In the search to find more palettes that are reasonably priced, I came across the 78 palette by Coastal Scents. It is similar to the already popular 88 palette, but has blushes also

They describe it as…
“Highly pigmented shades , all shadows can also be applied wet for a deeper longer lasting effect. The compact case makes it easy for storing and traveling.”
Advantages
- Many eyeshadow colors to choose from
- Various blush colors to choose from
- Perfect for traveling as blushes and eyeshadows are together
- Good price!
Disadvantages
- The eyeshadows need a good base underneath to prevent fading
Overall Opinion
I am really impressed with the palette especially for the price! My favorite part though is the blushes- they are smooth, apply easily, and are really pretty (my favorite is the brighter pink one of course!)

Oh thank you, Marlena! I have only every used basic products and have really been wanted to branch out with new eye looks. I have been watching your tutorials and some others as well. Think I have researched my brush dilemma (with help from your forum). And this helps me with my key ingredients–THE EYESHADOW! I really would like to achieve a level of skill before I dump out too much money.

Which pallett is this one? Is it the Version 2 or just the regular one? The blushes look different on the website.

most of my shadows are M.a.c. ..i just wanna ask u if u prefer M.A.C or urban decay , coz i found the U.D is very pigmented and blend easily ..
plus i wanna ask u which foundations are the best for bridal or long wear make up ..i don’t mind the price as long as it is good quality…

i just wana complain from coastal scents service.im very disapointed!i’ve been waiting for my brushes for 5 months now.i guess i ll never get them.cant get back my money too, becaouse they r “not responsible”.anyway…i just didnt expect such attitude.in my opinion they dont really care for customers.

My 78 palette just arrived yesterday and I love it! It took less than a week to come. I am using it with TFSI and it does work great.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to add that if you buy from Coastal Scents, you should pick up their eye primer as well. It’s cheaper than other eye primers, and comes in a little tub with a twist off lid so you can actually GET the product (unlike UDPP). It works absolutely FANTASTICALLY, read the reviews on it. It’s only about $12 dollars and I think it works better than MAC Paint Pots or UDPP.

Just so everyone knows, Stars Makeup Haven (www.starsmakeuphaven.com) also sells the 78 palette and the 88 shimmer palette for cheaper than Coastal Scents. Also for you international customers, Stars Makeup Haven’s shipping is cheaper than Coastal Scents. I ordered from CS and paid the cheapest shipping for Canada but still ended up paying again to the delivery guy when my stuff came.

Can you review the new Bobbi Brown Eye Brights palette and show how to use it for office wear? I would love some ideas that would allow me to give a little modern colour playfulness to my classic office brown/greys eyeshadow looks while still being office appropriate (think lawyer/finance wearing suit gal who would love to add some zing to her pinstrip suit look).

please help…I am Canadian and am just hearing about this brand. I’m wondering ; what is the quality of these shadows? Are they comparable to Mac? If not, what brand would you compare them to, a drug store brand? Why are these better than , say a Revlon or a Loreal or any less expenssive brand.
Needless to say, I’m worried about ordering these as it would be a pain to return but I sure like the price. Any comments would be helpful!!

Although I agree with Marlena that this palette provides lots of color options, the shadows are not a highly pigmented as previously stated on african american skin. I am a medium brown colored woman and have found that it takes longer to achieve the color combinations with the coastal scents eyeshadows vs. MAC eyeshadows. I think I will stick with MAC for the bulk of my looks.

Two years ago I was on EBay looking this product over and well I never got around to buying it. Now that I have read your review (with much appreciation) I will. I’m sssooo into the pigmented look!
The major reason I was hesitant was because I feared the colors wouldn’t offer that POP I enjoy so much.

about a year ago i bought i really great palette by the color workshop it is wonderful it contains a mirror, 64 eye shadows, 32 lip glosses, 10 foundations and blush,multiple brushes for foundation eyeshadow etc.. and it has 2 eyeliners and 2 lipliners and a sharpener. it is really great you should definitly review it. its very practical size wise.. 15×20cm

I bought this palette several weeks agos I like it because of the blushes, the eyeshadow colors are very similar to the 88 palette eyeshadow, but it is well worth buying.
Hi…I want to thank you for all of your tutorials I really enjoy them and I have learned alot. N E way I bought several coastal scents products (88 pallet, Black gel liner,angle eyeliner brush amoung other brushes and the blush pallet)…I love everything I use Urban Decay eyeshadow primer It seems to work really well..what do you think about it? I love to get more for my money are there any other sources you recommend? Im a new make up artist I have mainly learned on my own and watching you really expanded my skills I love it!!! I just got that from eBay yesterday!!! how weird. I was scared the colors would be too sheer, but so far I like it. Haven’t looked too closely. Don’t ya think the sizes are a little small though? I really like the blushes the most.
I am very dissapointed with this palette. Is very very small, isn’t like the picture. Also, i am in Italy and i havd to pay 75€ for international sanity and 20€ to fedex plus that i had to pay before (45). Be careful girls
My friend ordered these eyeshadows in the 240 palette and we were just checking them out. I honestly think the eyeshadow colors in this palette are great but the quality is not. The colors dont last very long even with primer and its gross how badly they stain ANYTHING they get on. Seriously I swatched a few on my fingers and had to scrub with soap to get it off. There seems to be some odd ingredient in the makeup that makes it stick-wayy too much. Almost reminded me of those pastel crayons we used to use in grade school that they told you not to get on your fingers because they wouldn’t come off. The pigment is good, ive seen much better but the staining to me is just gross and creepy. MAC just seems safer to me. You get what you pay for with this palette.
I just order the 88 shimmer palette. When you get the palette the eyeshadows were the size of dimes (which I lalready knew). I did by the painterly pot the other day by MAC and was really happy when I put the eyeshadows over this base. I’m not into the matte look which they do have matte colors for the palette. I was worried that if I did swatch the shadows on my hand that the shadow would stick to my hand. Within seconds the shadow came off and for me I didn’t really have to scrub the shadow away.
I would like to know the name of the eye primer you showed on your video? I recall you said it can be purchased on Sephora, ebay, etc. but I don’t know the name and there are numerious. Please advise.

This is a good palette. I like about 10 colors out of the palette because I dont think this makeup goes on well on African American skin. So if your a woman of color kinda be leary. Get the 88 color palette. I heard that works a little better.

hi, i was reading the messeges that other fans leave u, and i read that a girl never got her order. I personally HATE ORDERING STUFF!!! Two reasons: #1 i hate paying extra for the shipping #2 i hate waiting!!! i like to get my things right there n then. So is there any palettes at stores that i can buy that are not too pricie?

oh girls, i know that some of u live far far away from the U.S. n are worried that some of the stuff u buy online will never get delivered. I’m the same way. i personally HATE TO ORDER STUFF! Well i have a suggestion, during christmas season they always sell palletes that have lots of eyeshadows n stuff; different sizes too. like at wal- mart or drug stores but i will warn u THAT SOME EYESHADOWS’ QUALITY CANT BE THAT GOOD… LIKE THIS PALLETTES ABOVE. but what i do is add water to ur lids/ brush when u apply them, they last longer! Thats all i used!!

Thanks for all the helpful tips. I love make-up, but am kind of retarded (LOL) when it comes to thinking outside the box. Only question though: Do the brushes you apply with really make a difference (i.e. MAC fluffy brush vs. MAC 217)?
I bought this so fast after I saw one of Marlena’s tutorials:):):) I received the product within like 4 days of my order:) AWESOME!!!! The only bad thing is that in this pic and Marlena’s tutorial, the eyeshadows at the bottom on the pallette, the 12 rectangular ones, the top line shows white and gray eyeshadows. The pallette i received yesterday had gold and yellow shadows here

Once I am not an expert on make up (I am just becoming a fan on this area), I have a question regarding the Coastal scents palettes: I have the 88 shimmer palette but I think that I need a matte or non shimmer eye shadows.
