My very own vanity!!

Sorry, needed to gush to people who get it... My boyfriend and his buddy just finished installing the lights and mirror for my new vanity desk (they are now playing football on playstation) and I am SUPER EXCITED!! Never thought I'd be able to have one cuz of space issues, and then i decided, why not use the office desk that's just sitting there collecting dust? We got it from IKEA so that I could do my schoolwork, but I've never felt inclined to do work there for some reason... Anyway, it was a bit complicated because of the dimensions of the desk, but it's done and I actually got it looking the way I wanted! I will post pics as soon as I can take a decent one (too dark right now), but I figured you guys would appreciate my delight!

congratulations!! I want a vanity myself too but I'm really picky and Alaska doesn't have too much selection without driving an hour away and it's all snowy and winter right now so it's not really an option BUT I'M EXCITED FOR YOU! ENJOY IT! pictures when you can!

I agree, I feel like everything's so accessible now, even though some of my stuff is in drawers, I feel like I'm more likely to browse thru what I have to try something new (instead of doing the same old all the time!)... Nice to have everything at my fingertips!

Haha thanks, but it definitely did not come this way! The desk is actually a corner office desk from IKEA that I've had for a while but was never using... Then I decided to turn it into a vanity, but the concept was a little tricky: we had to mount the vanity bars and mirror onto separate boards and attach them to the desk (the mirror has a hinge at the top so you can swing it out because there's space behind that I will eventually use for more storage), and then wire everything together and add a plug, which I plugged into a power bar that's taped to the underside of the desk surface (so I can switch the lights on and off separately from other stuff)... So it took a bit of work, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out (and of course had fun shopping for accessories to put everything in)! My boyfriend is happy that my makeup is no longer in the living room and I finally have a place for all my stuff, including my jewelry!

Haha. Right? My boyfriend complains about my makeup and brushes and things being all over the bathroom. Perhaps I can use this as a convincing method for him, too. Hahaha.
