Overall Opinion:
I absolutely love this palette! I loved the liquid eyeshadows when they first came out, and I must say I wish they came up with this palette sooner as I love all the colors! My favorite is the gold one as it’s hard to get that metallic gold look with traditional powder eyeshadows.
This palette is easy to use as the shadows are creamy but not greasy feeling. If you have oily lids though, you may need a primer underneath to prevent creasing. My only complaint is the container is bulky for what it is, but other than that it’s a great product!

Any dupes for this? Or just something close to those colors? This is way out of my I-just-graduated-college-and-can’t-find-a-job price range. lol. Thanks!
For a similar look- albeit a totally different texture and application, you could try Kryolan Metallic Aqua colors. I don’t think they’re quite as multi-use, but at around $7 to $10 they’re much more reasonably priced. The Kryolan shades are different in that, first of all, they’re water activated, but because of this, they dry down and become water resistant- meaning they’re virtually crease proof. If you’re solely looking to the liquid metals as eyeshadows/bases, you’d probably be fine w/ the aqua colors. Kryolan and Ben Nye both also make metallic cream color wheels, which seem like they’d be more similar in texture to the liquid metal. I’ve never used them myself, but they’re very reasonably priced also. BTW, Kryolan actually developed Illamasqua, so…
I really like the option of foiling a pigment better than this! But, it is always good to have options!
one question….. if you apply them under a powder eye shadow, will it look less pigmented, cos y really have oily lids and everything creases with or without primer…. i jut need that powder e/s to set them… what do you think??
where are the swatches? This is hardly a review without some………..
It seems kind of pricey for cream shadows. They almost never work for me anyways
I have loads of metallics from Aromaleigh’s Elemental Lustres line that are probably close shades so I’d probably skip past this baby.
the liquid metals are actually meant to be a multi-use product (highlighter, body, lips, even hair…) Still not cheap though
hey how are you???? when are you doing a new tutorial???? when i copy your looks my friends love them and always ask me about it, and i always recommend to watch you!!! Good luck! Your Mug from Ecuador!!!
WOW! Those are super pretty I love them. They are a little pricey though. Ouch! 42.50 and you only get 4 shades. Any chance the price will go down? I love those colors. Can you swatch them and post it up?
Illamasqua does occasionally do sales, but the liquid metals are really popular so I don’t know if they’ll be around long enough. The company itself does offer a professional discount if you happen to be one, and they also carry the liquid metals in larger, single shade containers, though I *think* at least one shade in this compact is a limited edition (could be wrong there…)
Hey beautiful vibrant colors! Has anyone tried the ELF ( eyeslipsface.com ) products? They are super cheap and I was wondering if it was worth a try. Love to know what you guys think
thanks for this! i LOVE illamasqua, one of my favorite lines, and have been wanting to try the liquid metals SO BADLY. really appreciate the review!
Will there be a tut featuring this?
Oh my gosh, I love this quad! Well, I love the silver and the steel colors–I’m not much a fan of gold and copper colors as they loo really awkward with my skin tone. I love, love, love the gunmetal color, though. I would definitely buy this, well, if I had a job and if the economy wasn’t so suckish, haha. It is a bit on the pricey side, though. Thanks for the review! I hope to see some looks with these soon.
although some people dont like cream shadows(i am one ) these ones are gorgeous and as long as you prime first and set with a mac pigment for example these colours turn out super vibrant. definitly liquad metal ! sooo pigmented
