What's your favorite scary movie?

Postby starryskies214 on Wed Oct 27, 2010 10:37 pm

Haha, not to sound like "Scream" but I was wondering what are some scary movies that you all like. Since right now, at nighttime basically all I can find on t.v. are scary movies, I'm wondering which ones I should watch. I'll be honest, scary movies (especially those based on true events) freak me out a bit and I have to finish watching the movie to make sure something happens to the bad guy otherwise I can't sleep haha. So, what's your favorite scary movie?
My attempt at a blog haha, check it out:

Haha... I have been watching the scary movies on tv as well lately. Honestly, I can't think of any that I found to be truly scary. Hostel and Saw both freaked me out, as well as Last House on the Left.

I can tell you though, don't waste your time watching The Happening or Dead Silence. They suck!!! Lol. I wish I could get those 3 hours of my life back.

Oooo! Good post! I love good scary movies, which are slightly few and far between.... 4th kind (omg! so freaky/ good), 13 Ghosts (jumpy freaky), and The Haunting (classic, oldie scary feel). Those are probably my fav 3 scary movies of all time! I highly recommend watching all, lol!

The Paranormal activity films 1 and 2 have really spooked me out and are genuinely frightening.. as this is the key word ... thiers a Frightening film or a Scary film! .. scary is to the point of making you scream and say jump etc but Frightening is more evil to the point of disturbing and honestly embedding a fear in your mind.

some of the most frightening films id say that ive seen are

Texas chainsaw massacre .. Wolf creek .. The Exorsisme of Emily Rose

Def Exorcism of Emily Rose. I somehow conviced hubby to go to the theater and watch it with me. He HATES scary movies but I love them and can handle them with no problem. That one however was a different story. I had my eyes and ears covered for a majority of the movie in the theater and hubby was cursing me out.

I couldn't sleep for months. I had to have the lights on at all times. I woke up at 3AM every morning for MONTHS. I saw it once and wouldn't dare to watch it again. F-R-E-A-K-Y!

My all time favourite scary movie is Paranormal Activity 2. I have never been so scared in my life. I had a hard time sleeping the night that I saw it. Usually I'm pretty good with scary movies.. just tend to jump a lot. But, I must've screamed at least 5 times when I saw Paranormal Activity 2 in theatres. Another movie I really like is the old Amityville Horror movie (I think it came out in the 80's), it's not super scary but it's good. And finally, another favourite of mine is The Messengers. Once again, it's not super scary.. more suspense then anything... but it's good! HTH!

I haven't found any that have scared me that much. I LOVE the Saw movies but those aren't scary to me, can't wait until the new one comes out! The Grudge, Last House on the Left, Hostel, Silent Hill (the game is worse, haha), The Haunting, and you can't go wrong with Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, Nighmare on Elm Street, Friday the Thirteenth...

Haha, honestly I get scared if I know a movie is supposed to be scary and then after it's over, I decide if I really thought it was scary. I just watched Shutter Island and I thought it was supposed to be scary so the whole movie, I was waiting for something really scary to happen. I liked the movie but it wasn't scary

I love Saw 2 (that one's the best, in my opinion). I saw Last House on the Left... yeah...

I haven't seen any of those so I guess I have some movie watching to do!

I haven't seen the Paranormal activity movies and honestly, I'm a little afraid to haha! And that Wolf Creek makes me not want to go to Australia and do any sightseeing outside of a major city! Him with the "head on a stick" just grossed me out

I saw this and it freaked me out, I think it's because it could happen to anyone. That one line she says, the "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, treats or tricks I give you tricks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6...." haunted me.

I saw the newer Amityville Horror (Ryan Reynolds, hello!) and it was pretty scary, is the old one better?

What you will find is that if the movie is based on true events then it takes a very different approach as your mind takes in the fact that not only can this happen .. it actually DID hapen and thats where the line in crossed

for example .. hellraiser ... yes scary movie but thiers never anyone called Pinhead or likely to be him .
whereas ... Wolf creek ... was based around events that happened in that kind of depiction and now the fear becomes very real

the same with the Paranormal activity films .. yes its acting but you mind belives its for real as the weegeboard is real etc ....... and its been fact filed that evil spirts can come when used

For disturbing and forbidden films you have hit the nail on head ... as this film the chuckie character was blamed for the death of James bulger ... if you dont know many years ago two 10 yrs old boys took a 4 yr old boy to some trian tracks and tortured him him then left him on the rails to be killed by a train and sadly he was.

it was a very big case here in England and still provokes emotions as it was claimed in court the boys were copying the character Chucky in all thier actions ... sure what are 10yr old doing being allowed to watch it .. but the film became the hate target of many people and was never seen in the same light as the so called puppet horror that is was casted as. .. a very sad outcome to a young boys life

I guess this is a sign of me being quite disturbed, but I really liked that movie, I felt I could relate to her. Although I do not believe she was posessed, but had some other problems. I have suffered some similar events, but I'm not posessed... I think... I'm pretty sure! Anyhow, I thought that movie was cute! ^^

I generally feel that way about scary movies though, the hollywood horror thing with stuff jumping out and there being a loud noise that makes you jump, that just makes me giggle, it doesn't scare me. I enjoy japanese horror more overall, dark water(the original, not the remake), ringu... My all time favorite scary movie has to be the Silent Hill movie though. I loved the games, I love the ideas, I love the monsters.

Pinhead wasn't always like that. The evil comes from that box and if you can summon evil spirits by calling them, then it's not far fetched to have a puzzle cube like that opens portals to dark places. ^^

im sure the exorcism of Emily rose was based on a true to life account if she was genunely demonised i dont know ..... but if im right emily kept a dairy of her events while she was living with the inner demon, and in it she is said to of wrote that she had an outer body experience where the "Angels of the Mons" had called her to come with them but she decided not too. if this is correct then it sure does get your mind thinking about the otherside of life so to speak, as the film was just so intense and very disturbing.
