Makeup smearing at eye corners

Postby bloodparrotgirl on Tue Dec 13, 2011 10:30 am

Hello all!
So when I do my smokey eye or put any makeup in the outside corner of my eyes, it seems like after a few hours of wearing the makeup it has "worn off" and i have this dark ring around the corner of my eye. Can anyone tell me why this is happening, and what I can do to maybe stop my makeup from doing that?

Thanks for your help!

Hi bloodparrotgirl!

The only thing I could think of that may help would to but on some kind of eyeshadow primer, apply it not just to your eyelids but around your eye, and it the corner. If your eyeliner is wearing off try setting it with an eyeshadow. Hope that helps you! :)

My eyes do this in the outer corner, its almost like its wet there or sweating or something. But, sorry I haven't found a solution, I just wipe it and keep going. I've tried eye primer on the outer corner right between the lashes I guess is what you would call it, but that didn't work either. It probably has to do with the amount of moisture in that area so I doubt there is much that will help it, sadly. It is rather annoying.

Hey guys thanks so much for your help! I'll try maybe woring on priming that area a little better and see if that helps, but i do prime that area already. Maybe like you said its just the amount of moisture in that area...it just sucks cuz I can't get a good smokey eye going becuz I know its just going to "wash out"...thanks for yur help!

Hi! I have the same problem and the reason is because, although I don´t really notice, my eyes cry (bit by bit) along the day. This also happened to my grandma, so seems to be hereditary. I know it may sound weird, but seems to happen when eyes need more moisture and need to get self-cleaned. This happens to me specially when the weather is windy or very cold outside. Anyway, it can happen at any time. As I said, nobody notices, not even myself, as it is imperceptible, but there it is and it smudges my makeup in the outer corner so I have to retouch at least once or twice a day. Primers help a bit but do not solve the problem I´m afraid, so I have not found anything better yet :-(

So a little update...

I have been trying a new primer, Too Faced's Shadow Insurance. It seems to do the trick, I noticed that it's a little more tacky than UBPP. What I ccouldn't seem to describe in my first post was that my outer corners get oily, it could be the moisture just building up, but it really does seem more oily than anything, and the shadow insurance really seems to help that
Mariagom~I have noticed that my eyes do water more than normal, I have tried to avoid lining my waterline really and that seems to help.
When I do have to line my watelrine i have started using tarte's amazoian clay waterproof liner, and it seems to work really well at staying on as long as i don't use a whole lot. One thing I do need to work on now is replacing my brushes, they really seem to irritate my eyes because I don't think they're soft enough. So if you have any suggestions shoot them my way!!
