I have some bare minerals mineral foundation, my skin is dryer and every time I use mineral foundation it always looks extremely cakey. I have tried mixing it with a finishing spray and it didn’t help.  Anyone have any suggestions? I do use a moisturizer before I start my make up.

    Thanks :-)

I don’t know about Bare Minerals but I have the MAC mineral foundation and it’s supposed to give a natural look (not too matte and not too shiny) so you might want to look at what kind of finish your foundation gives. My MAC makeup gives my skin a beautiful glow and I am in love with it! Also, I’ve heard that people with dry skin should use liquid foundation because they need the added moisture as opposed to those with oily skin (which is what I have) who are better off using minerals because it sops up the oil. You may just be applying it too heavily also. Make sure your apply it in very thin layers on your face so that you avoid caking it on. Mineral makeup is supposed to last you a very long time so the amount you dump in the cap shouldn’t be that much . I usually apply 2 layers or 3 depending on how much coverage I want. Hope this helps :)

Thanks it does help a lot. I don’t apply that much when I use it. I have switched to liquid foundation, but was hoping there was a way I could use up the rest of my Bare Minerals. I love the Bare Minerals Mineral Vale, I use it as a setting powder a lot. I really appreciate the input.

What do you apply it with?  I have found some puffs are better than others about how much they pick up and I try to steer clear of using brushes with my powders as they usually end up throwing the powder everywhere.  I have combo / oily skin so I would love mineral foundation but I would think with dry skin you would maybe only use it as a setting powder over liquid foundation.  That would be my two cents.   Hope you find some way to use it :) .  Good luck!
