So I’ve been playing around with the idea of getting bangs cut into my hair. I’ve brought it up to my stylist and she’s been a little hesitant because of the fact that I’d have to straighten my bangs everytime I wash my hair. I feel like I could put up with straightening the bangs. I love the blunt bangs that are popular nowadays but I almost never see them on curly hair. Maybe there’s a reason for it. Anybody have experience with thick bangs, or bangs of any kind with curly hair?
Here are examples of what I’m thinking of trying: (the first picture is of me so you can see what my hair texture is)

This is my natural hair texture. So you can get an idea.[/caption]August 11, 2012 at 7:35 pm #185563I had blunt bangs cut into my curls earlier this year, I think it’s a really adorable look for natural curlies. However, I think you’re better off buying clip in bangs from eBay, then you’ll be able to see what you’d look like before getting your hair cut. Especially given that your curl type isn’t even remotely similar to the example photos.
As for the straightening, I think it depends on how often you wash your hair. If you’re someone who insists on washing their hair daily, then I doubt this’ll be a good idea because you’ll probably fry your hair.

would it be possible to see a picture of you with the curly hair and bangs? I don’t know how similar your curls are to mine, but I’ve been trying to find pictures of curly hair with bangs on google images and have found no luck. Which is why the examples I posted are mostly of girls with straight hair.
With regards to the clip in bangs, I almost bought some from a beauty supply store near me and the girls there didn’t recommend them because they said they don’t blend in with your hair very well since they basically sit on top of the hair. Have you tried the clip in bangs before? If so, are there any on ebay that you would recommend?
I typically wash my hair only once or twice a week so I wouldn’t be straightening the hair daily. Thank you for the information!
August 12, 2012 at 4:37 am #185578I don’t have any photos of my hair and have since grown my bangs out. I loved the look, but I had sweaty forehead issues *lol*
I’ve not tried a clip in, I like to leap before I look. I’m not suggesting one as a substitute, but as a way of seeing whether or not you like the way it looks to have straight bangs with your specific curls. Even if it’s not of a quality that’ll blend with your natural hair and go undetected, it should at least give you a far better idea than images alone. You can buy them on eBay for only a couple of dollars.
August 15, 2012 at 11:44 pm #186496My hair is only naturally wavy, but the waves go into my bangs. Styling them all the time gets super annoying, but when I don’t feel like styling them, I just braid them to the side.
I think that if you want bangs, you should try them! :) If it’s too much of a hassle, just grow them out again. I’ve never had a problem with my bangs getting fried from all the heat I use- I guess just because they grow fast enough.
