Not to be a downer on what is truly joyous news, but now is the time to encourage him to eat right and exercising. Granted, I don’t remember you mentioning what other treatments he’s undergone besides surgery, but while the cancer may be gone it can take the body a year or three to actually fully recover from cancer treatments, depending on what treatment he had and how many, and how that treatment effected him (eg loss of muscle tone or even muscle mass). Eating right and exercising can help with this recovery period, but there have also been a number of foods which are believed to help the body fight off cancer.

    screw you, cancer indeed!

aro – he’s still eating well, and currently going swimming 3 times a week! hes a legend :D he has had prostate cancer, so far its just surgery, but the doctor wants to do a shot of radiotherapy just to make sure everythings really good :) not really had that many side effects, other than pain (obvs) and problems with passing water. getting the bladder under control is ongoing process but he will get there, it amazes me how strong he is and that hes through it in one piece. lost my mum to cancer, both grandmas to cancer, two uncles and an aunt, one uncle has had it and is still alive and well and cancer free, other uncle not so lucky as he has it and its gone too far so nothing can be done, basically this time next year he may or may not be around :( i tell ya if i won the lottery id probably give all my money to cancer research, really hope theres a cure for it someday!

If all he’s had so far is surgery it would explain why he hasn’t had to deal with any of the bad side effects, as those tend to come from chemo and radiation, or if someone’s stupid game enough to try injecting Herceptin into areas it really shouldn’t be.

I can relate. A lot of my family has had cancer, and I’ve had a number of friends with cancer. My partner has had testicular cancer three times, and had more treatments than is safe for a person to receive in their life time, as well as having undergone some fairly stupid crazy game treatments. I myself was diagnosed with cancer when I was 18yo, and because of my medical problems I was told in my early teens that I have such an extremely high risk of cancer that they didn’t believe I’d live past 36yo. So, I’m very much on the “screw cancer” waka.

I truly wish you and your father the very best, it sounds as if he has the right mind set to conquer this.

As for a cure, you might want to Google cannabis cures cancer.

My father passed on a year ago from Prostate cancer – after a “successful” surgery 20 years before. The problem was that they didn’t do followup radiation back then…

The National Prostate Society recommends a daily supplement called “MaleGard”.
