I don’t think either of you were disrespectful or hating on anyone, I just think this has been a misunderstanding.

@Breena, I agree with you very strongly about not rushing into adulthood, and I would certainly agree (though I realize you haven’t specifically said it) that there’s many young people who use makeup to do that.

    However, I don’t…[Read more]

@Breena, I certainly agree that no one is harassing her in this thread. However, that doesn’t automatically mean that someone hasn’t contacted her through private messages. If someone has been harassing her, or anyone else for that matter, in private messages then the only appropriate thing for me to suggest is to report it.

    You said “at 11 i was…[Read more]

*smiles* As I said, I have an 11yo daughter. So, I know all too well just how passionate and opinionated young people can be, and I assure you I mean that as a good thing. I also know, from experience, that some young people have a spark of interest at a young age. After all, we often hear stories of people who even as small children showed an…[Read more]

If you’re receiving harassing messages you need to report them. I would strongly suggest contacting @nick or using the contact page.

Why does use of makeup constitute “worrying” about it?

  • Interesting, and uber cool. Brides I’ve known either had a makeup artist or asked their bridesmaids to wear a certain style or colours.

I’m not sure which way to go, I can completely see the dilemma, but I’d probably choose whatever you feel really showcases the gorgeous depth your eyes have. I think the depth of your eyes will be really lovely…[Read more]

  • Possibly a silly question, but wouldn’t it be best to ask the bride?

  • I’m in New Zealand, and pretty much everything here costs two to four times what it does in America, with some being as much as six or even eight times. So I feel your pain regarding trying to find more affordable options.

I buy the vast majority of my cosmetics online for this reason. While it’s very easy to find fantastic Asian brands or lower…[Read more]

My daughter’s 11yo and wears makeup.

She wears BB creams and lip gloss or tinted balms most days, sometimes with a very light sweep of colour on the lower half of the lid, a little highlighter, or brightly coloured liner. Subtle or minimal. She also wears black lipstick quite often, but that’s more of a cultural thing. She has a 180 palette and a…[Read more]

I hear ya. Sadly, pretty much everything in NZ tends to cost two to four times what it costs elsewhere.

Just a couple of friendly bits of unsolicited advice *lol*

Your best bet as a Kiwi coveting cosmetics (actually, for most things in general really) is to buy online. Shipping is actually quite cheap, often free, and usually takes a little over…[Read more]

    MEAN AS!

The best tip I can give, and I think this goes for a lot of online communities, is to keep in mind that the vast majority of members come from Europe or the US. There’s a huge difference in availability and cost between here and there, and that has a huge effect on what products are really best for you and your wallet. As an example,…[Read more]

    • Cool, thanks for the tip.

Yeah, I’ve definitely noticed the price difference.

They are quite lucky to have things so cheap, I mean, I don’t wear makeup, but with that price. Gosh, I could by anything.

Yeah, I seen this forum, and thought, sweet, may as well join and see what its like.

I’m currently on another beauty website forum, and its…[Read more]

  • I agree with Shelly.

But I have to admit, I find it really hard to take a compliment, it makes me feel awkward and self-concious too. I find it easier to say thanks and follow with a compliment and a little advice/suggestion. As an example, I’ve gotten quite a few compliments about MUG Ravishing (matte bright red lipstick), and they usually…[Read more]

  • I like Tarte and Creer Beaute liners for my waterline.

Also, I find that running a Q-tip gently over my waterline prior to application helps.

  • Asian brand BB creams do provide coverage, and though much like foundation some are sheerer than others, as a general statement they’ll interfere with the natural colour of your PWS. As for Western brand BB creams, I don’t recommend them as they’re essentially over priced tinted moisturisers. Personally, I feel that when it comes to tinted…[Read more]

This probably sounds weird, but I use the hook side of velcro on the back of headbands to get them to stay put.

  • I agree with Shelly.

My lashes don’t hold a curl very well. I found that switching to a tubing mascara really helped. Also, I apply a light coat of mascara, let it dry completely, then curl my lashes and apply mascara as normal.

  • If you don’t want to cover your PWS simply don’t apply anything over it. If you do want to cover it, it doesn’t need to be heavy makeup.

What is it exactly you want to do? If you want a BB cream, what would you like it to do? When you say you want to enhance your features, which features are you interested in enhancing?

I completely understand what you mean about international shipping.

Makeup Geek is quite affordable, and they have a very affordable international shipping option.

There’s a lot of really good Asian brands. Etude House, Skinfood, and Missha would be among the more affordable brands on eBay. If they don’t have free shipping, which is essentially…[Read more]

  • replied to the topic working out in the forum Health & Beauty 11 months, 4 weeks ago

A little bit of a different perspective, but working out at the gym isn’t for everyone.

I prefer to work out at home, or at one of the local parks. I love walking the many tracks through the native bush around town. In summer I spend a lot of time at the beach, and I’ll visit the local pools in the cooler months.

I could never find the…[Read more]
