How did you get started blogging or reviewing.
I watch so many Youtube videos its just unreal. I have in the past few months alone found myself searching for the items I am interested in buying before I do now. It is amazing.
I have just started really playing with looks. Now only if I can get my camera to do me justice. My husband finally talked me into going to MAC and buying the ” Good Stuff” as he is sad at my many disappointments at the drug store.
I am thinking of starting to blog about all the different things I try, so I thought I would ask some of our people who blog or do video tutorials how they got started doing that.
Advice welcome
February 9, 2012 at 8:52 pm #151097I haven’t gotten started with a beauty blog yet, though I do have one in the works at the moment. I have a lot of experience and knowledge with blogging, web design & development, and online marketing, so if you have questions in that respect I might be able to help
February 10, 2012 at 2:32 pm #151261Thanks a ton Aro.
Right now I’m working on building a light box so my pictures turn out better. I can’t seem to get the hang of getting pictures of the products on my face. Could be my face is not good for pictures or my light and settings are not quite right:(
February 10, 2012 at 10:28 pm #151464I’m still trying to figure out how I’m going to do that. My eyes are sensitive to natural light, so it’s pretty much impossible for me to stand outside in the sunlight with my eyes open without squinting like crazy and my eyes watering or looking bloodshot. I’ve tried a few different things, and I realize I don’t have an awesome camera, but I still think with a bit more practice and fooling around with the lighting and I could get better shots than I am.
February 11, 2012 at 2:42 pm #151550I have tried a few things and I am never happy.
I have wrinkly eyelids so shooting up close you cant see much, it just looks really bad. Far away is better, but getting the light good and making sure the colors are as true as they can be is just a pain!
You should try turning to the side or back to the sun, or wait till it has passed just over your house so it is still pretty bright out but the sun is not screaming in your face.
I did buy some natural light bulbs the other day for the lamp over my vanity.. Wonder if that would work. Hmmmmm…
February 11, 2012 at 8:08 pm #151624That doesn’t really make any difference, I’m still in the sunlight. I have natural light bulbs for the two flexi lamps I have clipped to my vanity mirror, using those have gotten me the best result so far, but I’m still having issues trying to capture the vibrancy of the shades.
February 11, 2012 at 9:28 pm #151630I did some google searches on it and read a ton of stuff about changing white balances and all that jazz. I just have not had the patience to sit down and make it work. I end up really irritated after the first bunch fail so I give up for a while.
February 12, 2012 at 7:59 pm #151729I have a blog and I agree, it’s not easy getting good pictures of makeup! I have found that natural light works best for me. I have a 6′ white vinyl privacy fence that reflects light quite well so I don’t have to stand in direct sunlight, the light reflects off my fence and that’s the best way I can figure out how to get pictures haha. I still have to edit my pictures a bit though because my black never looks black enough and if it’s cloudy out forget about it haha, I can’t get a good picture at all!
UniqueDesire on here just built a light box to photograph products and I just saw one picture but it looks awesome! Makes me want to go build one!
February 12, 2012 at 9:00 pm #151761My husband built me a light box using the same link she did. I used it last night to get pictures for my first Haul post on my blog. My light was not quite bright enough, but it still turned out pretty good I though.
I have gotten some really good pictures outside after the sun has passed over my house, but that is about all I can do. Macro shots just do not work for me. I have the worst eyelids. UGH… I have a post on Show Your Face.
February 12, 2012 at 10:47 pm #151770That’s really interesting starryskies, I had always wondered how you get such beautifully lighted photos.
