I have a pool party that I’ve been invited to, but I don’t know how to do makeup for it. Do any of you have any recommendations for products that are at least somewhat waterproof for a simple look? Preferably drug store products, but stuff available at Sephora is okay too. Thanks in advance!
June 18, 2012 at 12:38 pm #177239A lot of MUFE’s products are waterproof/water-resistant (Mat Velvet+, their aqua creams, their aqua liners (eye and lip), Aqua Smoky Lash). Drugstore-wise, Prestige has waterproof pencil eyeliners and lipliners. Of course, there are also several waterproof mascaras to choose from at the drugstore.

I have the maybelline 24 hour color tattoo collection to try. MAC paintpot, Lime Crime eyeshadow helper, LA Splash eyeshadow sealer & other products as well. And pretty much any mascara I’ve tried that’s been “waterpoof” has done a good job, but I want to try a couple to see which one does the best. Sometimes if there are clumps, the clumps are what usually messes up mascara in the water.
But I just wanna see if it’s possible to keep your face on while playing in the water. I’m re-doing my “blog” now to a beauty blog, but once I get a couple posts up I’ll link it somewhere.
Good luck!
June 19, 2012 at 7:18 pm #177437@shellygrrl – Thanks for the tip about MUFE products! I have the Mat Velvet+ foundation, but I never noticed that little line at the bottom that says “water resistant”. And yeah, the drug stores near where I live almost have more waterproof mascaras than regular… I don’t have Prestige where I live, but I’ll check out some other brands. Thanks for the tips!
@eljae83 – Please do post a link here when you get your blog up and running! I’m interested in the Maybelline Color Tattoo shadows too, and I’ve never heard of the LA Splash sealer… I’ll have to check those out too. Thanks!
June 19, 2012 at 10:00 pm #177440Prestige is available at Rite Aid and Ulta. (Not sure about CVS or Walgreens.)
June 20, 2012 at 10:59 am #177471LA Splash, is also available at Ulta, if you have one nearby.
June 30, 2012 at 2:17 pm #178909I live in a complex that has a giant pool in the center, so I’ve had plenty of time to test water friendly looks! You don’t want a full face of makeup for a pool party, a natural look is the way to go. Fake perfect skin and a tan with mineral makeup. Bare Minerals is my number one in this category, but Maybelline makes mineral powder, blush and bronzer that works well too. It’s only 10$ for a nice size tub and it has SPF 18 which is always needed in the summer. These powders also pass the water test, I swim for hours ate times and they hold up pretty well. I bring a compact with me for touch ups (you def don’t want to cart around the tubs of mineral powder and brushes, way to bulky)
After the powder and a tad bit of bronzer, I would put on a little shimmery eyeshadow in a natural shade (any brand works here really, though that tattoo shadow is supposed to be waterproof, I haven’t tride it yet) and finish up with a waterproof mascara. Maybelline has a new water proof mascara that is a gel which I adore. It’s called Mega Plush volume express waterproof, about 7-8$ the gel prevents any and all clumping while still adding color and length.
Finish with a coral or pink lipgloss, preferably with SPF in it. Cover girl makes some nice ones for around 5$.
So- mineral powder, bronzer, eyeshadow if you wish, waterproof mascara and some gloss. You’ll look flawless yet natural, and none of it will wash away in the heat or water. Have fun!
