I received about 150$ for Christmas and was wondering if the Clearisonic Mia was worth the investment? I hear mixed reviews- some saying “Can’t live without!” and some are returning it. I have BIG pores and oily skin…./sigh….does it seem to reduce pore size at all? I would love that. I have acne as well, but very mild and was kind of hoping the Clearisonic would rid me of that also?
All thoughts are welcome

January 17, 2012 at 12:03 am #146891I have wondered the same thing myself. I have found a lot of youtube gurus that have posted a “review” on it, but only had the clarisonic for a few days. So really, the “review” is their first impression, and then I never see a follow up after a month or so to see how they really liked it. Has anybody taken any before/after pictures or know of any good reviews where the product was used for a full month or two first?
January 25, 2012 at 3:26 pm #148433I bought the Clarisonic Mia and used it for almost 2 months before reviewing it. I have been in the beauty industry for 15+ years, so I am well aware that things do not work overnight- any skincare system, product or, in this case, gadget, should be used for a MINIMUM of 4 weeks, but it’s usually more like 6-8 weeks until you’re really seeing the results.
If you want the full details of my trial, you can check it out here:

but in short: The Clarisonic isn’t exactly making false claims, but it’s not necessarily the device that’s creating the results Clarisonic claims. So yes, it may work for you (though I’d make a blanket statement that dry and sensitive skin should skip it) but it’s likely proper cleansing with the aid of a washcloth will get you the same benefits. Like I said, I go into this more in my article, complete with scientific studies as evidence, but personally, after using my Clarisonic for 6 weeks, I had skin so dry and flaky that it was literally cracking- so I returned mine. 3 days after I stopped using Clarisonic, my skin was almost completely healed.
Really, resist the hype & save your money
February 4, 2012 at 8:34 am #149839I love my Clarisonic Mia. I also have big pores, lots of issues with oil and breakouts. on top of the wrinkles that are starting to set in at my age (40-ish). I have psoriasis, so I have a huge problem with dead skin cell buildup, so the Clarisonic has a big job!
I used to just take off my makeup with a towelette, like Neutrogena or an Olay/Loreal cleanser, and that was it. Now I know why I’ve had such problems! My routine now is to take off my makeup with some type of makeup remover cloth (neutrogena, ponds, etc) then use a clarifying cleaner (cetaphil, Boots No. 7) with the clarisonic. The amount of makeup that still comes off my skin turns the brush beige! I really thought the makeup towelettes were doing a good job. Boy was I wrong!
A friend of mine who is a dermatological Nurse Practitioner also recommended it. She did say that the Clarisonic won’t reduce the size of your pores, but it will make them APPEAR smaller.
I would say that if you don’t have sensitive skin, go ahead and buy it, it’s worth it!!!! I’m very happy with the results.
February 8, 2012 at 12:45 am #150497I’ve been using my Mia for over a year and I really love it. I have sensitive, dry, acne-prone skin and it keeps me from having too many flakes. I also have much less blackhead on my nose and almost none on my face after using this for a few months. It also helped reduced (not eliminate) the amount of milia I’d get. My skincare routine is pretty simple and I don’t overcleanse at all or my skin gets unbearably tight, so it’s been great for me.
Not everything will work for everyone, so it’s pretty much a personal thing.
