My wife and I are Belly Dancers – which means we need tons of makeup and often need to take it all with us. The recently purchased makeup cases for each of us are already dangerously full…
April 16, 2013 at 5:29 pm #215710I’m not sure where this fits into this discussion, but I’ll relate the following anecdote.
I have a dance sister who is an ex-bouncer. She once told me that she got a LOT more respect and was taken far more seriously in her bouncer role when she did not wear ANY makeup of any kind. Not sure what this means…
April 16, 2013 at 5:22 pm #215709What Jenn-Scull said. My wife and I use, and like, quite a bit of MK. Good quality, good coverage, etc. No reactions or anything on US – not even my wife’s hyper-sensitive skin. With that said, their line doesn’t have everything we need – especially bright colors – so we also use MAC and the occasional Maybeline et. al. MK doesn’t have a lip stain, which I prefer for performances, as a for instance.
We LOVE their eye makeup remover, their foundations & primers, and their mascara. Their shadows are fine for the colors they carry.
January 26, 2013 at 4:10 pm #207759Ha! I like roundish/squoval on me – and I’m a guy!
January 7, 2013 at 4:54 pm #205698Somewhere between round and squoval. Square looks too stark for my taste.
August 12, 2012 at 7:46 pm #185620Ugh! Once you’re allergic to PPD, you’re “done”.
For whatever its worth, I Henna my hair, and love it. BUUUT – don’t Henna your hair over chemical treatments of any kind (or vice-versa). You might get lucky and not have anything bad happen – or your hair could turn such lovely colors as: Frog Butt Green, Swamp Bottom Black, Bozo the Clown Orange, or my favorite; Goat Vomit Yellow. Or you could even have a chemical reaction and burn/melt your hair!
Nothing to fool around with! http://www.hennaforhair.com – look under “warnings” on how to deal with this…

March 9, 2012 at 10:46 am #156849Yea – MK’s foundation is what I’m using now, and it does seem to work well to me.
February 29, 2012 at 3:54 pm #154897Interesting – my wife and I like MK’s eye makeup remover. We’ll have to try Wal-Mart’s!
February 28, 2012 at 7:07 pm #154613What’s the consensus about Mary Kay cosmetics? I’ve been using them for several years – along with a lot of MAC and a few “other things” – with good results, but MK *is* pricey, just like MAC is. My wife has been using their products for decades.
February 20, 2012 at 3:52 pm #153109Pretty!
I’m really liking Asassylilfairy’s nails – seriously nice.
February 20, 2012 at 3:50 pm #153108Just echoing what Megz says – when someone else does your makeup for free, you get what you pay for! But you won’t know if you don’t go and “play”. I’ve had makeup done that really came out well, then there was the time I had raccoon eyes. Pretty raccoon eyes, but raccoon eyes nontheless!
Win or lose, you’ll learn something! Being a more-or-less clueless guy, I need all the examples I can get, both positive and negative.
February 20, 2012 at 3:43 pm #153105My MK gal got me their oil mattifier as my forehead and scalp would put OPEC out of business if anyone ever drilled some wells…
Anyway, WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Put it on first, primer over that, foundation, etc. It works REALLY well for me, holds up onstage so my face doesn’t melt off about 2/3rds the way through a performance. -
