I agree on trying Inglot shadows, they are amazing. I love my mac eyeshadows too but you will have issues with some colors with regards to color payoff etc but dont rule out mac completely, they are a good brand for a reason. Do research on other brands and have a selection in your kit, not just one brand.

I just love MAC! its definitely pricey but its good quality stuff. you pay for what you get. I don’t bother with any drugstore brands cause I have very sensitive skin and find them harsher, especially foundations. I also get really frustrated when an eyeshadow/blush is not pigmented enough. So I usually stick to the basics from MAC, since it is so expensive and try not to get too crazy, although it does get addicting buying all their cool products. When I get ready in the morning I use the Studio Sculpt foundation SPF 15, the Mineralize Skinfinish bronzer/blush, the Fluidline Blacktrack to line both my eyes/waterline, their mascaras (I’ve tried Opulash, False Lashes, and Zoom Lash and they are equally amazing, I buy a different one every time to try them out), and the Paints in Stilife (which is a nice beige shimmery color, pretty on a daily basis-as a really good base AND as a underbrow highlighter!). As for the shadows there’s such a huge range of colors that you can pick and choose from according to your complexion. When I wear the MAC eyeshadows, I always put the Stilife Paints underneath and it NEVER creases or even fades! even the morning after a long night out it’ll look like I just put it on!! (i know its bad to leave makeup on overnight..it happens :) ). It always amazes me how long lasting and pigmented the eyeshadows are, plus they last really long for me because you don’t need much (years!)..I also like the Back To MAC bring in 6 empty products and get a free lipstick !

Indeed. *nods* Professional MUAs don’t have just one brand in their kit; they have multiple brands.

MAC may have been the shiznit back in the day, but these days there’s countless brands that do better quality products for less.

I don’t regret buying any of my MAC brushes- I’ve had them for about four years now.

I agree, I really like my mac brushes, don’t regret any of them – that’s a great way to put it.  Another good Mac product is lipsticks, they excel in shades and so many shades and finishes.

I think at least some of the brushes are a good investment. I say “at least some” because there’ve been a few — mainly face brushes — that aren’t well-liked.

I’m new to this site, so I don’t know if there is an option to send messages to other Makeup Geeks. I would love to find out how to apply to get that 40% off card for MAC. I know they’re expensive, but I also know that you get what you pay for in anything you buy. Now, that doesn’t mean that the most expensive brand is the best, but I DO love MAC products. I’m certainly not opposed to grabbing something that grabs my attention at Walmart, but MAC is my favorite!

After trying a few MAC products and being mostly disappointed, I’d say no. Other pan eyeshadow options are Make-Up Geek, Stars Makeup Haven, Coastal Scents Hot Pots and Yaby. All are high quality, well pigmented and way cheaper than MAC.
