Makeup Geek Approved Christmas Presents for Every Price Range
By marlena • Dec 11th, 2008 • Category: Articles & ReviewsI apologize for this being a bit late, but I wanted to share some ideas for Christmas presents for every budget! These lists are put together for those just starting out, but you can tweak as needed if you are buying from someone who may already have some of the items. Hope this helps!
*Side note: I put down TFSI as it works well, but you can substitute with other primers. If you have oily lids, get Urban Decay Primer Potion. If you have normal to oily lids, get Too Faced Shadow Insurance. If you have normal to dry lids and/or need a little coverage on your eyes, then get MAC Painterly Paintpot or Constructivist Paintpot for dark skin tones…

Oh wow you really like Too Faced Shadow Insurance =P
And this is great, although i won’t be buying for someone else i’ve been wanting to buy myself a lil something and that first lot is right up my street! Thanks hun!
This is awesome. Merry X-Mas to me!!!
Sweet! I was tinking of getting some goodies for my lil sis who’s justs starting out. Thanks for doing my homework!!
wth, I bombed on my spelling on that last comment! You guys know what I mean….
I put down the Too Faced one as I like it better than UDPP (it’s easier to get product out of), but…. different primers work for different people. So, I put a side note at the top to recommend different primers for different skin types
Haha, i see, you’re very precise in what you do!
So, i was looking at these…. crazy that the 150 budget is on my to get wishlist lol
Ha looking at it again…its funny how the more money u spend the less u get LOL

I am disappointed to see recommendations like Loreal. They are evil animal testers. There are TONS of great make up lines that don’t do terrible tests on poor defenseless animals.
You can find out who tests and who doesn’t on mymakeupmirror.com
caringconsumer.com and ewg.com
Wonderful companies like Urban decay, Mac, Chanel, Estee Lauder, benefit and too faced don’t
Thank you SO much for the links for animal cruelty- I need to find a less expensive mascara now as Covergirl isn’t on the list and Revlon is iffy
Any suggestions?
I bookmarked one of the links btw- thank you!
All Loreal swatches and “promotions” are off the site now- I’m disgusted by what I’ve read about that company!
MARLENA
Cheaper Mascara….
I was buying Chanel but I switched to Mac and I like it a lot, which it’s only 12 bucks.
I know that the body shop has one and it’s actually not too much.
But the body shop is a little iffy because they were sold to Loreal, so I haven’t been buying them. Thanks for checking out the animal friendly sites, that actually means a lot to me. It’s made such a difference in my life by being aware of what really goes on that I feel so much better to help the poor animals. I just found out about candy companys like Nestle and Mars that test on animals. These tests are not requires, it includes injecting stuff into still beating rabbits hearts to see the effects of chocolate, which aren’t required by law. Herseys is still good. Sorry to make it such a sad post, the point is that there are terrible things that the public just aren’t aware of.
I’m happy that you actually read the posts, I thought you would be so busy, I know how popular this site is.
Thank you for your concern and all of your amazing make up tips, you’re so beautiful! xoxo
P.S
I wanted to ask if anyone knows about good brushes?
I hear that the nice ones made from Bagers are actually cruelty free, meaning they shave them?
I’m still wrestling the idea of this being ok, I guess there is always vegan brushes.
Thanks so much for the great holiday ideas! I had no idea what to get my mom-in-law and this helped a lot!
I even bought myself a few things on the list because you recommend them so much.
And to Jillian thanks so much for including those websites. I’ve bookmarked them so I can look to see which companies are good to buy from!
Merry Christmas, everyone!
I love Dior Iconic Mascara
Any of you that are interested in vegan and cruelty-free cosmetics should check out Everyday Minerals. I LOVE their eye shadows. They also have a forum to discuss makeup with others.
