I know you all have probably heard so much about these already but I figured it was worth putting up here too. I got 3 colors: Fierce & Tangy, Painted Purple, and Tough as Taupe

They were like $5.84 apiece at WalMart. I LOVE Tough as Taupe (my FAVORITE, which is weird because I’m not usually a neutral girl) and Fierce &Tangy. Their textures are really nice. But I was quite disappointed with Painted Purple, which was weird because I LOVE purples and didn’t expect to dislike it. To apply it evenly, you need a VERY thin layer and then you just have a purple tint which just doesn’t do enough for the purple shadows I’d use on top to justify having that one. I personally wouldn’t use them as shadows, I’d use them as bases for shadows.

Here are swatches. The top row are just shadows with no base. The bottom row is the Maybelline Color Tattoo and next to that is it shown as a base to the shadow on the top row

I did a full review on my blog if anyone is interested in more info or a couple more pictures. But overall get Tough as Taupe, you won’t regret it. If you’re into fun colors grab Fierce & Tangy but I’d skip the Painted Purple.

    I hope that helps someone!!!

I bought the tough as taupe today! I got it half off with a regular maybelline purchase! Can’t go wrong for 3.50! I still have a swatch on my arm.. That was from 6 hours ago! Its crazy! I think I am going to use it more as a base to work up.. But its very pretty for lazy days as well! Seeing the other vibrant shades I want more! Btw, Walgreens is where I got it in case you have one near.. Its buy one get one 50% off.

Wow, after reading this, I just had to try them. Walgreens has them on sale for buy one, get one 50% off. So I got the orange, teal, green, and taupe. I’m a cream eyeshadow junkie, and the glass pots they come in are very high quality. They are identical to the pots that my Benefit cream shadows come in. I LOVE them.

Anyway, I created a blue smoky eye using the Kat von D palette in Beethoven. The color Speed Blue always darkens to more of a bluish black on my skin and doesn’t really “pop,” but with the teal base under it, WOW! The color looked just like it does in the pan. I found that the taupe shade worked for making my silver eyeshadows pop, too. I’ll bet the Pomegranate shade I saw in the store would be great for pink eyeshadows.

These are a steal, and are so fun to play with. Thanks for the great review. :-)

@kimusama22 Thank you! I’m so glad you like them as much as I do!! You’ll have to post some looks using them because now I’m all intrigued to see these combos you speak of!

Oh, I mainly just played with a few color combinations on my arm as swatches. The blue smoky eye is the only look I’ve come up with so far. I’ll have to play with them a little more. And I haven’t quite gotten the hang of photographing myself just yet. I’m still fairly new to all of this. You and the other mavens on here are far more talented than I, haha. But thank you. ;-)

I LOVE these so much more than I thought I would. This is my first dabbling with cream shadows of any kind. My absolute favorites are Pomegranate Punk and Born to Be Bronze. I was too chicken to try the teal or the orange…. but I am dying to try them later.

I want to try this very soon! Can you use this alone or does it crease and you need to use a primer?

Depends on your eyelids, probably. If powder eyeshadows crease on you without primer, then you may need primer with these.

Yeah I do have an oily lids and I use a primer to prevent it from creasing. I’m looking forward to trying the taupe and the bronze shades. I like how it intensifies the color of the shadow if you use this as a base. Thanks for the swatches!

I got Fierce & Tangy and Tough as Taupe a while back when Ulta was having a sale, and I have to agree that they’re pretty awesome. I’d swatched all the colors on my arm first, and those were the ones I liked the best, though the bronze and burgundy shades were pretty too. I wasn’t really impressed with the pigmentation of the blue and purple ones though.

Anyways, since someone was wondering about creasing… if I use a primer first these don’t crease on me, but if I just put them straight on they do crease eventually though not as quickly as most cream shadows do on me.

love them all I wanted to get a few when I heard about them but wasn’t sure if it was just hyped up. After seeing these swatches I’m convinced. They work so good as a base but also as a cream shadow or eyeliner. They remind me of a cheaper version of stila smudge pots.
