Hey Mugs – I just watched Wayne Goss’s video on this petition that Illamasqua is starting to get cosmetic companies to lower their prices in other countries that typically pay 50-100% more for cosmetics than we do here in USA. Link to video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQOJOULywH4 – they have a petition online (http://www.illamasqua.com/fairpriceforbeauty) that you can sign to have them reduce prices in Australia.
What do you guys think about this? I think it’s a great concept and it is definitely giving some ‘buzz’ for Illamasqua
Just watched it myself and signed the petition. Great idea!!!!!
Christine at Temptalia blogged about it today, and Sam from Pixiwoo tweeted the link to Goss’ video about it. (Talking of which, here it is embedded…)
This is something I often bitch about, but it really is very frustrating.
I live in NZ. When it comes to cosmetics I buy almost exclusively from non-NZ sites, in fact the only beauty items I purchase locally are native ingredients for DIY use. I understand that there are additional costs to be met with importing, but when I can buy it on eBay for half the price or less, including shipping, than what it’s being sold for locally, something ain’t right.
I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand it’s certainly brilliant marketing material, but I have to admit that I can’t help but be just a little impressed by the move. It’ll be interesting to see where this goes.
