I have a difficult time making my eyeshadow last all day. I purchased the Nyx primer but my shadow still disappears. I’ve also purchased the Urban Decay Primer Potion in Champagne but that makes my lids a little too sparkly, especially for the office. Anyone have any advice on the best primer to use that will make the color last but won’t leave my lids sparkling?

ELF Eyelid primr. I have oily lids, and that stuff makes my shadow stay put for ever. Best part is, its only a dollar!

Hello, I recommend the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. It’s a really good primer with no shimmer. Also, if you buy the original formula of the Urban Decay (purple bottle) it has no shimmer to it. For an inexpensive alternative try Palladio eye primer.

I second the elf eye primer.  I guess I have oily lids.  Palladio and Urban Decay just didn’t work for me.  I think like anything else you just have to try a couple and see what works for you.  I found elf primer ($1) at Target and Palladio (around $7) at my neighborhood Sally’s.  I personally would probably suggest trying those two if you can get them locally and if they don’t work then you could try Urban Decay (which I’ve heard is a lot like Palladio or Palladio is a lot like theirs technically I suppose) or Shadow Insurance (I haven’t tried but I’ve heard good things).

Oh I forgot to add, you also may want to look at a base if you are having problems with the colors not being vibrant enough.  I don’t really have a lot of suggestions as I don’t do this personally but I think Stila Prime Pot is the one I hear people speaking of a lot.  I like Maybelline’s Color Tattoos but most of those are shimmer.  Maybe an eye pencil would work.  Palladio makes some that I have heard good things about (think Marlena may have even reviewed them (?)).  NYX also makes some but I have heard that they crease without a primer.  *shrug*  Just some stuff to think about.

I have found that e.l.f. and Pop both work very well.  Pop is certainly more expensive but I like that it goes on a bit dry, although not overly dry.  This means that I don’t have to wait for it to dry before applying eye makeup.  The e.l.f. is more liquidy and I have to wait for it to set before proceeding.  I used Urban Decay Primer Potion eons ago and don’t remember it being all that wonderful.
