    Hi MUGs,

I have a handful of tiny white bumps along my jaw line and up along the hollows of my cheeks. I recently looked it up and found something called Milia that looks just like it. It’s a buildup of keratin under the skin that’s very common in new born babies but also adults. From what I’ve read, it looks like my only hope to rid my face of them is to see a dermatologist. Before I do that, I wanted to see if any of you are familiar with them and whether you have any self treatment suggestions.

    Thanks!

I had a milia form at the corner of my eye after several days of applying a heavy eye cream. I used a sanitized needle and opened the skin in that area, and kept poking and proding around the hard white bump; hurt like hell. I also used hot compresses. After two days of repeating that procedure the milia just came out with a warm water rinse. I would recommend a lotion for acne prone skin, and gently expose the milia with a sanitized needle. If you can poke at the underneath of the milia and use hot compresses that would help. Although, if there are a lot of milia in that area, I would go to a dermatologist.

Um see a facialist, in most states they can get them out, lord knows I removed my fair share back in the day.

I used a really good exfoliant on the spot. Then used a peel on the spot to get it as thin as possible. I then used a sterile needle and poked a hole in the side of the spot and then simply squeezed. I wound up with 8 tiny tiny balls of white stuff that more or less oozed out.

I wish I’d seen a professional – would have been much less painful.

I have some Milia too. I’ve noticed that whenever i wear makeup it seems to look like it is caked on (even with VERY little makeup), and only seems to emphasize them. Does anyone have any tips?

I had Milia for quite awhile- it took me 6 months to get rid of (I think it was from NARS foundation :( ) Anyways, I use Retin-A and get an esthetician’s help whenever I can. Sometimes he/she can push them out, but using the retin A and exfoliating regularly helps them come out easier…

I agree, I get them too, as well as acne, I exfoliate few times a week and I use the oil cleansing method, I also use a rotating conair face brush.(I have a whole non-medicated method to keeping my skin clear).. my face stays pretty clear when I do this regularly if I get lazy I start breaking out and the millia becomes very noticible.

I found a product for the under eyes to exfoliate and treat. “Ole Henriksen: Truth is in the Eyes”. The makeup artist at Sephora gave me a sample and I love it. I’ve only used it for about a week, along with focusing on exfoliating when I wash my face, and it’s making them go away!!! The price is very steep ($65) for such a small amount of product (.75 oz). I would recommend going into Sephora and asking for a sample. If my millia come back in the future… I’m definitely considering buying this product, and I highly recommend it.
