Quote from Aro: “I’ve been wondering the exact same thing. To begin with I thought it was a username verses real name issue, but it seems more sporadic than that. You can change your real name it in your edit profile options, though why it’s changed without you having done it is bizarre. If you’ve tried changing it and it’s not sticking, so to speak, please tell us. I know I’ve tried changing my email, which at the moment has imported_ at the front of it, and regardless of the fact that it says it’s saved it hasn’t.”
(I can’t figure out how to quote a post properly yet
)My profile is doing that. I try to change my “real name” to my real name (lol) but it just stays with egypt-girl (which isn’t even my username). Also wondering why it doesn’t have my name under my avatar on my posts, same as Sheiky.
December 30, 2011 at 12:13 am #144282I actually did try changing my name in my profile, several times and it just goes back to being lowercase. I also noticed that if I edit my profile without change my name and save the changes it will give an error but it will still edit my profile.
Edit: So, I went into to edit profile and did not actually edit it. I got the error it gives when I save without trying to edit the ‘real name’ option. Here’s the error: There was a problem updating some of your profile information, please try again.
Also, I’m having some issues with the post reply box, the text bounces around while I’m typing. For example I’ll be typing a sentence and randomly end up in the middle of the sentence. I know it sounds weird, but I tried it elsewhere and it only seems to be doing it here.
December 30, 2011 at 12:36 am #144283Also, the edit button keeps randomly disappearing, I noticed that if you double post it will merge the posts but sometimes the edit button is there and other times it isn’t.
Edit: edit button reappeared for this post, but double posted…

What do you mean your profile’s missing? Did you fill out the bio area and now it’s vanished?@egypt.girl
Actually, now you mention it I don’t see anything that allows you to quote someone’s post directly. However, there is a quote option in the little formatting buttons. Your username is egypt.girl, or at least that’s what’s in your profile, I’m guessing the system replaced the fullstop with a hyphen. Or are you saying that that’s not your username at all, and it’s completely different? Actually, I think I am right, I think it’s an issue with the real name thing, because it’s your real name that shows bellow the avvie and not your username. I realize there’s a real name listed in your profile, but I’m guessing there’s some kind of issue/conflict that’s causing the problem.@Sheiky
It would seem as if the issue I’m experiencing with my email and password is also effecting the real name section of the profile. That is a very weird problem to be experiencing with the cursor, I’m not sure what could be causing the issue, but it might be useful for the powers that be to know what browser you’re using, in case this is an issue that’s happening in a specific browser. I’m not sure what to say about the edit button, I can think of a few reasons it might be doing that but have no way to see what the settings are or test my theories. Also, I added blog link to my list. There’s one for Facebook and Twitter, but nothing for people sharing their own beauty blog links.
Edit: love the easy mention plugin, that’s so fraken cool.
December 30, 2011 at 11:08 am #144308I’m using Google Chrome.
December 30, 2011 at 12:42 pm #144317And since the edit button has vanished again…
I don’t think the issue is with the forum, but with my computer going bonkers. I just switched OS systems and having to update some drivers so that’s probably the issue.
December 30, 2011 at 7:21 pm #144349What OS are you using? Drivers shouldn’t effect if the edit button’s there or not.
December 30, 2011 at 7:31 pm #144352Sorry, I should have been more specific, I was talking about the post reply box, but yes it seems the edit button randomly is there and sometimes isn’t. Maybe it only lets you edit a post once?
Also, people will probably not like this suggestion, but it is only a suggestion. It seems that people only come here for the weekly challenge, so would it not make sense to require a certain amount of posts before being able to participate, just to drum up activity.

I agree with this. Many just post their challenge entries and don’t interact with the rest of the boards. That’s pretty sad, IMO.
December 30, 2011 at 11:18 pm #144389Ohhh, I get it now *facepalm* I thought you were meaning something different. The software they’re now using for the forum has an edit time limit for posts, but it can be disabled/changed.
As for the comment on the weekly challenge, I actually agree. I’d like to see it as something which is a members only thing, other than it being nice to see it as a benefit of actually participating in the community I think it makes good business sense. I get that it’s a way to promote the site and encourage people to visit, but the whole point to promotion is not just to get visitors but to convert visitors to actual members because it’s those members who are the ones that add value to the site through their participation, who will promote or recommend the site and its products, and they’re more likely to buy products promoted or sold by the site.
This is basically why I made the comment about wanting to see a post on the actual blog that promotes member content, I think it would be good to see more benefits for those who participate, but I also think that promoting it’s members more is something MUG could do to encourage participation in the community and ultimately would benefit MUG its self.
January 2, 2012 at 6:47 pm #144607I’m back again, lol.
Every time I log out I’m taken to the ‘Chat About Life’ section O.o
January 3, 2012 at 5:47 am #144655It’d be nice to get some kind of icon system so we can tell if we’ve already posted to a thread or not.
January 3, 2012 at 10:50 am #144683Did anyone ever figure out why you can see some members usernames but not others?
January 3, 2012 at 5:51 pm #144870It was an issue with the ‘real names’ section of the profile, as it’s that which is shown bellow a persons avatar. Anyone who tried to change theirs not only ended up with a lowercase version of their username but also lost their name under their avatar.
January 9, 2012 at 12:05 am #145657Can we not edit posts? Also did signatures disappear?
Ixnay on the edit, I see it now.
