Hey Makeup Geeks!

I need some help!!!

I have very oily, minor acme prone skin. I am currently using Estée Lauder Double Wear (Fresco) and its great for all day coverage but I hate the way it looks on my skin! I don’t know how else to describe it than I look lumpy and a little cakey

Can anyone suggest a foundation that has great all day coverage for very oily skin that looks smooth and flawless? Especially in photos…

Thanks a million

What’s your skincare routine? It may be a skincare issue and not a foundation issue.

As for dark eyelids, it may be from tiredness, or it could simply be genetic.

At the moment, I’m going between Proactiv and Arbonne face products for my skin routine.

I don’t think anyone in my family have dark eyelids and I get at least 7 hours each night…

Thanks for your response

The going back-and-forth between skincare is understandable (I used to use Proactiv; it dried my skin out quite a bit). Do you notice the foundation acting up on you more if you use a particular moisturizer, or does it not matter?

I also meant to ask if you use a foundation primer.

Yes, this is exactly why I alternate. I need the strength of Proactiv to help with my acne but it becomes very drying and harsh which is why I use arbonne also (Not really loving Arbonne but need to use it up)…

I don’t notice a difference with what face products I’m using at the time. The only difference I have noticed is when I went off the pill recently, my acne got alot worse – which is self explainitory really.

I was using the Arbonne primer but to be honest, I don’t really think primber makes much of a difference on my skin.

Thanks

Oily skin is often unmoisturized skin. It may sound counterproductive, but you might want to consider switching to a gentler, more moisturizing soap like Dove or Cetaphil, and a good moisturizer. After you (theoretically) make the switch, I would use a moisturizer made for oily skin, but steer clear of proactiv. Unfortunately I have the opposite problem (dry skin!) so I can’t offer any advice on the best moisturizer.

Asprin masks 1 time a week have done wonders for everyone I know, and are super inexpensive as a bonus!

Also be sure to drink a ton of water. Take your weight and divide it in half, that is the minimum amount of water (in ounces) you should be drinking in a day. Obviously it should be more if you work out, etc.

I’d also switch to a tinted moisturizer/very light foundation for a week or so while your skin adjusts. Heavy foundation is only going to aggravate your acne further.

It will be a process, but I think the end result would be happier, and therefore clearer skin!

My HG foundation for my oily-skinned clients is actually Revlon Colorstay. They make a formula for oily skin, and it is an absolutely great foundation.

there is nothing wrong with proactiv. if you have dry skin then you most likely dont need it… a good mostisterizer from proactiv is the oil free with spf… and they have the daily oil control that works well at absorbing excess oil so ur not as oily during the day… dermalogica has a couple of good moisturizers as well…
