Hey! I need help finding the best foundation for oily acne-prone skin. I’m looking for something with full coverage and will last through-out the day. I’ve been looking for a while but I need some help!
August 12, 2012 at 11:56 pm #185640IMO, “best” is a very subjective term. What works best for one person may not work well for someone else, and vice versa. We can list our favourites, but ultimately, you have to try a bunch out and see what works best for you.
The other thing you may want to think about is skincare. A good routine will help with oil control (and, by extension, will help whatever foundation you choose last longer) and with keeping the acne at bay.
August 13, 2012 at 1:18 am #185647I have to agree with Shelly, “best” is an extremely subjective term, and good makeup really does begin with good skincare.
August 13, 2012 at 1:31 am #185651Okay, let me rephrase- what foundations would you recommend or have tried and they worked great? I do take care of my skin. I have a routine i follow religiously. But being my age, my hormones are going crazy.
August 13, 2012 at 6:34 am #185671The thing is, you’ve given us next to no information about yourself or what you need let alone want from a foundation. You don’t mention what kind of finish you want, if you need it to be within a particular price range, or even if you have a preference for a specific type (liquid, powder, mineral, mousse, cake, cream or whatever).
As for what I’ve tried and what’s worked, I don’t wear foundation. I prefer BB creams.
I have a hormone imbalance, and the oily skin of a teen hitting puberty with a sledge hammer, but I’m 30yo. The right skincare ritual really can make a world of difference. If it wasn’t for mine, I’d look like a disco ball dipped in grease.
August 13, 2012 at 8:09 am #185693Well, i have oily skin so I obviously want a matte finish. i don’t really have a preference for any type of foundation. My dermatoligist put me on my skin care regamin, and even though it helps control my acne and oil tremendisly, I still have problems. I just natually have a lot of oil.
August 13, 2012 at 9:06 am #185694I have uber oily skin and I prefer a natural to a more subtle dewy look, simply because a person has oily skin doesn’t suddenly limit them to nothing but matte.
If it was the right skincare routine for you, you wouldn’t still have problems.
August 13, 2012 at 9:11 am #185695I prefer matte. There’s nothing I can do to completely control my skin because my hormones are going haywire. Some of us will always have oily skin or acne no matter the skin care because of genetics or hormones.
August 13, 2012 at 11:09 am #185715What skincare routine do you have?
August 13, 2012 at 11:23 am #185720I use a brand called AloePure. They have an oil control system that’s all natural with an Aloevera base. It’s probably the best system I’ve ever used.
August 13, 2012 at 12:13 pm #185735Glad im not the only one that thinks that……
August 13, 2012 at 1:57 pm #185747Skin care aside, have you tried any foundations?
August 13, 2012 at 2:16 pm #185753Yes. I’ve tried MAC, Clinique, Revlon, Covergirl, and Makeup Forever. MAC pro-longwear was good, but a couple of hours later it would get almost cakey-like and real powder. I’ve heard cream foundations were great, but I really want to make sure before I spend anymore money on foundations.
August 13, 2012 at 2:20 pm #185754I have relatively oily skin and I’m having the most luck with Lancome teinte idole. I use the fresh wear as I like less of a matte finish, more just natural. Maybe try a sample of their more full coverage?
August 13, 2012 at 2:38 pm #185755I did like Revlon’s new whipped, it was just a bit heavy for me for simmer. Also, do you use a primer?
