Ok, I know Marlena has a video and an article about red lips but I still find its rly hard to pick red color!

I am very pale. Most foundation turns out to be to yellow on me and usually too dark also! (if that helps explain my skin color) I have dark hair and brown eyes.

Also in her video she was lining her lips and suddenly she like covered her whole lip with lip liner. I thought liner was to line your lips. Or should you use liner on your lips to prime? Is this only for red?

thats the link to the page of swatches she has up for red lips.
    Thanks! :)

Lipliner is to line your lips, yes, but you can also fill your lips in with lipliner to help your l/s stay on for longer. This works for any colour of lippie, not just red. :)

Anyhoo, I feel ya. I’m also uber-pale (my undertones are more on the neutral-to-yellow side, though; seems like yours are more pink) and in search of my perfect red. I tried a cheap wet’n'wild one (#784, I think? Just from their regular 99ยข line), but it was too much of a raspberry colour. I also have the Revlon Colorburst lipstick in True Red, but I’m not sure that’s a good one for me, either.

the lip liner rly help make it last? Thats a useful tip.

I have pink tones in my skin instead of the olive tones. The revlon one sounds promising and I also want to try nyx snow white.

i adore viva glam 1 by MAC. it’s my ultimate versatile red lippie. If i use it by itself its a somewhat darker red and if i want it to be bright i line and fill in the lips with a bright red pencil and then fill in with lipstick

Love love love VG1, however my HG red (seems I looked forever for it) is MAC Dare You, creamy not matte not shimmery not blue and not orange. A gorgeous dark red that doesn’t go ‘neon’ on you when you blot. BTW I’m very pale with slightly yellow undertones, green hazel eyes, and light brown hair.

Im very pale, brown eyes, brown hair(darker brown) and foundation always looks too yellow so Id say I have pinky undertones.

I think Mac red would look hot with a beet lip liner
Or diva with beet lip liner (Mac as well)

Have you tried a red lipstick with blue undertones? I had a really hard time too. I experimented with less expensive brands, and when I found the right shade, I invested in Dior Rouge Zinnia #743.

I’m pretty pale as well and have pink undertones and I love both Mac VG1 and Pro-longwear lip colour in lasting lust!

Pale, pink undertones here and I adore Snow White by NYX. Even the NYX Deep Red lip pencil looks good enough to wear on it’s own for me.

I like Kat Von D’s Hellbent … it’s a matte blood red and it’s awesome.

I’m NW15 with strong cool undertones (I too find that a lot of foundations look too yellow on me), I have black hair and very dark brown (black-brown) eyes. I really like Lancome Color Design lipstick in Red Stiletto, it’s a nice blue red.

Not sure to go with your colouring but I recently bought Maybelline Colorsensational in Are you Red-dy.. from what I’ve seen of it on me its a really pretty bright red lip colour, although I’m not too sure if it is blue based like what I thought… haha, hope that is not confusing.

I’m really pale with dark brown hair and very light blue eyes, and my all time favourite red is Revlon Superlustrous Matte lipstick in 006 Really Red – its a very blue-based true red, and really nice looking!

As for lipliner, I always use it, because it can prevent red lips from ‘bleeding’, which I always have a problem with. And when I line, I don’t cover my whole lips, I line them and then colour in about a 1/4 of my lips, in the corners – its where it is hardest to get the lipstick if you aren’t using a lipbrush (like if you’re out and about and need a touch up), and it means I don’t worry about getting bare patches in the corners
