Not ALL pinks are created equal!

Postby atomic.cupcake on Wed Dec 07, 2011 10:44 pm

So I have tried a LOT of different hair color brands that are both salon-only as well as stuff you can find in a Sally's Beauty Supply Store. (I don't do box color... never have, never will. That stuff is AWFUL!!!)

So anyway. I'm on the hunt for the PERFECT hot pink! My hair was really liking the Manic Panic Hot Hot Pink, but tonight I tried to switch it up and am using Pravana's Wild Orchid.

Here's a sneak peek of me under the dryer:

And here's the link to follow what I had to say about it on my blog!

I've never used Pravana, but I heard they are one of the best ones to choose if you're going to do a standout color like that. Hope it works out for you!

Did you bleached your hair before doing red color?

Yes, I bleach the roots every 4-6 weeks, depending on how bad the new growth is. Unfortunately, the lower half of my hair had black pigment in it, so it only lifted to an orange shade. I couldn't lift it any lighter without my hair turning to mush, so the ends fade VERY fast. My roots don't need touching up if ever, but the ends need to get touched up every two weeks. I refuse to re-bleach the ends because I don't want to turn my hair to wet noodle consistency LOL.

Thanks! So far the girls in the salon love it. I just wish it was MORE vibrant. I don't think I'll ever be happy with what I use because I think it's just not out there. I want screaming pink hair that hurts to look at LOL.

Edit: Just saw your other post , you're PM trained, so yeah you've used Ink Works, so derp me.

Rusk Scream Color Gels have some pretty colors, never used them so I dunno how well they work and they are semi. I mostly use Goldwell and PM at my salon. Goldwell has Elumen Pink, have you tried it?

LOL it's all good. ;)

I honestly am not terribly crazy about Ink Works. While it lasts for a while, it's just not as vibrant as I'd like it to be. I also haven't had much time to frankenbatch colors together, so that may be the issue.

I honestly have not tried anything from Goldwell... I know, *hands head in shame*, bad stylist LOL.

I think Ink Works could be brighter also. I used the Goldwell Elumen Green once and liked it, it seemed to wash out pretty fast, but this was WAY back when they first started making those. And I hear good things about it now.

Have you tried a brand called Fudge? I loooooved their stuff and couldn't find it for the longest time, but after some digging found it on Amazon. I'm hoping they didn't change the formula because I'm buying a bottle! (or ten LOL)

I haven't heard of it, I'll look it up. I can't go wild with my hair anymore because I put relaxers in my hair and at one point I was bleaching and doing relaxers both on my hair and I bet you know what happened then, lol. Sad.

Oh! Today at CosmoProf I saw CHI Chromashine in pure pink, it looked pretty bright, have you tried it?
