I’m going to be going to a week long convention for my direct sales business soon and I’m needing some help. This is the first time I’m going so I’ve been told there’s limited time to “froo-froo” myself from the daytime seminars to the evening awards ceremonies. Looking for a fast and easy day(business casual) to night(semi-formal & formal) look. Thanks!
February 19, 2012 at 1:53 pm #152922Hi Traci i’m not sure what you are used to wearing to work on a daily basis but i find more or heavier eyeliner, a darkened outer v and/or a heavier lipstick usually work to transfer a daytime look in a night look.
For example just use a nice nude or soft brown on the lid and a somewhat darker colour in the crease with mascara and a nude or soft pink lip for the day. You could use eyeliner to emphazise the upper lashes.
And for nightime use a very dark brown or black in the outer v, apply eyeliner if you didn’t do that yet or wing it out or extend to the lower lashes if you already put on a bit of liner. If you like you could even go for a brighter lip like a reddish or darker pink. Oh and its probably wise to check if your concealer, powder or blush need touch ups.HTH
February 20, 2012 at 6:54 pm #153133thanks so much! I’m hoping I can get in and out of the hotel room fast enough. sharing a room with 4 other women. so this will be interesting. Thinking about bringing a small mirror might be beneficial to some all around sanity.
February 21, 2012 at 8:29 am #153237well good luck with that! and indeed bringing your own small mirror might be wise!
February 21, 2012 at 9:17 am #153264My fav trick for transforming a look is the reverse smoky eye. I do mine much like how Marlena does but wing it out a tiny bit more to give a kind of soft winged liner effect. I particularly like doing this with a colour, like say a teal or plum, paired with a brown or nude lid.
February 22, 2012 at 8:16 am #153505Aro’s idea is also very good and i think plums would def. work for a professional look.
February 22, 2012 at 9:24 am #153508thanks! I do have one other question though…would this work even though I wear glasses? It sucks not being able to create some great looks because of them.
February 22, 2012 at 10:10 am #153515Firstly, I meant doing the professional look as a more nude/natural lid, then when you transform it you use the reverse smoky eye but do that piece with a colour rather than sticking to brown, black, or dark greys.
As for glasses, I think it depends on the frame shape and how the lenses makes your eyes look.
February 23, 2012 at 3:02 pm #153721awesome! sounds great…another quick question. seeing as how I don’t have much time in between and there will be(most likely) 4 other women getting ready as well I’m not wanting to have to wash off and reapply. I’ve really only stuck to drugstore makeup but branching out since I’ve noticed some of the foundations just don’t work well for me now that my skin is maturing(only 28 but I’m getting the acne issue later in life. I didn’t break out this bad when I was going through puberty!) okay…so I’m wanting something that’s obviously going to last all day(and night if need be) but is sweat proof and gives a full coverage if possible. i’m hitting ULTA up this weekend to do a small haul(MY FIRST!) so if there’s something there that’s not in drugstores I’m willing to grab it. Thanks so much for all this advice. I never really worried about makeup in HS since I was a tomboy. I’ve just recently gotten to where I care about my appearance(I think it has to do with my job)
