
Did you actually read my post or only picked and chose what you wanted to see? I am defending this video against the people who are attacking her for being in it. Reading comprehension you should try it sometime before you go off on me. Cherry was the one who started the post against this little girl.
haha, i just asked the question really?, i was not talking about you
So cute <3
Rainbow arm! That is the cutest thing ever. Made.my.day!
OMG you are ADORABLE! Thanks to your review, I will be getting this palette for my 15 yr old daughter,( as her 1st experiences with makeup) who also LOVES Hello Kitty
….Great job Emma!
I think this video is absolutely adorable. I can’t keep my 7 year old sister out of my make up. She is just like me when I was 7. I’m going to have to show her this. (which will probably mean she’ll beg me for the palette) lol
You’re so welcome sweetie pie
I loved watching your review- you were more thorough than me
Hi Marlena,
I’m sorry to get off topic but I didn’t know where to ask this question. I’ve been a fan of your videos for years and I finally have bought face primer and (Too Faced Primed and Poreless) and eye primer (Too Faced Shadow Insurance) for the first time!
My question is….do i put the eye primer on AFTER i put foundation on my eyelids…or do I put the eye primer on UNDERNEATH the foundation??
What I did today was I put the face primer all over my face, including my eyelids….then put foundation on everywhere including my eyelids…then put the Shadow Insurance on top of the foundation on my eyelids…then put my eyeshadows and eye makeup on.
Did I do it wrong??
Ahh, so confused!!
Thank you for your help and for being a great teacher!!!
Well, I’m not Marlena, but I think it’s supposed to go something like this:
1) Start with a clean face
2) Moisturizer (let it sink in)
3) Face primer (not on eyelids)
4) Foundation (not on eyelids)
5) Eye primer (on eyelids)
6) Eye make-up
^.^
Hahaha I think Amanda has just said it all!
Niloo there are different primers for different areas of the face. It’s always a good idea, as Amanda pointed out, is that you need to have a clean face before you put any sort of makeup on. Not only will it help prevent break outs, but also because it helps the makeup to spread evenly on the skin. Thes best way to go is…
1. Have your face nice and clean
2. Moisturze and let it settle for about 5-10 minutes
3. A really good idea is to put your ‘Eye primer’ all over the eyelid and all the way to under the eye brow.
4. Then apply your eyeshadow.
5. then after apply your foundation and concealer… Concealer goes 1st
Hope this helped Niloo <3 xxx
Hi Niloo,
I’m not Marlena but I figured I could throw in my 2 cents anyhow. I used to put foundation on my eyelids but then discovered how much creasing it caused even when I used my primer; it was just too much stuff on my lids. Now my routine is exactly as Amanda mentioned in her response to you.
Here is Marlena’s winter foundation routine where she demonstrates she does primer then foundation. http://www.makeupgeek.com/tutorials/look-fresh-and-dewy-this-winter/. Here is another http://www.makeupgeek.com/tutorials/updated-face-routine/.
The purpose of foundation primer is to smooth out any imperfections and (at least for me) it gives a nice smooth canvas to work with. So this always goes under your foundation.
The purpose of eye primer is to give your shadows something to adhere to, to make the color more vibrant, and prevent creasing. If the reason why you use foundation on your lids is to neutralize any discoloration, perhaps you may wish to try Urban Decay’s Eden Eye Primer http://www.makeupgeek.com/reviews/urban-decay-eden-eye-primer-potion/. You can always ask a Sephora representative to make you a small sample of this primer so you can see if it works for you.
Good luck!
Omg this is so adorable! I love when she puts her hand in the back of the brush so we can see the Hello Kitty on it…”Here see…eyes…and lips!” lol WAY too cute!!!
it’s extreeeemely cute. extremely cute.
hahaha, SHE is adorable!
She is super cute
This little girl is way too cute, but I’m not sure how I feel about her wearing makeup at such a young age. Even if she is only wearing it at home and playing dress up.
i want this
wow….Its soo adorable…I really like the way she did the whole review…u r sooooc cute Emma…Thnx Marlena for sending that cute hello kitty to her:)
hahahahaha this made my day!! Congrats Emma, you are a great reviewer!!
I think it was really cute and fun! Come on! most girls play dress up with their mom’s, sisters’ or any older girl they have around stuff: shoes, bags, dresses, jewerly! What’s wrong with that? She’s not wearing it outside home and i bet that she finished the review and went to wash her face. Also it is good for her in the way that she gets to feel confortable in front of a camera (that can be a great skill when she grows up) and makes her feel that her oppinion its appreciated.
What a cutie! This reminded me of my daughter when she was that age and playing with my makeup.
Now that she’s all grown up, it’s a fond memory.
I found it particularly entertaining that this little girl was most interested in the packaging and what else you could do with it. You can tell that she is smart, very busy, and a thinker. She will be a terrific woman when she grows up.
I love that she said we could use it for left overs. I couldn’t stop laughing. It was just too cute! I agree with you; she is going to be a very articulate young lady.
BTW, I find that playing dress-up at home is a terrific opportunity to teach our daughters what we want them to think about women, dress, correct and incorrect behavior, modesty, and all kinds of things along those lines. This sort of play seems to be an important part of children figuring out who they are and the sorts of adults they will be.
I agree a hundred percent. I think sometimes as adults we don’t agree with our lttle girls playing with makeup because we feel they look grown up, we forget that to them its play just like finger painting. They see us do it and are drawn to it. lol i can not tell you how hard it is to keep my two year old away from my makeup if she catches it in her reach shes def getting into it, not that she has playmakeup just an example of how watching us makes them curious.
I have mixed feelings about seeing such a young little girl play with makeup. but I understand this was done in an innocent, jokingly manner. She is very cute and looked like how all us girls get when playing with makeup..young and old alike ^_^
She is so cute .
This is so cute!!!! We all played with make up one way or another when we were kids, so just relax everyone!
wow I want it!! I love our videos Marlena! you are awesome
i mean your videos
This little girl is super cute!!!
oh come on, didnt you girls ever play with barbies and play dress up as a little kid? girls generally like to look pretty. if you ask me, emma did a FANTABULOUS job here as a public speaker and as a future MUG (; well done emma! (: you are completely adorable!
My thoughts exactly Jackie.
looks like she is next marlena, cute
she is absolutely adorable
That was a super cute review, and pallette! Thanks for sharing!
Amazingly well spoken. Emma, you did a better job than most people twice your age!
Oh my god.. I seriously laughed out loud that anyone could honestly find something negative to say. What a bunch of negative squares…
Emma rock on with your rainbow stripes! We lov u!!
Adorable! Who in their right mind would say something negative about a little girl. Shame on you guys and Ur ugly minds.!!
I got this Hello Kitty for Xmas from my sister. Love it, love it!
It’s quite ridiculous that so many people here are getting all political and huffypuffy over something so innocent and sweet. If you seriously think that young girls playing with makeup is inappropriate…then your head is in the wrong place. There are much more serious things to be worried about in the growth of a child. Don’t you see how much joy this is bringing her? What a great mother-daughter bonding activity!
Absolutely fantastic review. What a talented child. Great work Marlena!
That sweet little girl put on some make up for dress up and fun of doing a review for Marlena and people are going nuts! I know I played plenty of dress up with make up and plastic high heels when I was her age! I love this review. I’m interested in this palette. “And I”ll be right back with my lip rainbow arm” haha so cute!
She is so adorable! This reminded me when I used to play with my mom’s make up as a kid. She is a very articulate little girl. I think it is great that you allowed her to do this because she is able to continue her communication skills, which we all know is key! Another wonderful review.
How can you not just smile and laugh while watching her video. Love it! Her “rainbow” arms cracked me up, not to mention how serious she was while putting on her lipstick and eyeshadow. Watching this video brought back memories of my mother allowing me to wear a horrid bright red lipstick, that I had proudly chosen, while we were out fishing as a child. What fun!
Super Cute! Love this video! She did an amazing job and gave wonderful details.
This video brought me back to childhood! Made me think of my mother sitting in front of her makeup mirror day after day, coffee near by, expertly applying her makeup while I eagerly watched waiting for the day I too could apply makeup in front of that brightly lit mirror! Those days are long gone, as is the makeup mirror, recently my mother, but not my love of makeup!
Emma, with her bright smile, cheerful personality, not to mention her attention to detail, and her enthusiasm caused these childhood memories to come rushing back! It is a priceless gift she has given me, intended or not!
I think this was the cutest video ever! It is great to see a little girl review this product since it targets younger girls. It was adoable to see her opinion on the colors and the packaging of the product. You can sure tell she likes to watch Marlena do reviews hahaha. Good job Makeup Geeks keep the fresh new ideas and touch of sweetness to your site.
Emma you were wonderful and I appreciate your amazing review, I am going out to purchae this pallette for my neice who will love it! You Rock!
My youngest niece always bugs me for lip gloss so this totally reminded me of her! I think it’s adorable! No harm in little girl being girly. If I didn’t try on my mom’s heels when I was 7 or sneak some of her lovely red lipstick I don’t know where I’d be today!!
OMG! She’s sooo cute. She tottaly made my day.
Hahaha “Bye youtoubeee” hahaha.
I love you Marlena! I never knew how to put on makeup really…..until I watched your videos. Thank you so much for your tutorials!! I actually work at a makeup shop and everyone compliments me on my makeup now lol. I was wondering….my friends and I use Jane Iredale products and I was wondering if you could do a tutorial using her products? We all love them and Im sure that you will too.
I know we would really appreciate it!
oh my!! it’s a mini Marlena!!!!
I loved it…… Clearly she is enjoying it.
I think this was a very unique and fun post.
I am sorry to see that there are a few making more out of something then it really is.
Please don’t let it affect your creative juices from flowing.
Can’t wait to see what you come with next!
Well done,Emma! You go girl! You are going to be a great make-up artist some day!
Stay the way you are because you are just perfect!
Love you sweetheart!
I think this is wonderful! I remember when I was young I had my play sets of makeup – nothing as grand as this, but it was still makeup. I wasn’t allowed to wear it out of the house and it was a form of dress up. To me, letting a little girl play with makeup is like letting her pretend to cook, or have a baby doll. Children play pretending and practicing what they see adults do in life, (like a mother taking care of her baby, or a parent making them lunch). Taking this away from her is like saying you can’t let her have a baby doll, or a boy having a toy car, because it’s too grown up. WTG Marlena and Emma!!
I loved this emma I am 8 years old like you I love your videos on you tube I love makeup like you emma have fun doing makeup keep up the good work emma
