This primer is super smooth but doesn’t slide too much- it’s very similar to the Too Faced one but has a slight smell (this is the only reason that it’s not my top pick).  Otherwise it works really well in priming the face!  It has a slight color to it, so it helps hide imperfections and works for every skin type.

Clinique Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector

This primer was one of my first ones I started using as I have problems with pores on my cheeks.   I love using this primer as it does an amazing job at filling in the pores without clogging them.   It isn’t as smooth as the benefit primer, so this will work well on oily skin as it has more of a matte finish.

Best for:  Combination to oily skin;   Those with large pores

MAC Mattifying Gel

If you have oily or shiny skin and need a primer that will give a matte finish, this MAC one is amazing!  It has a gel like consistency (which usually means it slides too much), but this one stays put and dries to a very soft yet matte finish.  Since it is so smooth and is clear in color, it should work for everyone.

Best for:  Any skin type looking for matte finish

Palladio Herbal Face Primer

This is another gel like primer that not only preps the face, but slightly moisturizes.   It glides very easily, so I  use this under the eyes where my concealer tends to cake up.  The price is the best selling point with this one as it’s only $12 compared to around $20-30 that most other companies charge. Because it is somewhat slick, I do not recommend this one for oily skin- it works best for dry skin.

Best for:  Combination to Dry Skin;  Mature Skin

Too Faced Primed and Poreless Skin Smoothing Face Primer

If I had to choose just one primer to wear daily, it would be this one.  The creamy formula is super smooth but not slick, plus it feels amazing on the skin!  Because it has a slight color, it also helps to camouflage any flaws.  It doesn’t fill in pores quite as well as the Clinique one, but it gives a more satin finish vs just a matte one.  The price is also better for the amount you get (Benefit’s is $29 for .75 oz while this is $30 for 1 oz)

This bronzey gold color can we worn at day or night.  Apply a light wash all over the lid for a perfect daytime look, or pair with a dark purple or black to create a dramatic night time look.  I love this one as it’s so versatile!

This color is so unique!  It’s a deep raspberry pink with flecks of gold- such a fun color for the weekend.  I pair this up with Cocoa Bear to tone down the bright color.

Bitter

It is a sheer Mountain Dew colored wash. It’s one to be creative with as it’s such a bright color, but it’s such a fun eyeshadow to play with! A unique combo with this is a dark purple (like green and purple grapes )

Another great purple color is Hepcat- it’s a violet slightly shimmery color that looks amazing on brown eyes!  (actually any eye color could rock this one )  It’s one of my favorite eyeshadows from MAC as it’s not too bright, but still is pigmented.

Rule

My favorite finishes for eyeshadows are matte as they blend so smoothly and don’t emphasize any wrinkles (yay for getting older! *cough cough*)  This matte orange color looks great on the lid paired up with a brown for a fall look, or with pink and yellow for a fun flower look, or with purple for a funky club look.  It’s more versatile than you would think!

This is a gorgeous, warm-toned purple color in a matte finish.  I love this one for applying all over the lid with a black smudged alone the lashline for a date night look.  The rich violet-plum color is flattering on all skin tones and the matte finish doesn’t make your eyes look like a purple disco ball….

MAC Deep Purple Pigment

This is one of my favorite MAC pigments as it’s a shimmery deep purple that looks great for a dark smoky eye since it is so dark and sultry.  I pack this all over the lid and blend the crease out with a nude brown color.  Add some lashes or good 2 coats of mascara and you have an instant sexy purple look!

Ben Nye Amethyst

If you want a royal purple color that makes your eyes really pop, this Ben Nye pigment is perfect!  This is my favorite on this list as it is so richly pigmented and deep in color.

Urban Decay- Ransom

This is such a unique color- a deep blueish purple color that really makes brown eyes pop!  I love the shimmery texture to it- it looks amazing all over the lid with a pinkish purple color in the crease.

Similar to the infamous #92 purple, this #160 is a warm dark purple that looks great on the outer part of the eye or smudged along the lashline.  I love the silky smooth formula and the matte finish- is blends extremely well and is super pigmented!

Inglot Matte 37

I just recently discovered the Inglot brand, and I have to say that I’m impressed with their price and quality!  This matte finish periwinkle color is richly pigmented, smooth, and easy to blend.  It’s a very unique color!

NYX Violetta

NYX is known for having great prices on their eyeshadows- their Violetta color is similar to MAC’s Creme de Violet but 1/3 the price.  I use this as a blending color in the crease with a dark purple on the lid for a gorgeous deep purple smoky eye.

Sugar Pill Poison Plum

This new brand has some amazingly pigmented eyeshadows- this purple one being my favorite!  It’s almost an exact dupe for the Makeup Forever #92 which is a rich matte purple color.  This looks beautiful when paired with a light teal or orange or even gold.

Here I have listed my favorite thickening mascaras, and what to look for when trying to achieve those luscious thick lashes…

Mascaras that are meant to thicken lashes have one defining factor:  the wand.  The wand is usually a thicker brush with dense bristles that can pack on a lot of product without clumping the lashes.  You want to look for a wand that is a brush (not a plastic like comb) that has a thicker amount of bristles like these ones below:

Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara

I love this mascara as it truly DOES have a big fatty wand.  Since the wand is so huge, it gets right in those lashes to apply a fair amount of mascara- making them look thick and full.  If you have shorter lashes and/or smaller eyes though, this wand may be a bit too big.   Also, the price is a bit steep for mascara but it truly does thicken the lashes really well.

MAC Opulash

I’ll be honest:  I’ve never really liked MAC’s mascaras at all.  This one however is a keeper!  I like the wand on this one as it’s not to big or too small- it’s just right   It thickens my lashes well and doesn’t clump.  Price is in a moderate price range as well.

d.j.v. Fiberwig

Made popular in Japan, this mascara uses teeny tiny fibers to make the lashes look uber thick.  It has very small fibers mixed in with the mascara that stick to the lashes when you apply (don’t worry, they don’t come off and land in your eyes).  You do need to scrape off the excess on the end of the tube to prevent clumping though…  This one is pricey also, but worth it as it thickens and darkens the lashes extremely well.

Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black

This one has been my go to mascara for years now!  Is inexpensive, available at most stores, and thickens the lashes really well!  The carbon black formula is my favorite as it’s super dark which makes my lashes really stand out.  The brush on this one is average size- not so large to where those with shorter lashes would have a hard time.

Tarte Lights, Cameras, Lashes

This is my newest favorite mascara that I’m currently wearing.  I bought this one as it supposedly thickens your lashes by 424%.  Whether that’s the case or not, it’s still a pretty good mascara.  The wand on this one is smaller than I am used to, but it’s perfect for reaching my lower lashes.  I’ve been trying to use more Tarte products lately as they aim for using more natural ingredients- always a plus!

My favorite color is the topaz one- I haven’t found a nude colored eyeliner (most are white).  I use this in the waterline to brighten my eyes and make them look bigger.

What it is:
Extremely smooth eye pencil with the application and feel of a liquid liner.

Why I Like It:

These eyeliners are not only very inexpensive, but work really well! They are super pigmented and glide easily- they compare to the UD 24/7 eyeliners.  The only downside is there’s just a few colors…

What is it:
L’Oreal’s first chrome eyeliner for bold definition, with a striking metallic effect.

Why I Like It:

MAC Fluidline

What it is:
An ultra smooth gel liner that can be applied to the waterline or along the lashline for a beautiful pop of color.

Why I Like It:

Although I like the Bobbi Brown ones better, these gel liners aren’t bad. They apply easily and are very creamy.  My only complaint is that they dry out more quickly than the Bobbi Brown ones…

Palladio Eye Ink

What it is:
A portable, fine tipped liquid liner that comes in 6 different colors.

Why I Like It:

Unlike most liquid liners, the brush isn’t very pointed to get that precise line.  Also, these you don’t have to dip the brush in the liquid, making it much easier to handle. You just shake, then apply.

What it is:
A pigmented, shimmery liquid liner that comes in 9 amazing shades.

Why I Like It:

What it is:

Why I Like It:

These glitter liners are great for a night on the town  OR during the day.  The glitter isn’t too over the top as it has hints of color and can be applied sheer if you want. Plus you can’t beat the price!

Finding the perfect concealer is like finding the perfect man- you never know when you’re going to find it, and when you do, you hold onto it for life!

After trying out almost every concealer known to man, I’ve narrowed my favorites down to just 5!  Here they are in no particular order…

Eve Pearl Salmon Concealer

This concealer is best for under the eyes as it has a gel-like consistency.  It doesn’t cake up, yet is pigmented enough to cover the darkest of undereye circles.  (The color I have is “tan”)  I apply this under my foundation in a thin layer (watch my Flawless Face Video to see how I apply it)

Peter Thomas Roth Un Wrinkle Concealer

This concealer is great for brightening up the undereye area! It is super smooth, doesn’t cake up, yet covers really well.  Since it doesn’t have that orange/peach color like the Eve Pearl Concealer, it is best applied on top of the foundation just for that extra coverage.  If you want to hide blueness under the eyes, go with the Eve Pearl  (I use both this and the Salmon Concealer for under the eyes)

MAC Studio Finish Concealer

This concealer is best for blemishes as it has a thick consistency and covers well.  I don’t recommend using this under the eyes as it will tend to look cakey.  The trick for this one is to apply a little at a time in thin layers.

Make Up For Ever Camouflage Cream

This is another great concealer for hiding those blemishes!  The consistency is similar to the MAC one but isn’t quite as thick.  I used to use this under the eyes, but I find that it can cake up as it doesn’t have the gel like consistency.   But if you need a good concealer for blemishes or scars, this one is great!

Coastal Scents Camo Quad

This is a great inexpensive concealer that covers well and doesn’t feel cakey.  The 4 colors are great if you want to custom blend to get the perfect match for your skin.

I like this one as an almost nude color- the pale peach color warms up the lips but doesn’t make you look ashen.  This is a pro only color (I hate how MAC does that!), but if you can find it, it’s my favorite peach lipstick!
