    Hi Makeup Geeks!

I just wanted to share my latest find on here, because this product totally blew me away. I never expected to get this excited about a face powder, but I absolutely love it. It’s the Smashbox Photo Set Pressed Powder:

Lately I’ve been searching for a great touch-up powder to set my foundation and touch up my “shiny spots” throughout the day. I had been using another brand for a while, but it contained shimmer that accentuated the imperfections and fine hairs on my face. So I started looking for a matte alternative.

I’d had my eye on the new BareMinerals Ready Touch Up Veil, and I had a 20% off coupon from Ulta burning a hole in my pocket, so I went to Ulta to sample a few different face powders. I expected to walk out with the BareMinerals, but after checking out the Smashbox powder, I changed my mind.

It is super finely milled, and so, so smooth to the touch. The words “silky” and “buttery” are the only words I can think of to do it justice.

After taking it home and trying it on, I was even more impressed. It applies smoothly and gives a nice “soft focused” look to the skin. It mattifies without taking away the skin’s natural glow. It contains just enough pigment to help cover imperfections. For those of you who use only powder foundation, this is designed for that purpose. Personally, I like to have a little more coverage, so I use this over my concealer and liquid foundation. But it should work great either way.

The packaging is also very durable and convenient. I like that it comes in a pressed powder compact, so it’s easier to apply without using too much. Loose powders can get a little messy over time (at least for me). It’s hard for me to get just the right amount of product out of a loose powder container without wasting a lot of it. With this Smashbox pressed powder, that problem is eliminated. A little of this goes a long way, so this compact should last a long time.

I even found that I didn’t have to use much setting spray on top of it, because it sits on top of the skin well and doesn’t look cakey. I almost like it better than the Diorskin loose powder (I have tried both). It’s easier to get out of the container than the Diorskin, it applies similarly, and it’s much cheaper.

The only thing I didn’t like about it was the puff included in the compact. It’s very thin, and not very soft or…”puffy,” for lack of a better word, haha. I prefer to use a sponge, so I just replaced the puff with a cheap sponge from a Covergirl 3-pack. It fits perfectly.

It comes in four different colors (Fair, Light, Medium, and Dark), and can be bought at Ulta, Sephora, or Amazon for $29.

I highly recommend it, and give it a 5 out of 5.

    :-D

    P.S.

Sorry about the poor quality of the pictures. It was very cloudy and rainy that day, and my kitchen was very poorly lit.
