How do you go about finding a makeup apprenticeship?

I have most of the necessary skills to do beauty makeup, but I lack the confidence to do it by myself, so I want to work as an assistant or in an apprenticeship to get my foot in the door and gain experience.

    This may be helpful: http://www.makeupmentors.com/

Also, doing a search on modelmayhem is good (but really make sure the MUA is professional- look at his/her portfolio)

I’ve been looking to do the same thing and I did contact someone on makeupmentors.com but didn’t find it all that helpful as all they told me was to do some pro-bono work and that there aren’t many opportunities or benefits to apprentice a working artist. I, on the other hand, would find that extremely helpful because I like to watch how things are done and then try it on my own. I also lack the confidence to do it on my own, but the last few months I’ve been able to just jump right in and attended a few photo shoots where all the models, photographers, hair stylists and MUA were all there to build portfolios and no money was exchanged. I do however have some great photos of the work I’ve done thus far and after only 2 shoots I’ve been contacted to do a private shoot where I will be compensated for my work. I think your work is amazing from what I’ve seen and I think you will do great!! Good Luck :)
