Hello Ladies!
I am trying to decide on purchasing smashbox or makeup forever. I am having a hard time deciding which brand to go with because both of these brands receive so many great reviews on their products. I would love to hear you personal experience or choice! I am thinking of purchasing the trial kits at Sephora.
Smashbox’s trial kit : http://www.sephora.com/complexion-perfection-kit-P292413?skuId=1350073
Makeup Forever starter kit : http://www.sephora.com/hd-complexion-starter-kit-P298102?skuId=1379890
Please feel free to tell me you opinions!
I have oily skin and I wear NC45 at MAC and 350 Caramel for Maybelline. I don’t know if that would help , also i have yellowy undertones.
Than you soo much if you can help!
June 29, 2012 at 5:13 pm #178770I don’t know about the foundations since I’ve not used them (neither come in a shade that works for me). I know there are quite a few fans of MUFE HD, though. (Another advantage is MUFE offers a full-size, 1oz bottle; Smashbox’s is only a 1/2 ounce.)
Primers – I’ve used both. MUFE’s is fairly light in texture, but I’m not in love with it. Smashbox’s has a slightly heavier feel (probably because it has more silicones); I prefer Photofinish Light over regular Photofinish.
Powders – Haven’t used either, but I have some advice on the former. MUFE HD powder is nothing more than pure silica powder; on its own, it’s too expensive for what it is and how much you’re getting (full size is only .3 ounces and it costs over $30; that’s $90+/ounce!). If you buy the MUFE kit and you decide you like the powder, once you run out, get a 1oz jar or bag from Coastal Scents or TKB Trading. Way more product, and it costs a hell of a lot less ($4.75 at Coastal Scents; $3.45 at TKB).
Either way, you’re going to get a trade-off on the last item in the kit. MUFE’s gives you a kabuki brush instead of Smashbox’s offering of a concealer. Never used either.
That all said, if I were going to buy one for myself, I’d lean more in the direction of MUFE because, foundation-wise, they offer more shade choices.
July 1, 2012 at 10:54 am #179022Definitely MUFE. I tried a sample of the smashbox and wasn’t impressed. I have combination skin and it made my skin feel weighed down and cakey. If you are wanting a “high-end” products then go with the MUFE, you wn’t regret it!
