Review: LORAC Perfectly Lit Luminizing Powder

Hi lovely makeup geeks!  I hope your week has been going great so far and that your summer has been a fun one!

Today I have another review for you for the Perfectly Fit Oil-Free Luminizing Powder. I’ve been using this new cheek highlighter lately that has been giving me a beautiful, natural glow for the summer.  I switched from my Armani Fluid Sheer to a powder as my skin has been a bit more oily in this hot, muggy weather.  I found this Lorac Luminizing Powder to work perfectly for me as it’s a powder highlighter vs a liquid, plus it’s easier to travel with since it comes in a sleek case which is great to take with you in your purse to work or pack for traveling.

The Perfectly Lit Luminizing cheek highlighter comes in a powder that is shimmery, but not glittery like many other highlighters on the market.  The texture is very smooth and creamy and gives a natural glow to my skin.  The color I have been using currently is “Spotlight” which is a gorgeous warm beige color!  This is the perfect shade for summer month when my skin is darker. If I had to choose just one color, it would be this one.  Luminous is great for fair skin and Radiant is best for dark skin.

The highlighter comes in 3 shades:

  • Luminous – Golden Cream/Champagne
  • Spotlight – Warm Beige
  • Radiant – Golden Brown

There are two ways you can apply a highlighter. The first method is to use a stiff foundation brush like the Makeup Geek Flat Foundation Brush which will provide more control over the product. Or you can use a cheek highlighting brush like the Makeup Geek Cheek Highlighter Brush to achieve a nice all over glow to the cheeks.

The only downside to this product is the price: it is $32.00 USD for .34 ounces. For me, the price is a little much for what it actually is, but this does last a very long time so it’s not something you will have to repurchase a lot.  I do like the sleek, convenient compact which is great to throw in your purse or makeup bag for travel.

Advantages

  • Powder form which is great for summer months or oily skin.
  • Is shimmery, but not sparkly or glittery like some highlighters
  • Convenient compact, great for travel or purse
  • Gives a nice glow to the cheeks and adds luminosity

Disadvantages

  • Just a tad pricey…  ($32 USD)

Rating

  • Product:   5
  • Packaging:  5
  • Quality:  4
  • Price:  3
  • Would I Buy Again:  Most Likely
Where to Buy:    Sephora  .  Amazon  .  eBay

Overall, I really like this product especially for the summer months. The packaging is great although the price could be a little less. If you want to find a good alternative, you can use a little bit of eyeshadow to your cheeks to accomplish the same effect. Some good examples would be Makeup Geek’s  “Shimma Shimma” or for a more golden glow, use “Bleached Blonde

i love your look in this tutorial Marlena! done but not over the top. Really brings out the shape of your eyes. Love Lorac products. I had the privilege of doing PR for them at an agency years ago and got to use all the products gratuit. It was such a nice perk. The creator, Carol (Lorac backwards), was really ahead of the curve even back then!

Hey Marlena, thanks for the great review as usual :) Could you please make a video about spray tanning – you’ve mentioned it quite a few times but I would really like to know more about it :) Doesn’t it cause any skin problems? I am really curious :) Thanks one more time :)

Is the dual-ended concealer brush available yet? Neat idea! Also, what eyeshadows are you wearing? Very nice everyday or day date make-up look! I am always meeting my sweetie for lunch dates and this is an awesome yet simple clean look! Love it!

its looks pretty, is it better for yellow undertones? which one is better for like NC40-NC42 skin color?

hi sylvia, I have found an exact dupe for this. Its the Hardcandy Bronzer in shade TIKI (Its actually a highligher than a bronzer). Also the Wet n Wild bronzer in Reserve in Cabana.

I hope that helps you too. I’m an NC40 on MAC and I don’t want a pinkish highlighter.

Hi Marlena!
Could you please do a tutorial on the eye makeup you’re wearing in this video?
Thanks SO much!

Hi Marlena!

LOVE your review (as usual)… just wanted to send a funny comment & remind you that you “pluck” a chicken but you “tweeze” your eye brows. I make that same mistake all the time too.. haha!!!

I LOVE LORAC!! Been using this product for a long time now, and it is by far the best I’ve found. Like you said the eyeshadow alternatives can be too shimmery or have to much sparkle. Also, I love that it is my name spelled backwards lol!!

I bought Luminous three months ago from Sephora. I have tried four highlighter/illuminators on my very pale skin. It is by far the best of the bunch. Of course, it was by far the most expensive, too. It is not too shimmery at all. It shows up on my skin as glow. I also love it on my inner eye and underneath my eyebrows

Marlena – how can women with large pores and/or acne scars do a highlight? The shimmer draws attention to imperfect skin!
