Anyone have experience with mattifying products (e.g. MAC Matte, UD Deslick in a Tube)? I’m curious about them, since I have trouble with my T-zone getting super shiny throughout the day… I’m not necessarily looking for another primer, just something that controls oil in that particular area… Thoughts?
February 20, 2012 at 1:56 am #153041I really like the MAC matte gel
I use it as a primer though, so not sure about it just blocking the oil… February 20, 2012 at 2:22 am #153053Thanks, @Marlena! I’ve been thinking of trying it, I know you’ve mentioned it in a couple videos… I’ve been using the POREfessional, which I like, but doesn’t keep the oil at bay for as long as I’d like
Great to hear from you! Loving your shadows
February 20, 2012 at 3:43 pm #153105My MK gal got me their oil mattifier as my forehead and scalp would put OPEC out of business if anyone ever drilled some wells…
Anyway, WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Put it on first, primer over that, foundation, etc. It works REALLY well for me, holds up onstage so my face doesn’t melt off about 2/3rds the way through a performance.February 20, 2012 at 7:01 pm #153134I use MAC’s Skin Refined Zone every day on the t-zone. It works really well especially since I have super oily skin. Most days I use POREfessional on top of that as well. I have also used UD’s Deslick and that seems to work well also but I think MAC’s is better.
February 20, 2012 at 11:08 pm #153196In lieu of a mattifying gel or whatnot, what about just using blotting paper as you need it throughout the day? (e.l.f. sells some for dirt cheap and it works quite well, or you can find some at the drugstore.)
February 20, 2012 at 11:59 pm #153202@Shelly I do carry blotting papers (always!), but it would be nice if I didn’t have to use them as often… Especially when I’m busy at work and can’t step away from the bar to blot! I’ve also been using BB creams during the day, which give me a nice natural finish on the skin, but since they’re moisturizing I can get shiny pretty quicklyh
February 21, 2012 at 1:58 am #153219Are you using a moisturiser before you apply the BB cream?
February 21, 2012 at 10:40 am #153285@Aro Yes, I am… I’ve tried going without, but my skin feels tight and dry when I do… My skin can’t seem to make up its mind lately! I’m sure in the summer it won’t be a problem to skip the moisturizer, but I’ve been drier this winter than I’ve ever been… Yet I still get greasy after a few hours!
February 21, 2012 at 8:02 pm #153413What kind of moisturiser do you use?
February 23, 2012 at 12:35 pm #153671@Aro I’ve been looking into more hydrating ones, but at the moment I’m using Clinique Dramatically Different gel during the day and Neostrata Glycolic Acid smoothing lotion at night… I definitely want a more hydrating one for nighttime, but I also don’t want to break out from it (I generally only get pimples on my chin, hormones I guess)… I also use a serum from Biotherm that boosts the skin’s radiance, but is not for anti-aging
February 23, 2012 at 9:45 pm #153783Admittedly, I’m not a fan of Clinique. Worst reaction I’ve ever had to a skincare product was Clinique. But I’ve read mixed reviews on Clinique Dramatically Different gel, some love it, some find it not moisturising enough (even though they have oily skin), and/or a few hours latter their skin becomes very oily.
I was just wondering if maybe a more hydrating moisturiser might help prevent your skin from getting oily, or at least lessen it to a more manageable level.
I like the hydro/water creams (gel) that Skinfood does, and they do a few different ones. Though, I only use it at night and use just a serum in the morning before applying a BB cream.
Maybe another thing would be to try setting your BB cream with a different powder.
