I want orange hair!

Postby Marinka on Fri Dec 09, 2011 3:43 pm

Hi everyone!
Does anyone got orange hair without bleaching? I want to get an orange hair without bleaching. Is that possible? Are there any professional hair stylist on this site? Did anyone used Paul Mitchel the color products? I like that orange but I don't know if I'll get such bright color on my hair. So I'd like to hear any advice. Here's my natural hair color.

Hey there!

Is this totally natural, no hair dyes whatsoever? (Even on the ends, grown out?)

I am Paul Mitchell trained and I absolutely LOVE their color line.

You can definitely get away with 7OR in the color line and then do an Ink Works orange overlay to really punch it up.

It won't be orange like LeeLoo from The Fifth Element (her hair was bleached out), but it will be a pretty ginger color :)

Thanks for your reply. Well its almost my natural color, I've used Matrix Color Sync ( red copper ) couple month ago and it almost washed out from my hair. So which color activator should I use? I know there are three of them 20, 30 and 40 vol. And what if I'll add a bit of orange color shot? Will it work for me?

Your best bet would be to use a 20 volume since you have pigment on the rest of your hair, unless you wanted to do a quick soap cap just to loosen that pigment up. Depending on how the hair looks after that, you could do a mix of 20 & 30, but I wouldn't recommend any higher. You can definitely add the orange color shot, but remember that whatever your color looks like will fade pretty fast since that's just pure pigment and will only be sitting on the outside of the hair shaft.

Do you have pictures of the type of orange you'd like your hair to be? You might even be able to mix a 6R in with it, depending on what you want your hair to look like...

I'm thinking if you want it that bright of an orange, you don't have a choice but to bleach your hair first.
Now you're all gone, got your makeup on, and you're not coming back

Yea... to go that bright, you'd have to bleach it. Not much, mind you. It won't have to get to white... but you'd definitely have to lighten it up.

Oh...I see. Guess I have to leave this idea. I don't wanna bleach my hair at all. Its pretty healthy and I don't wanna damage it with bleaching.

What you can do which is tedious is boil cammomile tea and squeeze a lemon it in and put in your hair like a rinse and sit in the sun thats a natural way you can bleach your hair. Do note that it will be kinda sticky because of the lemon but you can rinse that out with one tablespoon apple cider vinegar and 2 cups of water. If your hair in kinda dry I would use any morrocan hair oil
